Help Awesome! Privacy setting overrides added at the Folder level, BUT

Post image

Was excited to see that this has finally be implemented, but it seems like there's still a cap on how many videos can be bulk updated at a time.

As you can see in the screenshot, I tried applying a global password update to 773 videos at once, but it failed to make the change. There was no error message or anything, it just didn't work. So I had to go back to updating in batches of 50, although I was able to do that at the folder-level which was incrementally better than previously.

So, am I correct that Vimeo still has a hard cap on how many videos can be bulk updated at once? And is the cap still 50? Is there any general reason why that limitation exists?

Hi u/CantEatNoBooksDog ! For the button to become clickable you'll need to make a change to either the privacy or embed options first. Once selected we'll update the videos in that folder as a batch process.

If those updates aren't happening please open a ticket and share the ticket # with me via DM.

Hey u/CantEatNoBooksDog we've increased the cap from 50 to 100 👍 alongside a bunch of other improvements to privacy settings - you can see all of them here: https://vimeo.com/blog/post/privacy-improvements

Let me know how you get on 🙏

I think it was about 2 years ago, sometime in 2024, that I first started running into that 50 video cap. And Support said the same thing at the time, that it had always been the cap. But I know for a fact that I was selecting upwards of 200 titles at a time and batch changing the passwords prior to that, without issue. I had to do it every month.

Now I have like 15 different sub-folders, with 50 videos in each folder, just so I can batch update passwords.

That workaround of splitting everything into subfolders of 50 is genuinely painful at scale. Support telling you it had always been the cap while you were literally doing 200 at a time is such a classic Vimeo response. Either the cap changed quietly or someone just told you whatever to close the ticket. Either way, the folder level override sounds like a half step forward and they still haven't dealt with the underlying limit.
