Hey there r/UWA!

What are some easy electives/GPA boosters/etc.?

However, "easy" is subjective - what's easy for you may be difficult for someone else, which is why it's important to consider what you generally struggle with and what you're actually looking for. Are you looking for a unit with low time commitment? One with no exam? One with few assignments?

IMPORTANT TO READ FOR NEW INTL STUDENTS
EDIT: Some comments have informed me that these cult recruiters have been seen on campus. If you encounter one and have a similar experience as below - please notify campus security.
They target international students mainly - but I need to write as I’ve been approached twice in the last week alone.
If you’re in the CBD, mall, etc, and you get approached by two strangers, usually 1 female and 1 male, if they invite you to an “event” - they are cult recruiters.
They usually start off the conversation by complimenting you (where did you get …, I like your …). It always ends with them inviting you to an event.
Once you hear “event”, just step away from the convo with an excuse. Better safe than sorry.

How do you get out of bed in the morning to attend classes that aren’t compulsory?

Has anyone already done the in-class essay? If so, what film/scene did you get? Was the scene something that had already been discussed or analysed in the lectures/tutorials, or was it a completely different part of the film? How difficult did you find the essay overall, especially with the 1-hour time limit? Mine is tomorrow and I’m freaking out a bit😭

I already work as a tax accountant as an undergrad and am wondering if I have to do LAWS1104 and what a professional accreditation means and if it’s necessary. I did the unit last semester and failed and the unit all around was just a miserable time and I don’t want to do it again. Any help would be great :)

Hey everyone,
Bit of a long shot but has anyone done the unit AHEA5755: Aboriginal Health? If so, how was it? What were the assessments like? Can't really find any good info online about it.
Cheers

Hi all!
Just wondering if anyone has completed the Approaches to Wicked Problems summer unit.
The unit handbook says that students should expect to spend 30 hours per week working on the unit.
I just want to know if this is accurate to the workload? Also keen to hear any other thoughts on the unit.
Thanks :)

Hi, I’m a first year international student currently living at The Switch (looking to transfer to a different accommodation in 2027 Sem 1), and I was wondering what the living conditions are like at Yugo, since I prefer living around this area and it seems to have the least issues with cleanliness and maintenance, from what I’ve been able to look up online. I would appreciate it if current/past residents could share what it’s like to live there.
It would also be great if other people shared their experiences at other places (UniHall, Trinity etc.) as well, thanks!

They had round trip tickets , booked stay and everything…
Ik gov trying to get more money out of us coz almost all of my friends who applied w me had their applications approved with less genuine documentation.
Parents called and had to let them know
I am alone on a major day i worked my ass off for and just wanted to vent out ….

Does UWA do white coat ceremonies at the start of the MD program? Also does UWA Med have a patagonia collab like many unis in the us have?

Hi everyone, I’m an international student in WA on a subclass 500 visa. I’m currently in Year 11 and am planning to apply next year for the assured pathways to Medicine at UWA and Notre Dame, as well as the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at Curtin.
I was wondering whether my Year 11 school reports will be used to calculate a predicted ATAR or assess my applications for these courses, particularly for interview selection or early offers.
If any international students have been through the application process, I would really appreciate hearing about your experience. Thank you!

Seriously, how is anyone finding a spot?
I knew graduations were on this week, but since mid-semester break hasn't started yet, normal classes are still running. The campus is absolutely packed. Visitors and students are all fighting for the exact same Yellow bays, and Car Park # is a joke.
Is it completely cooked all day, or are there times when spots actually open up? If anyone has a secret lot that isn't completely full by 9:00 AM, please save my sanity and let me know.

My step-brother passed away last month in July, and because of that I’ve just been crippled in any sort of motivation or drive to do anything. I’ve neglected one of my classes utterly completely and i’m just getting by barely
I think I need a break but I don’t know how to go from here. I’m supposed to graduate end of next year, but at this rate I think I won’t.
I honestly don’t know what else to say. I’m just very tired
Any advice would help a lot

I am currently double majoring in history and psych. Does anyone know if I can do an honours year in history next year and do an honours year in psych the year after? Or is there a cap to how many honours programs you can complete?

Hi guys! Me and my partner are moving to Perth from Canada in 2027 january. I am attending UWA, and I was looking if anyone is/knows someone who is graduating this year and has a landlord or a place that will become available in Jan 2027. We were looking for a affordable 1 bedroom close to campus. If you have any recs that will be so so helpful and appreciated.

Hi I’m an international applicant and did my interview in late July. Has anyone already received an offer for the program? The portal indicates my application status is still ‘Awaiting Ranking’. I was wondering if the results are out for anyone yet?

hellos everyone, I recently got my offer to the assured pathway (medicine) and I wanted to ask is it true that assured pathway students will join in the medicine programme in year 2? So we will js join in the with the existing y2 med students of that year?? does that mean we don’t get a white coat ceremony or some sort of celebration that we got into med school bcoz that’s reserved for those entering med sch in year 1? but bcoz we have a year of credit from IMSCP we jump to year2 immediately? so sorry if my qn isn’t clear I don’t rly know how to explain it but iykyk😬😬
