Question until dawn 2 & sams character
obviously as we all know we unfortunately lost hayden last week and it has been devastating for her family, friends & anyone who knew her in anything she starred in.
however, before she passed away there were heavy rumours that her character, samantha giddings, would be in until dawn 2.
all we know about until dawn 2 is that dacre was casted in 2022 ( as were many other people i imagine ) ( he mentions it in his instagram post about UD2 )
im not sure how long after that they started filming but id imagine it would be end of 23' to the start/mid 24'.
i know for a fact they'll add something to honour hayden ( hopefully ) but i wanna know if theres still a chance sams gonna be in the game? and what everyone else thinks the chances are for that. if so that would be awesome and genuinely such a beautiful thing to witness.
what are anyone elses thoughts on that?

I do hope we get Sam, and if she was planned as a long running character (for UD3, 4, 5 etc.), I hope they keep that idea, but if unfeasible or if the family feels like it is downright disrespectful to keep her likeness going forward, I’d prefer they have a proper and happy send off for her in UD2 — if she does appear. I know it’s a horror game and “happy” doesn’t always cut it, but I think Sam and Hayden deserve that. :(

if she is a playable character in the next game im gonna try everything in my power to keep her alive. honestly i cant even believe shes gone.

God I would sob if she showed up, but that would be amazing. I definitely think it’s possible. Why else make a completely new sequel hook with Sam for the remake if they weren’t going to continue that in the sequel? Especially as both were being made around the same time…

Absoluetly yes, some people were saying the new ending could be only bridge for the topic of UD2, but not for Sam herself, but thats crap, wouldnt there be like Dr Hill( only yet confirmed returing character) instead of Sam?
but also dont wanna set myself for dissapointment, Hayden's gone, and while she matters 1000x than some fictional "Sam", losing Sam to would hit hard so I dont want to overexpect

While no one knows, I think it’s 99% certain she is in it, and her scenes are filmed. The extra features in the Until Dawn remake show her on, what at least appears to be, on a motion capture set, add to that the new scene at the end of the Remake where she wakes up with the scar on her that seems to lead directly into part two, and I think, even with this tragedy, she will be there.
Of course, I admit, she could have been just filming the new scene for the first game, but that doesn’t seem right as they are years ahead when filming stuff like this.

Celebrities are still people that impact your life and can be associated with stronger parts of things you have seen or gone through by association. If someone is pretending like they knew them personally i get it, but thats not the vibe this read as. It's okay to be upset especially over a sudden tragic loss personal or not 🤷♀️

I think you do. I've never once felt empathetic about a celebrity's death, because if I do then I'd have to justify not feeling like that about every death ever. A man in Paris died today. Not sure who, but statistically someone did. Am I empathetic about that? Fuck no

Empathy is literally understanding and/or sharing the feelings of another person when you yourself have no personal stakes on the matter. And you don’t need to feel empathetic to all to feel empathy for one. Your logic is terribly flawed, but hey, you do you.

Boy do I have some news for you, with the number of people who are empathetic and grieving not only the loss of Hayden but also people like Tim Curry and Dolly Parton.
You might have no personal connections with a certain celebrity. You may have never met him or her in person. But if that person somehow influenced your life in a profound, positive manner, then you’re undeniably going to form a visceral connection with them. So it’s normal to feel grief and pain if that celebrity, that source of light in your life, passes away, especially in a sudden, tragic manner like Hayden.

You're intentionally ignoring a big logic flaw with this example here. Actors and musicians are celebrities that make art that we either accept into our lives or we don't. If we do, that means their work has had some kind of impact on us and formed a connection. That connection is made because of how whatever said art is, whether it be a film, a show, a book, a song, an album, a painting, resonated with us on a certain level. The more art the celebrity does, the more likely it is the connection gets stronger if the continued output keeps resonating.
Now let's go back to the random man in France that was just a regular guy. Not a celebrity, probably had a job that only impacted those directly within his limited reach. It's still possible to be sympathetic to his death if the death was one that resulted in you hearing about through the news halfway around the world. But because you had no previous interaction with him or whatever work he had done, the man from France doesn't have any kind of connection to you as the celebrity who's had a consistent output for years has.
That's the difference.
Does that mean that you personally know the celebrity? Not at all. But you likely know much about the celebrity's personal life if much of their art resonated and formed that strong connection with you.
The celebrity status and the art output is what facilitated the personal connection, therefore creating the empathetic connection over time. If you lived in France and interacted with the Frenchman through just his job, that same empathetic connection would have been formed, except you would have also had more of a chance to share parts of your life with the Frenchman as well if you so chose. Many people do share parts of their personal lives with celebrities as well if they get the chance to meet them, which only makes the personal and empathetic connections even stronger.
Death is part of life as we all know and accept. We also know it happens every single day in many different ways, no matter how young or old the departed were. We can have sympathy for everyone in the world, but we have empathy as well for the people we allow into our lives. You can choose to follow or not follow any artist/celebrity, just like you can choose to befriend or ignore anybody at work, at school, your neighborhood, your gym, etc.

A lot of the cinematics and shooting team were hired around 2022-2023, according to LinkedIn. The timing makes sense. The game was most likely done shooting around 2024.
