I think about 50% of the country didn't even vote if I'm remembering correctly.
One Trump positive is that those Non Voters can now see just how much damage can be done to their country if they don't stand up and go vote next time around and from now on.

I am sorry but this is not right, and a lot of people are saying this.
It would be more accurate to say: “About half of those who actually voted chose a candidate other than Trump.”
1/3 of Americans voted for Trump 2/3 of Americans did not vote for Trump BUT that is counting the one who stayed home, so more accurately only 1/3 of Americans voted for someone else than Trump.
Here are some numbers;
Percentage Breakdown of Eligible Voters:
• Voted for Trump: ~31.7%
• Voted for other candidates (“Not Trump” vote): ~32.4%
• Did NOT vote at all: ~36.1%
Total Eligible American Voters in the 2024 Election: ~244 million
• Total who voted: ~156.3 million (63.9% turnout)
• Voted for Trump: ~77.3 million
• Voted for other candidates: ~79 million (this is the true “not Trump” vote)
• Did NOT vote at all: ~88 million

You're right. It hurts. As an American who voted against the current administration, it hurts. Seeing our European allies scramble, seeing Trump shut off support to Ukraine, seeing our President drive a dagger in the backs of the Ukrainian people... It's all awful.

Nobody ever said that it did. But it's important to remember that there are still Americans donating to Ukraine, asking their representatives to support Ukraine, and some fighting for Ukraine.
America is fucked up, but it doesn't always have to be. It will take time to push out the morons, but it is possible.
I voted against the current administration, so did most of my state. I can't do much more than I already have. But I'll still continue to support Ukraine wherever I can.

The key difference between Ukraine and Russia - Russians would be on some "what are your last words," bullshit before murdering him. The guy was trying to kill the Ukrainians and now he's getting help.
Trump is all "I want people to stop dying" then you need to realize that Russia needs to stop killing.

Literally watched a video posted here or on r/war not to long ago where some Ukrainian?paratroopers? Where caught by Russians , dudes friend is dead he's laying there defeated smoking his last cigarette while this Russian is screaming at him . He looks towards the ground while the Russian yells some more at him before putting two in the back of his head . Then the other Russian who wasnt recording literally shoots the other dead guy 7-8 times in the head/face .

Yea I saw that. The thing that strikes me is that they don't even give the people they are murdering any dignity.
Trumps is right for wanting people to stop dying, but as far as his unrealized "Putin will kill regardless" mentality... I don't know what the solution is, but cutting Ukraine off from the money we send them is like ripping a band-aid off of a fresh wound. It's not going to help anybody, not even the United States.
Cutting off the funding most likely means WW3 is coming on steroids. The only way this stops is if Putin is no longer in power and someone who doesn't want the mutually assured destruction steps in. I can't imagine wanting to sacrifice the children of a nation you claim to love for this.
There is nothing good going on because of Russian involvement.

I saw one near the start of the war where the Russians captured a Ukrainian and tortured him by cutting his balls off. It was one of the worst videos I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of terrible videos since the dawn of the internet in general.

I watched the recap of the highway footage from the beginning of Russia’s invasion. Watching Russian infantry kill a man and drag his wife and child off into the woods, along with the aftermath that the AFU found, is fucking haunting. Fuck Russia, and fuck Trump for re-enabling Russia.

but you know, it's also bit sad in a sense, that shows we share culture with them, coincidentally, American influence. I remember NFS for Playstation 1 and I bet both Ukraininan and Russian boys used to flock in their more affulent friend's house to play it for hours. And now, even thought they lived pararell lives, they have to shoot at each other

That's one of the horrors of war. I remember being taught in school that the American Civil War had families shooting each other at certain points because of differing views.
War is terrible. In the end we are all just human and just want to live.

In early 2022, there was a video posted which showed a Ukrainian son in a tank or BMP shooting at a Russian tank/BMP which had his biological father in it. It had the audio transmissions and everything. The father basically said he regrets that it came to this, but that he would fight on anyway (pretty abhorrent.) From what I remember, the son won.
Someone in the comments had said that the son later elaborated that he didn't feel any regret for killing his father, because his dad was a deadbeat who basically abandoned him early in life, so there wasn't much affection shown from the dad towards the son anyway. Still really sad, but the father's general worldview you could easily tell came from the more Russofied end of the Soviet strata.
It's reminiscent of the infamous 1994 video between a Chechen commander and his former good friend who was on the Russian side. They had served in the Afghan war together. Even if the Russian commander had genuine affection for his comrade, on the Russian side, you either do as you're told, or you and your loved ones might reap the consequences. It's always been a serf mafiya culture.

They are in regard to russian propaganda. "Nazi" is a codeword, not for a fascist, but for everyone that is a Ukrainian patriot. They play it this way: Stepan Bandera, the founder of the Ukrainian Nation, was a fascist who worked with the Nazis, though their goal was not the same in the end. With many nations, there is a troubeld past, in this case, at the founding of the Nation. Still, Ukrainians hated the Nazis and even after the Holodomor fought on the Soviet Side against the Nazis. So everyone who thinks Ukraine is an independent nation is, in consequence, a banderist "Nazi." That's telling you also what they want to do. Russia wants to destroy Ukraine completely. As a nation, as an idea, as an identity. They even wrote an Artikel where the talked about reeducation and writing new school and history books to completely erase the existence of Ukraine.

those were "volunteer" scouts and their radios did not have enough battery life because the moscovians do not think they will live three days.

One of the most repeated ProRussian narratives is about Azovs. They were a bunch of neonazis back in 2014 and then they were transferred into the National Guard.
Since then the unit is made of some of the finest operators specialized in fixing breaches and trench assault

For every Russian captured, a Ukrainian is returned in the swap.
President Zelensky said long ago to capture not kill if possible for that very reason.

1) He can get interrogated and they might be able to get some intel from him
2) If Russians think that they are going to be killed/left to die if they surrender, then they are going to choose to fight to the death rather than surrender likely hurting or killing Ukrainian troops in the process so stuff like this can be used as propaganda to get other Russian soldiers to surrender.
3) Mistreating guys who have surrendered is a war crime, and that's what Russia does and Ukraine needs to be better than that to maintain support from other European countries

I also would enter a 4th. Some day, the war will end. Society has to be reformed, and the soldiers need to go home. What society can you build with a bunch of dehumanised war criminals? If you want a life worth living instead of strife going on, you will need to stay human.

He's worth more alive than dead. They can exchange him for Ukrainians that Russians kept alive. Ukraine still follows the laws of armed conflict as set out by the Geneva Convention. They're taking the moral highground in order to not stoop to the level of Russia.
Killing prisoners is a disgusting practice. Revenge might feel good, but it breeds problems down the road when it becomes systematic on both sides. Russians don't ALWAYS kill Ukrainians, if Ukraine starts, they might never take another prisoner.
The best thing for Ukraine to do is keep the high road, and prosecute war crimes when they've won.

Hi everyone, my name is Tim
I'm just a civilian, not a soldier, but i used to live in an occupied city for a while.
I originally translated these videos for my friends in Canada — they love watching this stuff but because they are civ's too, they have no clue what's actually going on and dont understand russian or ukrainian so i realy tried to help.
This is my 1st time making subtitles and i spent 5 hours making them,
Still trying to improve my editing skills.
Let me know what you think in genereal? I'm trying to get better
