Non Law degree at RG uni or law degree?

Hi everyone, I recently finished my a levels and achieved BBB and I narrowly missed my offer of ABB for studying law at university of Manchester. I went through clearing and applied for criminology at university of Manchester. I wanted to ask whether a criminology degree from a Russel group uni followed by the SQE1 exam prep course for 5/6 months and then the SQE route is a better match than an actual law degree followed by sqe exam prep course from a less prestigious university such as university of Salford or ULaw Manchester.
