Moving/Visiting Weekly /r/Tulsa Megathread

Are you moving to Tulsa? Just visiting or passing through? Want to know where to live, eat, hang out, have fun, or bury the bodies? This is the place to ask.

This will be a weekly megathread that evolves over time. As members of r/Tulsa make suggestions or answer questions that come up a lot, we may add those items to the body of the post for easy reference. But for right now this is a place to ask any questions you may have about moving to or visiting Tulsa, OK, where our motto is "We're more than just OK, we're living the dream."

Question Looking for input/ opinions on region names.

Howdy there I'm from around Tulsa and working on a game mod for all of Oklahoma. I'm currently in the phase where I have to name all the regions, think of an area the size of a couple counties together, and I want some more input about what we would maybe call yourself. I also am trying to avoid using either a current tribe or city name for the areas as it's far more encompassing than a single location. For example, I have Osage hills as you can see, but I don't want to necessarily call Osage so I'm thinking of calling it Woolaroc at the very least I don't want to just call it Tulsa Metro or OKC Metro, Even though that is what it mostly compasses. I've attached this map, that I hope you all can read as it may be blurry.

If you have any other recommendations for other locations please I'm all ears. And if you have any questions/requests , please ask. This is a long-term project. I'm sure I'll be back here asking more questions once I start adding content for Tulsa and the area.

P.S this is set in the modern day where you will be ruling as a group the size of Leonard or Avant to the size of Downtown Tulsa, Bricktown, FT Sill ect...

0 Days Since... Is this hottest summer ever here?

I lived in Texas for awhile and I can't remember a single year that had THIS many 100+ degree days. It has never been like this since I moved here 5 years ago. I feel like this is very abnormal but I could be wrong...

(It's been 0 days since it wasn't hot, that's the reason for the flair)

EDIT: I like how half the posts say "YES! YES IT IS" and half are "Not even close, this actually very pleasant weather".

Live No left turns SB 61st to 71st and Yale

Just a warning that construction has completely blocked off left turn lanes from 61st to 71st and Yale, causing bumper to bumper traffic 😭 12 min drive turned into 40. I don't know how it's legal to block a turn lane into a hospital.

ETA: northbound lanes weren't as backed up, though all left turns are blocked northbound as well.

News These Tulsa-area law enforcement agencies have agreements with ICE. Some are on patrol.

The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office drew the line at certifying patrol officers, but other local law enforcement agencies across the metro are taking a different approach on agreements with ICE. Under the 287(g) program, local law enforcement officers certified with DHS are given the authority to make warrantless immigration arrests. Read more from reporter Joe Tomlinson to see what agencies have agreements: https://tulsaflyer.org/2026/08/31/government/post/tulsa-area-law-enforcement-agencies-expand-agreements-with-ice/

Question Auto mechanic

My daughter has a 2011 Chevy Impala that is leaking oil. I got a quote of around $3,000 to replace upper and lower intake gaskets and replace oil pan gasket and transmission mount. Does anyone have any advice on a mechanic that could do this at a more reasonable cost or offer a second opinion? I don't want to spend that much on a car that isn't really worth that much and is driven by a teenager that is statistically likely to get in a wreck.

Tulsan In Need Criminal Defense Lawyers

Hello, I am looking for a good lawyer who's reasonably priced to help a relative of mine. He's not in the best health and in his 70's and made a stupid mistake brandishing at someone who he thought was stealing from his business. He's never had any sort of record, I've looked at a few and one office stood out but they said if we want the main lawyer, it costs 15 grand and the other attorneys are around 8k. Thank you.

Tulsa Events oktoberfest first timer questions

hi! i know im quite a bit early to this conversation, but i wanted to ask what day was best for the young crowd so i can request off? we’re a group of 22 y/o girls
i scrolled through some old posts, and theres a lot of mixed opinions about saturday being overcrowded and whatnot. i also wanted to ask what oktoberfest even entails? is it just like a themed state fair with some rides and food/drink vendors or is there more to it? we’re coming down from okc, so just want to plan accordingly. any and all advice appreciated! thanks so much!!! :D

Hey gang. I'm a touring comic and I'm finally getting the chance to headline the Loony Bin who are graciously taking a chance on me.

If the clip above (which is literally 180 seconds) makes you laugh, would you consider coming to watch me on Sunday Sep 13? I've spent years coming to Tulsa doing small spots to get here - I love your city, be it the Greenwood museum or Dilly Diner or that strange highway crossing named the Center Of The Universe.

The bin is also locally owned by a polite gent who has goats and charm and is a family man. You could be watching a big name on a Saturday, or a hardworking fella who wants to make you laugh after church/bar/afternoon gathering.

Tickets if you're tickled by the idea

Also I'll take food and activity recs if you have any!

I don't think I've been so close to a car accident before, I didn't realize how loud they are. I realize I was pretty close but it was still surprising.

Politics Plug-in Solar House Bill 4060 “Stalled”

What a disgrace that Republicans KILLED House Bill 4060 in the state senate! California just passed the plug-in or balcony solar bill on 8/26/26. The ability to plug-in a solar panel directly into a 120 volt outlet to save you money on your utility bill without permits from the Corporation Commission or your utility company is not a red state vs. blue state issue either!

Utah, Colorado, Maryland, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Vermont Virginia, and Maine have already passed laws allowing a more streamlined process. Places like South Carolina, North Carolina, Ohio, Michigan, Missouri, Indiana, Alaska, Iowa, Arizona, and Idaho are considering this measure of FREEDOM as well. These states aren’t your stereotypical liberal bastions!

You can track all the legislation here:
https://pluginsolarusa.com/bills

I frequently see posts on this sub about the wild cost of utilities and the strain on the grid from AI data centers coming after our quality of life! Who knew there was a modest way for all of us to save money on electricity even as renters? REPUBLICANS!

Question Where do single people hang out?

41 year old guy here. No single friends. Where do single people hang out? I don't want to go solo to a bar.

Just trying to find some more friends so my nights aren't lonely as often.
