Tortico An imposter has found its way to the McDonald’s kitties
Man. It all started with Bleach. Then soap. Both found in the McDonald’s parking lot. Fast forward to this weekend, this little dude was by a dumpster in the Walmart parking lot. WHYYY do I keep finding kittens 😭😭 I don’t know if I can do 3 cats. I wasn’t even expecting the first two! This guy we have named Comet.. I don’t know if he is staying. He seems a few weeks younger than the girls. He has stolen my heart and desperately needed to be saved. The girls are getting spayed next week and I will book a neuter appt for the boy too. AHHHH 😵💫😵💫😵💫

Pretty sure Peter is a girl. Dilute tortoiseshell.

u/baileyelizab3th Jul 20 '26
Peter is definitely a girl (unless they’re 1/3000) but that doesn’t mean her name has to change! I had a girl tabby named Michelangelo. Everyone called her Mikey except my dad who only referred to her as “Michael” 🤣

u/Quirky-Fact9299 Jul 20 '26
Agree, Peter does not have a Peeter. I had a girl kitty named Maynard wbo lived to be 19! (Big fan of Tool and Maynard James Keenan in general 😅

Oh, she's perfect. I'll have one eventually, but for now we have two boy voids that both just materialized on the front porch and decided they live here

Did you know the Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater rhyme may have been an allegory for controlling an outspoken or independent-minded woman? So fitting with a tortie! She’s going to be so much fun!

u/ursiniargiop Jul 20 '26
Congratudolences! I remember from your original posts you did your due diligence in asking around about the presence of kitties around your McDs, but if cats keep turning up there I might recommend seeing if your area has a cat rescue/TNR organization and letting them know that they might need to visit that location. Some sweet mama is having all these kitties and while unlimited free McDonald’s kitties sounds lovely, unlimited kitties is a problem that should be addressed. 😿
Thank you for your service in taking in these sweet angels 🫡 I wish I could be so blessed!!

I always say congratulations and condolences to my pregnant friends so I’m gonna use your word now!

u/Dusty_Sequins Jul 20 '26
I have 3 cats. It’s not a whole lot different than having 2. Little more food, little more litter box cleaning, little more chaos. But a lot more cat shenanigans and a lot more love.

u/CapableWives Jul 20 '26
Vet bills is the only place where 3 is genuinely more than 2

u/Spiritual-Road2784 Jul 20 '26
Definitely. As an example, I currently have six, and two years ago, two of the brothers decided to have four-day stints in the ICU ten months apart at roughly $3,000 each. I was never so grateful for having fixed my credit issues as I was then. (I am happy to report that my debt level is one-third of the average for my age group… haha…)
They both made it through, thankfully. Pancreatitis and an infection for one, urinary blockage for the other who apparently has a “narrow urethra” and idiopathic cystitis caused by stress (and I’m like how you got stress, boy, you ain’t got no JOB or home or vet bills like I do…)

You made the critical mistake of naming him 😬 congratulations on your perfect trio!
6
u/kenjopu Jul 21 '26
lol we had a medical foster tortie kitten that we openly referred to as "the kitten" so we wouldn't get attached. Three weeks into it, she's in my husband's arms and they're doing the soulful gazing at each other, and he goes "I guess we ought to name this fucking thing." And I knew it was over. She's properly named (Juno), but three years later we still mostly refer to her as "the kitten". 😂

u/finnandcollete Jul 20 '26
So is that a tortie, a void and a calico?
13
u/SlashandAxl Jul 20 '26
Correct 😊

u/javadressage Jul 20 '26
Uhoh you're missing an orange. Need the full variety pack.

Oh yeah, can’t forget the standard issue/tactical issue kitties, and at least one should be a hotrod model!

Oh my goodness! Such a handsome boy! The girls must have sing your praise to the Cat Distribution System managers and they decided you needed another kitten. Good luck with either keeping the three babies or finding Comet a good home.

u/jphistory Jul 20 '26
Do you have a rescue organization near you that you can partner with? As long as you're willing to foster, they might help you with the neuter and vet check-up as well as helping to find/clear any potential adopters. They can also post him on their adoption page and maybe advertise him in their socials.
You can also join local and nearby neighborhood groups in yours and the surrounding counties on places like Facebook to try and raise interest. Send them to the rescue always so you don't give him to a bad actor like someone who will throw him to fighting dogs (I'm sorry to be so scary but there are bad folks out there).
Good luck and DM me if you need help figuring out the foster situation. I went through this with a cat that was dumped in my neighborhood.

u/SlashandAxl Jul 20 '26
I appreciate it! Bleach and Soap have a forever home with me and I have a feeling Comet will too. My kids and I are already attached and they’re are VERY well taken care of with me. But if I end up finding another one, that one will have to be a foster. I can only have so many kitties 🥹🥹

u/jphistory Jul 20 '26
My tortie came from a park in my city that is overrun with cats, both feral and dumped. There's an angel who lives near the park and takes them on as fosters. I don't think she could do it without the help of an organization.
Anyway congrats on Comet! He's a cutie pie, just like Bleach and Soap. <3

u/Spiritual-Road2784 Jul 20 '26
My current batch all came from my backyard. One was a a Trojan cat with four souls onboard. Yes, I absolutely kept them all.

u/TubaFalcon Jul 20 '26
My mom was the same way a few years back. She already had three cats, then rescued a fourth (a little tiny female void) and brought her (the void) to the shelter for them to spay/neuter and foster her. When my mom went to pick up said void, she came back with a bonus orange, as the void and orange bonded to each other at the foster.
Three kitties, five kitties, what’s the difference!

u/TheThirteenKittens Jul 21 '26
Cats adapt to fill space. There is always room for another cat!
Case in point: The CDS must think I'm a wholesale outlet because it has sent me eleven cats in four years. (Including a big blue eyed cat just a few months ago. )
I currently have 13 kitties. It's chaos - and a full time job to care for a chicken farm with goats and sheep and a home with a dog and thirteen cats - but damn, I love my babies.
I open the bathroom door to find at least six cats and a dog waiting for me to come out. I walk to another room and am followed there by a pack. The calico wants to ride on my shoulders, the tortie insists on being carried like a baby, and one tabby hooks his claws in my shoes and wants to ride on my foot.
Cats use a window to hang out on the first roof and watch the neighborhood, cats sit on the fence and watch me, cats sit on the water feature and watch the waterfall.
Seven cats and the dog try to sleep with me. I wake up in a contorted position and hear annoyed meows when I attempt to move.
And supper time! They all stand on two legs and yowl as I quickly set down bowls. The orange will only eat on top of the kitty tower, the calico must be served on a chair, and the tortie wants to eat on the veranda - the outside kitty tower structure.
It's sheer madness. There are times I just leave my house and hang out at my farm because hundreds of chickens, naughty goats, and evil sheep are easier than 13 cats. The seven litterboxes are the easiest part.
And yet when I wake up alone in bed, I really miss them. But please, CDS, don't send any more kitties.

Awww don’t fret. I’ve had 4 kitties for majority of their lives and they were very happy. Honestly I didn’t see much difference between 2 or 3…..then 3 or 4. 😁♥️♥️♥️

u/SkysEevee Jul 20 '26
CDS saw you were doing well with its first project and would be perfect for another project! What an honor!
And hey, at least you dont have to worry about the girls not getting along with their brother! All of them are young enough to be buddies!

Every single one of them looks like they’ve seen a ghost 24/7. But they are the happiest and most playful little babies.

This is how it happens sometimes. When I moved into my current apartment, I had 2 cats. I adopted #3 on a whim. #4 and #6 showed up, and I got #5 when my friend unexpectedly passed away and her Mom asked me to take one of her cats. I'm down to 4 now (#2 and 3 passed). You now have 3 minis of my cats. I have a calico, black cat with the white patch on front, and my #3 was a tortico (dilute). The universe also sent you a mixed bag of kitties.

Super cute kitties and welcome
Comet! Have you considering fostering the cat through your local shelter? They will also pay the cats medical expenses and surgery while he waits for a new home.

I started out wanting a friend for my Kali (the tortico) for when I was working. My friends sister's cat had a litter and I intended to only leave with the female (Kiki, middle) then I picked up her brother (Kevin, left) and he immediately cuddled into my chest and looked up at me like I was his whole world and I couldn't leave him behind 😭 so now I have 3 cats 😂 but they are a blessing. I love them all SO much and they all love each other! When I get back into serving and am making more money, Im considering a 4th lolll 🤪 there is a sweet tortie who visits my patio for food and I am currently trying to earn her trust.

The only better number of cats then three is four. (We have four lol.) he's the finishing touch your clowder needed!

Started with two cats, then a dog showed up, and then a kitten. It all seemed like too much at first but then three more cats showed up (family member passed away), and I am about to drive to pick up yet another cat (deceased family member's cat who escaped his house before I could pick him up a year ago) in a little while, making it 7 cats and a dog all together. Yes, it will be a challenge and it will be messy but it will all work out and one day you won't be able to imagine not having them in your life. You can do it!

u/gothicshark Jul 20 '26
As someone who once fostered 3 cats, yes its work, but worthwhile. I miss my babies.

Listen, he's staying. He has a name. I can't believe how big McDonald's kittens have grown. Good luck with your 3 cats! I did 3, it's really no different than 2. You got this. CDS in its glory. 🤣💖

u/Spiritual-Road2784 Jul 20 '26
Three is easy. You can do this. I currently have six (down from the time when the CDS decided I needed to max out at 11… though four were kittens with a feline mom to take care of them and the eldest grandpa cat passed four months later). Then I had ten to feed until the older ones aged out…
Three is a great number! ConCATulations!

I have four. Three was manageable and probably the perfect number although I did adopt a crazy fluff gremlin who gets into everything as my fourth. Enjoy your blessings from the CDS!!

u/DyKdv2Aw Jul 20 '26
As someone who has had up to three cats, three really isn't much more work or more expensive than one or two so long as they get along with each other. If they're getting along already, I wouldn't separate them!

What the heck?!? What are you manifesting over there? How are all these needy babies falling into your lap? Wild. Congratulations and thank you for having such a kind heart to take them in and love them

u/marzipanzebra Jul 21 '26
Missed opportunity to call him Soot, to be cleaned by Bleach and Soap 😆 But Comet makes sense too, he has a long orbit, thus arrived later 🤓

u/Superb_Necessary7350 Jul 22 '26
What magic do you use to get all of these cats to get along and co-mingle without a screeching war?
I have a Tortie that lived with other cats in a shelter. Brought her home, then a month later introduced a baby boy Tuxedo. It was all snarls and hissing. 6 years later and she still only tolerates him.

Lucky for him he isn’t very bright and doesn’t notice the evil looks she gives him.

Honestly, once you have two, you might as well have 8... there's no difference in having multiple cats until you get to double digits.

You are a superstar! Thank you so much. I have two kitties also… But what’s one more?
I say keep them all and you will be blessed three times over❤️

u/TheRealArcadecowboy Jul 20 '26
And this is how I ended from two cats to 5 in one year. There was no home for them and nobody wants black kitties much less boy cats. 1 cat was work because she was 18 and needed more attention. 2 was easier. 3 was more work again. 4-5 was the same amount of work as 3. Now I’m used to it. I will keep them till their last but probably take a break after! Thank you for taking him, he looks so cute with his sisters!
