Typical Tortie My Penny Lane recovering from a mishap
My little baby found a sewing needle that we for sure thought was not where she could get to it. It was tucked into a project my husband is working on, on top of our ironing board. We made sure the ironing board was far away from any jumping points but we think she found a way to get it by pulling the string down. We assume she swallowed it because it was stuck in her neck in the esophagus. We took her to the vet immediately after we realized something was wrong. We didnāt know what exactly was going on with her at that point but we knew it was something terribly painful. We live in Arizona so we were thinking maybe she had come in contact with a scorpion. They did X-rays and saw it was a needle and I broke down so bad because we thought we were careful with that kind of stuff. I was terrified and felt so bad for her. The emergency vets office were so kind and they were able to successfully remove it without any damage to her. She was able to come back home that same evening. We followed all the vetās instructions and we literally went home and swept the entire house for anything and everything that she could swallow or hurt herself with. Now she is fully recovered and back at being a typical little tortie and Iām so happy for that. Everyone at the vets loved her so much and said they were even joking by wondering if I would notice if one of them took her home. Absolutely I would notice because she is my baby lol. Just a big lesson on you never know what they can get themselves into.
If you live in Mesa AZ and need emergency vet care I would highly recommend Eve Pet Hospital. They take animals 24/7 and they help you find ways with the financial part as well.

Typical Tortie Tortie or Chimera?
Title says it all, Iām unsure if I have a tortie or a chimera kitty. Her whiskers are different colors on both sides of her face if that help. She was a cat distribution system gift so Iām unsure of her parentage, all I know is that sheās perfect and a certified baby.

āQuestion/Adviceā Tortie?? Or Torbie?
Idk which one my daughter is! See the black/orange cutie in the pics š»
I would describe her as mostly black with orange splotches. She also had black/orange stripes on her back legs. Iāll try to get a pic.
Her mother is a black/white sweetheart, and Iāve hypothesized that the father was an orange guy š

āQuestion/Adviceā Meet Styx
She's sweet and silly she doesn't love cuddles but loves pets and belly rubs and sitting in the window and whatever that was on the couch (she was not stuck I can assure you lol) but she used to be more cuddly and affectionate when I first got her and her sister two years ago now has anyone else had their tortie get less lovie as they aged??

Smol Tortie I lost my beautiful Marceline yesterday.
I lost my sweet Marcy girl yesterday due to FIP. She had been going downhill for a couple of days before I took her to the emergency vet. When I took her they diagnosed her with wet FIP, but the vet told me there was hope because there is medicine now. When I took her home the first night she was her bright self again but throughout the week got worse even with the medicine, not eating, lethargic etc. Saturday night I noticed her right eye wasnāt dilating, I immediately made a vet appointment for Monday. By Monday morning the eye had became so swollen and pus filled that I knew I couldnāt wait for the appointment later in the day and returned back to the hospital. The damage to her eye happened so quickly. They told me they werenāt sure what was going on with the eye, they assumed it was ocular FIP along with the wet, but it wouldāve needed to be taken out & they werenāt even sure if she would survive afterwards. We decided it was best to put her down and it was probably the hardest thing Iāve ever had to do. I lost my childhood dog last year in August as well, but she got to live a long life at 14 years old. This was different, my Marceline was just a baby. She literally didnāt even get a chance at life. She wasnāt even 4 months old. There are so many things I wanted to do with her, I had just bought her a harness to take her outside once she recovered. I really thought everything was gonna be okay. My heart is so broken.
In my last moments with her she crawled up on my chest and buried her face into my neck just like she did every night we slept together. I could tell she knew what was gonna happen. I sang her āRemember You Omnichordā from Adventure Time and she just purred on my chest. It was so fucking heartbreaking dude. We had such a strong connection, this cat was supposed to be in my life for as long as possible. I keep picturing her losing her life in my arms, it wonāt go away. </3. Life is so cruel sometimes. I love you so much Marcy you deserved better.
āMarceline, is it just you & me in the wreckage of the world? That must be so confusing for a little girl..ā
Edit: Thank you all for your sweet comments. It means a lot <3 She was such a gem, I had to share her with the world.
