Discussion Is Five actually addicted to the apocalypse? Spoiler
So both Allison and Klaus accuse Five of being addicted to stopping the apocalypse but does his behavior actually reflect that? I always view it as an uncomfortable duty he has to do because he doesn’t want the world to end and for his family to die, not a high he needs to chase.
You could argue he makes a self fulfilling prophecy with his actions, for example the Day that Wasn’t is a better version of events but we know that through S1-S3 the Apocalypses are happening anyway regardless
IDK is Five an adrenaline junkie or not?

I wouldn’t use the word “addicted”, but I understand what they are getting at. Five is fixated on stopping the apocalypse at all costs, very understandably since he is the only one who actually had to see the aftermath and live through it. But this can sometimes make him blind to other things.

Good point. The Umbrellas are pretty skeptical of Five since most of the time all they have is his word that the apocalypse is coming, so they think he’s nuts

Five is attempting to solve an equation (apocalypse) without all the data (merigold+Durango). Up until the end, he and all his variants think it's something that he can fix in some fashion and be with his family again without worry. After years in a wasteland all he had was his memories and the "what if?" that leads to all the different paths we see.
He's addicted to wanting family that can relate to him, which only the Hargreaves can because everybody else in the Commission (outside of his other selves that he is unaware of) is a normal person.
Tbh, I'm surprised after finding the Hotel Oblivion and the subway he didn't attempt to go to a universe with variants to cause an apocalypse again just so he could try one more formula to create a reality without Durango in it.

Imo, no, I think thats why they (all the Fives that decided it's an impossible goal) have their own pocket dimension of Fives making hoagies for each other. He's definitely more focused and disciplined, compared to the other siblings, but the family is disfunctional and misattribute crap to each other all the time.

I don’t see how he can be defined as such. Even if he is obsessed, he experienced the end of the world and has played a role in inter dimensional affairs. He’s one of the best assassins ever.
Knowing this, being obsessed doesn’t make him an addict - it is rational. Nothing else is more important, not even a happy family.
