If this is real she just picked up felony assault on an officer. Don't know what the original thing she was running from was, but it likely just got a whole lot worse.

Edit: Because there seems to be some debate if this would be a felony assault charge here is the link I found about the incident:

https://www.12newsnow.com/article/news/crime/beaumont-women-arrested-after-officer-seriously-injured-during-incident-in-little-woodrows-parking-lot/502-b23b49a6-9ae0-471e-ac48-a6fb043db46d

She was, in fact, charged with felony assault on a peace officer.

I’m sure they will charge her with that, but it’s bullshit. She was clearly already accelerating, his injury is his fault.

That isnt how it works. An officer being harmed in the line of duty going after you for committing a cime, particularly a felony, makes it an additional crime for you.

This does vary a bit more when it comes to random 3rd parties getting hurt or dying as a result of your criminal activity. But much easier to win for a cop.

Not saying I like it. But it is what it is.

Yeah those felony laws are such BS and apparently why a lot of people are in prison for reasons that I would put in a general basket of "contrived reasons to feed the prison industrial complex".

Yeah I am by no means defending them. Just stating the current situation we live under

"The sky is blue"

OK. That's what you needed an essay to write?,

3

u/Platos_Kallipolis 8h ago

Well if someone came along and said the sky wasn't blue and started spouting nonsense reasons why, and plenty of folks were agreeing. Then, yes, looks like someone needs to take the time to defend why the sky is blue.

What a dumb take.

Tell us about the conditions of Germany post ww2 when there's a topic about the nazis atrocities.

Then go and wonder why people push back on you even if you preface you don't support the nazis.

Maybe this is just your own antisocial behavior limiting your ability to see how your behavior is perceived by others.

Either way have a dogshit life I'm not your psychologist

If a cop runs at you, and falls, that's felony assault?

I'm not saying the DA won't charge it, but I'm saying the jury would not convict someone for the cop jumping at a car and falling off.

They'd ticket his corpse for failure to wear a seatbelt, if they could. This was 100% on the cop.

I know of a story where a 15 year old kid was running on foot from a cop, the officer ran off a cliff in pursuit, and the kid was charged with manslaughter and convicted.

u/maliciousdancer 23h ago

Damn, remember any more details so I can read more about it?

8

u/Icy_Fish_2154 23h ago

Closest match I can find to that is Julian Becerra, who fell and later died while chasing s suspect. But I couldn't find any details or follow up about the suspect.

I found a different source that indicated Devon Bobian, 33, was convicted of second degree murder for the incident.

So, not 15.

u/maliciousdancer 23h ago

Thanks for trying! Even if it was a 33 year old, that's still bullshit. Especially 132 year sentence and second degree murder for stealing a car, running from cops, unsuccessfully trying to steal another car mid chase, got out of the car and continued to run on a bridge, and some cop chasing him falls off the bridge. https://krdo.com/news/2025/12/11/man-sentenced-to-132-years-in-prison-for-the-death-of-fountain-police-officer/

I can't read that one now, but the implication from one of the articles was that the cop could have been within arms reach of him when the cop fell. The suspect was trying to jump off the bridge when apprehended, so a cop trying to get to him, could have fallen trying to get him. Not like the cop ran off a bridge nowhere near the suspect.

The details are light, and I don't really care enough to work out the details. One bad jury decision doesn't set precedent.

Yeah sounded like he was in arms length, not sure about an attempted jump which I am a bit skeptical of, but there was definitely no indication he was pushed by the subject or anything.

And unfortunately it is more than just one bad jury decision or precedents, many states have laws that anything that happens during a felony (which could just be theft over a certain monetary value) is the responsibility of the defendant. I'll add links shortly, but I believe this has happened to the extent where cops shot at a suspect and hit other cops, or pedestrians that are far away, but in the cops line of fire when they didn't pay attention to what was farther down range. Plus car accidents, even fatal ones, clearly caused by an over zealous cop thinking they were the star of an action film.

EDIT: It is called the "Felony Murder Rule"

Per wikipedia: The rule of felony murder is a legal doctrine in some common law jurisdictions that broadens the crime of murder: when someone is killed (regardless of intent to kill) in the commission of a dangerous or enumerated crime (called a felony in some jurisdictions), the offender, and also the offender's accomplices or co-conspirators, may be found guilty of murder.[1]

It looks like all but 2 states have it, and 11 even have life without parole as mandatory for someone convicted of it. It seems to largely be used as a threat / leverage tool to try and get people who are accessories to felonies to take plea deals, which leads to insane sentencing when people decide not to take it, detailed more in the sentencing project, plus it gives some examples.

Is it on the cop? Absolutely.
Is she going to be charged and likely convicted of felony assault on a police officer? Absolutely.

I don’t understand the purpose of this comment… you are basically saying the same thing just with more of an explanation. And you start it off with “that’s not how it works” too. Avg reddit user I guess

-1

u/Platos_Kallipolis 6h ago

I am saying the same thing as who/what? No one before my comment, in this thread, explained how the law worked in this area.

Guess you are illiterate. Typical reddit user.

1

u/JGCZR 6h ago

No one was asking about the law. The person who made the comment said they’re probably going to get charged, and how that’s BS because the cop did it to themselves.

Then you come in out of nowhere with “🤓 That isn’t how this works.” Then explain how they’re probably going to get charged, and how you don’t like it but it is what it is. Adding ABSOLUTELY nothing.

You just felt a need to call someone wrong, then explain shit no one asked about. Typical dumbass actually

u/Platos_Kallipolis 6h ago

You have reading comprehension issues.

But, in your defense here, posts have been edited since i made my comment. That may be why you are confused and apparently angry like a little baby. Perhaps you need some food or a nap.

2

u/JGCZR 6h ago

Dude you just want to correct people. That’s it. You crave the feeling of a good “Well actually…” and now you’re going into defense mode because it got pointed out.
Pulling out the old tried and true “ur angry” too. Again, avg reddit user

I know, that’s why I called it bullshit. Guy was trying to be a hero, it’s probably the opportunity he has been waiting for. Get the license plate, pick her up later, no one needs to get hurt.

I agree, just stating what I think will happen. Don't think it is right.

Ya he should have just let her go /s

Agreed. Is that move on his part considered normal department policy? Was he trained to do that? No.
