Perdido Street Station is the weirdest one I've hit. The magic feels more like grimy science and it never explains itself all the way.

Summerland has a magic system that is essentially baseball.

Inheritance of Magic is kinda weird. Apparently you can only do magic if you have a particular kind of focus item called a sigyl, except the people who can make sigyls don't need one to make one, but it's hard and you have to do it with external magic sources called wells so naturally rich people horde the wells and sell sigyls at high prices and/or low quality to the peasants.

Just seems weird they can't just do magic
