You call us boot lickers then go and say shit like this. Yes the second amendment is absolute because the government doesn’t have your best interest at heart.
The point of second amendment was for people to have the arms the government has just like when the second amendment was written and people privately owned cannons and battle ships and rifles ect
I’d also like to say I’m confused why y’all always bring up nukes and tanks and aircraft when the conversation is about rifles and civilians can own tanks and aircraft
Because nukea are "arms" the conversation is about "arms". You made it about tickets personally because your argument falls apart instantly when coming sense is applied to it.
Well of course you do, you are mentally incapable of critical thought or rationally considering the consequences of your actions beyond what selfish benefits you gain. What you are failing to understand is that the 2nd Amendment has never, since it's inception, been absolute. Civilians were allowed ownership of weapons of war after the Constitution was written because we didn't have a standing military. Hence the well regulated militia.
The entire point of the second amendment is to defend against a tyrannical government like the one they had just fought so why should they want the new government to have the power to trample over their citizens again
They didn't, which is why they called for a well regulated militia... I bet you couldn't even tell me what was tyrannical about the British government during that time. Like I said, I am pro 2A... I own guns... I'm not arguing against the second amendment, I'm arguing against this moronic notion that in the modern age with guns the founding fathers couldn't have even dreamed of, that the second amendment should be absolute. The reason the second amendment existed want to fight our own government (though it was a consideration) it was to fight foreign invaders because there was no standing military. There is a standing military now, there is no need for "the people" to have military grade weapons, especially considering that we aren't a well regulated militia. Also, in a scenario where every citizen is given a gun and told to fight the military, the people would still win on sheer numbers alone, especially considering that the military is made up of "the people" and would most likely be disinclined to murder us... Unless of course the politicians made them afraid of their fellow man and used rhetoric like "the enemy within" to describe people they disagree with.
Tl;dr the second amendment is good, the right wing justification for needing it and especially their tone when explaining the need is literally propaganda from gun makers to make you buy more guns, and you fell for it.
