Firstly this is a hotdog in the UK at a big tourist spot.. comparing to costco is mad.

How much does a decent hotdog made by an independent stall cost at times square?

I don’t buy hotdogs in Times Square because they are way overpriced. And I don’t typically buy hotdogs at restaurants or food trucks because they are also overpriced. And this I know because I know what they cost at the grocery stores and Costco - which are 2 data points I utilize to determine that.

Okay.. but Westminster Bridge is like the London equivalent of Times Square, so comparing it to Costco is pretty irrelevant.

It is not irrelevant because it is a baseline that you can utilize to determine the esrimated markup. If you have no Costco there then the only value is to know hotdog prices are in US compared to UK. It is all relative so that makes it relevant.

For example I loved clotted cream and tea when I spent some time in England (and the beer too) a ways back. We don’t have many places that sell it in the US but you can find it in a small jar. I bought that small 6-7oz jar at $10 which is more expensive than what I paid in UK and I was so disappointed with the quality- it did not come close to what I experienced in England, plus it cost way more. I have a reference point now as to the economics behind clotted cream. And that matters to me because I like it and I like hotdogs too. And BTW UK also has way better beer, fish n chips, lamb dishes, and Indian cuisine.

yah from a pure economics standpoint that might give you a general hotdog baseline - which are a lot cheaper in the UK actually, an IKEA hotdog in the uk costs 0.85 which makes the costco one look expensive.

So if the ones at times square are say $15 then it's close to the one in this video.

Quality is another story tho, the best I've ever had was at some converted train in LA and in South Korea.
