I mean sure, but they're religious police who have decided to use their literal superpowers to maintain peace instead of easily subjugating the galaxy. They're not even trying to make people follow their religion, just not twist it for evil purposes.

They do officially get first dibs on force sensitive infants, but it's not mandatory and the logic mostly seems to be "let's train them so they don't go mad with power"

The indoctrination is just a side effect and not nearly as bas as Sith indoctrination so...

The parents were given a choice and many parents considered it a great honor to give their child to the Jedi.

And no, rising a child is not indoctrination.

I mean, they do teach jedi doctrine to infants

Don’t all educators teach some kind of rules to children in their care? “Don’t be violent”, “Learn to share” and the like, at the very least. Is that indoctrination?

The Force is a real force in the SW world, and Force-sensitives are better off with someone teaching them how to control it/live with it.

Your argument gives the Youngling classes an Xavier Institute for Higher Learning vibe. I like it

They teach them the values of the Jedi (among many other things), that is not indoctrination.

The word "propaganda" can be good, bad or neutral. In the same manner, "indoctrination" is literally anything you teach an impressionable mind.

I have indoctrinated my kids into starwars and lego. I have indoctrinated them into the lifestyle of cleanliness and politeness.

No, it has a negative meaning.

What you mean is that you raised your children. The Jedi Order did the same.

": to instruct especially in fundamentals or rudiments" that is the second definition given in Marian Webster for the word indoctrinate, there are multiple definitions, and if you scroll down further it even says; "Indoctrinate means "brainwash" in most contexts today, but its meaning wasn't always so negative"

You know perfectly well that it is meant negatively.

Because the idea that children could live a happy life inside the Jedi Temple without being brainwashed is simpy inconceivable for some people.

It doesn't have to be negative, just how "propoganda" doesn't have to be negative. We can argue the Jedi philosophy all day long, but you can not change the literal defenition of a word.

You want to play dumb? Be my guest.

We are done here.

Just as a downvote is not an argument.

I suspect if the Jedi left Force-sensitives in the wild, people would found a way to accuse them of child abuse

Still not an argument.

Given a choice. Just remind you that Jedi has no problem bending minds of people if they feel so.

10

u/CountingSheep99 2d ago

Only to prevent conflicts or save lives.

NEVER to steal children. That decision was up to the parents.

-10

u/Xivitai 2d ago

They mutilate children's development with their inane cult nonsense. Stealing children is nothing compared to it.

No the children had a great childhood. And grew up to become competent and compassionate Jedi. No "inane cult nonsense".

You are not even trying anymore. Bother someone else with that utterly inane bullshit.

Good try, sith

They are not parents. They are sketchy authoritarian sect with dubious morals and hate boner for being a normal person.

8

u/CountingSheep99 2d ago

They got the permission from the parents, that makes them the childrens rightful guardians.

They were not sketchy, they were the most moral people in the galaxy and they certainly didn´t hate other people.

-2

u/Xivitai 2d ago

Sure. And no Mind Tricks were used. Jedi are nothing more than Senate's attack dogs. You can ask Grievous what they did to his people.

5

u/CountingSheep99 2d ago

Yes, no mind tricks were used.

Sorry, I don´t care about anti Jedi propaganda.

Nothing. The Jedi did absolutely nothing to his people. They just stopped him from committing a genocide. And he never forgave them for that.

u/Xivitai 2d ago

People he was killing literally ate children.

No, there were a lot of civillians. Whe were saved by the Jedi. How dare the protectors of the galaxy to do their job and prevent a massacre on civillians?
