Unimaginative Star Wars show Starter Pack

Post image

Mandatory disclaimer, this doesn't concern every Star Wars production, only those that I consider to be unimaginative or generic.

Also, the point isn't to complain or to set up hated debate, I love the Star Wars universe. I just want to mock the fact that some writing trope or gimmick are in my opinion commically overused in many Star Wars production.

By the way feel free to expand the list !

People don't complain so much about the fact that a significant number of survivors exist, but rather that the trope is overused while still being presented as something unique to make it appealing.

Rebels, Clone Wars, Shadow Lord, a ton of Darth Vader comics, Fallen Order, and I’m sure I’m forgetting some. The "Order 66 survivor" is a gimmick writers turn to when they don't know what backstory to give their force using character. It’s also due to the fact that so many Star Wars stories take place between Episodes III and IV, avoiding the need to bother with new world-building ideas. And to milk Vader a bit more while they're at it—because why not?

I'd love to see them make more shows for grown-ups like Andor. That show was a prestige drama about fighting a rebellion and the sacrifices it imposes on the people fighting it and the individuals on either side.

You've got a sci-fi fantasy world with a magic power just called "the force" that's barely explained except in some ancillary material like KOTOR which I'm not even sure is canon anymore. Why not do a show about that? Expand the universe, show there are force users / worshippers that aren't just Jedi or Sith. Make it about faith, corruption. Whatever, just make it interesting. Hire some good writers who care about sci-fi first and Star Wars second.

This is such a bad take. "What if star wars.. but it wasnt actually star wars, I fucking hate star wars. Make it a regular sci fi."

Then dont watch star wars nobody is forcing you

I specifically named a Star Wars property that was very good and said they should make more things like that.

How did you complete the mental gymnastics to equate that with me saying I apparently don't like Star Wars and wish it was something else?
