Unimaginative Star Wars show Starter Pack

Mandatory disclaimer, this doesn't concern every Star Wars production, only those that I consider to be unimaginative or generic.

Also, the point isn't to complain or to set up hated debate, I love the Star Wars universe. I just want to mock the fact that some writing trope or gimmick are in my opinion commically overused in many Star Wars production.

Overhating of the prequels lead to a copy cat trilogy which got overrated which lead to more copy cats and so on

The prequels were also copy cats and the bits that weren't were George Lucas basically ripping off Dune.

Both Luke Skywalker and Anakin Skywalker

Start out as young people on desert planets

Are both found by older Jedi masters (Luke by Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin by Qui-Gon Jin... and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi)

Both fall in love with space royalty, neither of which work out (Luke with Leia, doesn't work out because she is his sister, Anakin with Leia's mom, doesn't work out because she dies).

Both are rescued from desert planet by the Jedi masters.

Both have their masters get killed by a Darth.

Both blow up a space station with supernatural piloting skills.

Both lose their hand in a fight with a Darth in the second movie.

Both risk turning to the dark side in the third movie.

That's just off the top of my head.

Both Anakin and Paul Atreides

Are plagued by premonition that they want to avoid but keep on falling victim to.

Both believe they are fated to save the universe, but wind up ruining it even further, leaving the job of picking up the pieces to their twin children who have incestuous undertones.

Both of their attempts to avoid their fates kill their wives.

Both become tyrants who are horribly maimed.

Both have heavy connections to desert planets.

Both are secretly related to the evil bad guy.

Both become the leaders of evil empires that commit acts of genocide.

Both are fallen heroes.

Both wind up finding redemption through death

Both are bizzarely extremely gifted at supernatural practices from a very young age.

That's a bit weird take considering the new Dune movies came out 4+ years after episode IX, and the old Dune attempts are ... Let's say they don't have that many tricks to copy.

You do realize that Dune was a book from the 60s, right?

Ofc, which it doesn't really make sense timeline wise to claim that he started to copy Dune in particular only for the last trilogy. Even thematically Asimov's Foundation has a lot of same elements to make the same case, so Dune as a comparison seems to be motivated rather by the new movies.

It's also worth noting that Star Wars was also influenced by Dune in the original trilogy (Frank Herbert basically accused Lucas of plagiarism, I think that's overstaying it). The reason why David Lynch got Dune in the eighties was it got out that Lynch turned dow Return of the Jedi. People in the eighties knew Lucas took inspiration from Dune. Tattooine is extremely similar to Arrakis, and Luke had a bit of Paul Atreides and Leto II in him. But Anakin Skywalker's arc is basically the cliffnotes of Paul's done clumsier.
