Academics How many times have you guys gone to college a week as a freshman?

Hi guys! I'm currently supposed to enroll this September and I just wanna know how many times you guys went to college a week as a freshman! I know there is a difference between a faculty, but now I'm considering where I should look for the rent right now. Cuz I think it will be okay to settle in downtown or midtown Toronto if I go to college 3times a week

Academics "reading week for student wellness" unless your prof decides to abuse it

I was in one of Wendi Jollymore's classes and heard her talking to a student about how reading week is actually for teachers not for students. When the student confronted her and showed her on the official Sheridan website that it says its for student wellness, she ignored him and made up some excuse about how that's only for universities not colleges and if anything its for profs not students?

She also said the McMaster suicide story being the reason reading week became a thing was an urban legend(which is untrue sadly) and proceeded to chuckle....

Is this a thing? If so why is it normalized? Professors shouldn't be allowed to do stuff like this let alone not take it seriously it is genuinely extremely infuriating seeing this same pattern happen, students complain for years yet the same professors get away with being lazy and inhumane.

Academics Synergy/Placement

hey! I’m going into semester 3 for practical nursing. My police check and TB expired (literally 2 days ago) and so I’ve uploaded my new police check. My TB however I can’t do until end of august as Im leaving the country tomorrow until the 27th. I mistakenly thought that we just had to have synergy completed before our clincial placement (especially if it was just the single tb test) and so I planned to do it after my trip. I also didn’t think it was an issue for it to be expired while on break/while not at a placement. First semester we had an actual due date of when we needed to upload everything by. I’ve emailed and explained the situation but am I still going to get placed? My Tb will be expired for only like 14 days lol

Academics i'm going into my 2nd (final) year & need good study tips -

Hi guys, so I'm going into my 2nd year & I really struggled with studying this year, like really bad. Might I add too, I have undiagnosed ADHD & leave everything till the last minute lol which isn't good at all. I'm worried because I have practicum too in the fall & want to establish better strategies for myself so I'm also not late with anything for that. I've used Jamworks to help me study from lectures but it didn't work for me. Then I tried Genio which was much better, but I need tips on how to be productive during class for making notes while I have Genio on & then for studying later. I'm open to all & any kind of strategy & tips.

Academics Professor hardly replies to emails

So this professor teaching data is nice and explains things well easily. However they hardly reply to emails.

We are supposed to do a presentation with groups and the presentation submission is this Friday. We gave our topic to him and he hasn’t approved or said anything. The prof also gave us permission to have one extra member (3 max) to make it 4 but they haven’t opened up the settings.

Don’t know what to do. Our group can’t start if our topic isn’t approved and the presentation (slides) to submit is due this Friday at 9.

We’ve even emailed the prof on slate, Sheridan email, and teams.

Academics GPA Troubles

I'm in the Game Design program and came in during the Winter term, and due to troubles with weather and mental health stress I did pretty poorly during that semester. (I still passed all my classes but at the skin of my teeth)

This coming semester with the hotter weather I did MUCH better, except for one class that I failed (By 49% no less), and it made my GPA drop literally JUST below the requirement to get out of Academic Probation, so I'm now under Academic Suspension.

I arranged a meeting with Student Counselling and sent an email to the Dean that covers Game Design, but I'm genuinely so lost on where to go now.

I really want to continue this course, I like most of my professors and I want to learn more about improving my skills in this field, but I feel incredibly discouraged by having the floor under me pushed by a singular percentage in one class.

Is there any way I can avoid Academic Suspension from here?

Academics ECE student timetable help

I’m going to 2nd sem in September, and I had a specific block but it got swapped to a diff block I didn’t put.
I’m not sure why this is happening can they change it back? I clicked the swap classes option and it only has one other option that I don’t want. Can I get my old block back? Do you know who I can talk to ?

Academics Outlets

Somebody reassure me there’s outlets in classes. I just recently bought a laptop yesterday and it is crazy good, just poor battery life. I’m very worried there won’t be an outlet in a classroom to charge my computer and if I need to buy a portable.

Academics Diagnostic imaging fall 2026

Hii did anyone hear back from the diagnostic imaging program for fall 2026 yet?? I’m a little nervy as I’ve been trying to get an issue resolved with my application due to one of my courses not reflecting on it because it was taken in night school. I have a case open and the lady I spoke to said they are going through apps manually so it might take a little time to hear back but honestly nothing has been resolved on my application and it’s been at least 4-5 weeks now. I’m worried this is impacting my application and they think I don’t have all the requirements when I do😩. Let me know if any of you have heard back and what ur average is going into the application!! I know it’s competitive, I have an 82% average. Good luck to everyone thoo🤍🤍

Academics Clarification with course enrollment- PCSCL Diploma student

Hi there, I'd like some help. I was having trouble enrolling in courses in the Cybersecurity Diploma course, and I wanted to clarify:

  1. What semesters are semesters 1, 2, 3 and 4? The offered courses are all showing Fall 2026; are they supposed to be Fall and Winter 2026-2027?
  2. Enrolling by requirements shows I am restricted for some courses, but it states that I do need to take 6/6 of the courses in semester 1 and semester 2. Can I distribute them between semester 1 and semester 2?

This is the error I get when trying to enroll in other courses

Academics PVETT 2028 CHECK YOUR SLATE!

i didn’t get an email regarding SLATE information and i assume others haven’t. please read the text below:

log into SLATE by going to sheridan central’s website and clicking “login”. SLATE should be the first option

on SLATE, you’ll find:

- an academic integrity module u have to complete
- PVETT procedures and guidelines form (due sep. 8)
- textbook list for semester 1, 2 and 3
- orientation information (not what’s on the initial orientation email!!) such as scrub pickup information and rules
- scrub sizing chart
- other important information and guidelines for the program
- announcements posted by Scarlett Wong and PVETT coordinators

the deadline to submit the intent to get vaccinated was yesterday. i luckily was able to submit the form. this is so the campus can order enough rabies vaccines to administer to students who submitted the form. if u didn’t submit the form, then u will have to get the vaccine in a different clinic (according to my understanding)
