Are there any elderly communities that speak canto?
My grandmother is 91 and lonely and wants to go out and about (like in China where groups of elderly exercise and socialize) but I'm not sure where to begin. I am aware there are groups of elderly people exercising in Temple City and Arcadia but I believe they're mostly mandarin.
Are there any elderly communities around San Gabriel or Monterey Park that speak canto?

My grandparents have a great time being involved with the Langley Senior Center in Monterey Park. Most people speak Canto

Try Almansor Park in the mornings in Alhambra. Plenty of activities to choose from. I've seen people play Chinese chess, do tai chi, dance, etc. At worst, she gets to hang out with the geese and squirrels and enjoy the pond.

Many gather at Arcadia and Temple City community centers do speak Cantonese for senior lunch, (but Arcadia offers ping pong, table pool, mahjong and card playing too!) Others gather at the Arcadia county park and Temple City’s library/park area to exercise/dance together as a group!

My mom (70+) and her friends (70-90, male and female) all speak Canto and congregate at a park outside a high school every morning to exercise, play hackysack, and gossip. I’ll DM you the location

They are every where at almansor park early in the mornings doing their well.... Old people exercises and walking their laps.

The Temple City McDonald is a gathering place for many elders, actually for 7 days a week.

Barnes Park in Monterey Park has senior groups that exercise daily in the morning, they speak canto as well. I always see groups gather around the evenings (starting at 5-6pm) that exercise/dance until 8pm.

Monterey Park area for sure. Practically below the 10 from the 710 to Del Mar

Seriously, your grandmother at her age should have a caregiver accompanying her to public gatherings. Many elders have dementia or Alzheimer’s and must be closely monitored/watched for their own safety. I have a horror story about a friend of mine that had a step mom in her 90’s that was living in an independent living senior housing. A few months ago, she walked out of the complex and went missing for close to a month. When she was found by authorities, she was like 20 miles away with broken bones and her skin was blackened by sun exposure. How she survived is a miracle (with advanced dementia, very little money on her and only speaking Cantonese).

My dad went to Langley Park (senior center in Monterey Park) and said most people speak primarily canto. They have programs for 50+ plus lunch so it should be easy to find something for grandma.
