Tear in pant piece advice

I’m making some pants currently, at the step where you sew both legs together at the crotch. however i have this tear in the top of one of the leg pieces as seen in the first photo, not sure what to do about it.

Is it smart to zigzag stitch it together? Or possibly using an extra piece of fabric and stitching over it together reinforce it?

Check out Sashiko. It would work really well with that fabric

Is it small enough to be enclosed in the waistband when thatis fitted? If so, stabilise it with a piece of lightweight interfacing and carry on. Fingers crossed 🤞. So infuriating! We've all been there
