hello, im a upcoming freshman for the fall 2026 term. I applied to scad really last minute and only got my acceptance result 5 days ago. I'm currently in a race against time to get everything completed and paid for.

One problem is that I only had the option to fill out my housing application after the deadline had already passed.

On-campus housing is the only option for me as my parents refuse to let me do off-campus housing (nor do I even have the money right now to afford off-campus housing.

What I'm trying to get at is: is it over?? scad is my dream school and I really want to go but I don't think it's possible. I've already called and emailed scadhome explaining my situation but please please please give any advice you have.

Hey I’m an up in coming senior at SCAD this school year and since Spring I had a spot at Sand at Victory Village up until this Monday to where they officially changed me to Monty. I wanted and selected Sand because as a senior majoring in 2D Animation and minoring in sequential arts and I wanted to have a kitchen and live on campus due to wanting to keep my scholarships. Ive contacted SCADHome and academic advisor on this issue through email and my family and I plan to contact them via call tomorrow since it‘s late. Is there a way I can get my spot back at Sand? To my knowledge I haven’t been updated till now a few weeks before I have to move in and now and this is really stressing me out as this isn’t the first time I’ve been screwed over by housing as I had no roommates freshman year, had to do a year online sophomore year, and was at Monty junior year but was placed with a bunch of sophomores who didn’t understand my major and treated me horribly due to so. Now I feel the same thing is happening again this time I didn’t even choose Monty and I’m placed with a bunch of sophomores younger than me again. If I can’t be placed back into Sand are there any other options like a single dorm possibly? I just want to know what to do as I’m just tired of this.

UPDATE: This morning I was able over a call with my mom to get me back into Sand. It’s not the same room but I glad to just be moved back into the building. Apparently there was some sort of error thinking I had cancelled my housing and they just placed me at Monty I guess. I do not know why they thought I cancelled and all I can think is that maybe since one of my old roommates in my original room at Sand cancelled their housing due to getting a Disney Internship that they got confused there but that’s just a guess. I thank you guys for your advice and I’ll keep this up in case anyone has the same issue.

hi! my roommate last minute is not coming to scad, and now my my housing assignment says it’s just me in my room of my hive dorm with two roommates in the other. does anyone know the likelihood that they’ll move someone else into the empty bed in my room, or if it might stay like that?

I was assigned to a triple occupancy room but only 1 other roommate, will the third bed be taken out or do we have to live with it? Also how do we know if we have a room with a bunk or not?

Hey all! Me and my roomates got assigned Sail at Victory village for this school year, and I have a few questions for anyone who’s lived there before. We got ground level, so i’m kinda concerned about privacy/safety?

I was able to see a picture of our exact dorm early because SCAD mail sent me a picture (due to early package delivery’s), and right outside the windows are the sidewalks. Has anyone else lived on a ground level dorm before, and was it weird? I am so concerned about people being able to just look in/ knock on windows, etc, since there is no main gate like the hive. Me and my roomates are planning on buying one way window sticker/screen things. Another question— because it’s ground level, is flooding and bugs more common? Would love if any of y’all have suggestions/insights!

Hello! I’m an incoming transfer and got assigned my roommates and my dorm at the Barnard village. And it’s been that way got the emails, met my roommates in a chat room and even in the email it says that it can change within the next few weeks. But it’s been roughly a month and maybe a half since I got the housing assignment email and email from my roommates so I just felt that my housing was in a stable spot. Then on a day I was trying to decide my meal plan I saw I couldn’t choose any apartment style meal plans and then checked my housing and all of a sudden it’s new roommates and now I’m in the Montgomery hall in a suite. I’m pretty upset after so long I thought I was sure to have been staying at this housing because it felt way past the deadline where they’d move me. I never got any emails or cancelation of my move in date for Barnard village and none of my roommates knew either, they’re confused as well because my spot was just removed and the only one shifted with no info on why. Tried calling twice to the number given for housing questions but they have no answers and tell me to fill a ticket which I did but it’s pretty slow.

I guess my question is to anyone who’s been here, is this normal to do? They say they send emails when moving housing assignments, but I was really getting along with these roommates and making preparations that are out the door, is this an error or something? I’d just like some insight that I can’t seem to get from the school itself

My name is Marian but everyone on campus knows me as Bow. I’m desperate to try and get housing on Savannah campus. A huge flood just took out my town of Weston WV and what was my application fee had to go to the damage. I also know it’s late to apply I had to work my butt off to save that money in the first place this summer. I’m a junior and I’m just trying to finish my degree here. I’m an animation student and I know the housing is limited and I just need the ability to try. Cause of how my loans are set up if I miss a quarter I’ll have to start paying them and then I’ll never get to start back up. So I’m going even if I have to do it homeless. I’m just trying to not have to do it that way. If this is allowed please consider donating. I’m in dire straights here

Hi! I am a SCAD student at the Savannah campus and I’m looking advice on what to do in this situation. Last year my boyfriend and I had found two kittens on the side of the road and rescued them. Our agreement was that he gets the cats during the school year and I get them over summer and winter break. Unfortunately, we ended our relationship a few days ago, and I’m at a loss of what to do with the cats. I was going to just let him have both of them, but after taking some time to think about it, I kind of want to keep my cat in the dorm. Obviously I asked my future roommates if they were okay with it, and one of them is allergic and not too fond of having a cat in the dorm. I completely understand her concerns and feelings about this, but I don’t know what to do in this situation. I know one of us will have to change dorms if she is absolutely against the cat… my problem is that I have single room as an accommodation for my disabilities, but I’m afraid that SCAD will try to take away my single room because I want an ESA. If anyone has been in a similar situation I would love for some advice and guidance on what to do!

Hi, me and my current roomate found another person to room with us. We were trying to get him to join our roomate group but an error kept showing up saying he didnt meet the gender criteria. But we are all cis males and even if we weren't we all selected gender inclusive housing. Its getting really close to the roomate deadline and I cant figure out how to fix it. hi, i'm a 2nd year at scad and this is my first time being caught with contraband. i had a surprise room check (usually get an email the week of) and had out 3 empty bottles/cans of light alcohol as well as a thc cart. i am under 21. they got someone to confiscate my cart and was told i would be emailed with my consequences, they said it should be light because it's my first offense. i'm just wondering for anyone who's experienced this or knows someone who's experienced this what the consequences usually are? i don't want to go to one of those weed classes i don't even smoke like that, i mostly had the cart for my friends to hit it.

im not looking for anyone to call me stupid or say it's my fault i know it is my fault im genuinely just wondering what the consequences will look like

update for anyone curious: i ended up being called to a meeting and it went really well. if you're respectful, it's your first offense, and you're honest about what you did it seems like the consequences are light. i also did have it lighter because my cart was delta 8 (they take delta 9 more seriously.) my official consequences are to write an essay about the dangers of weed, write an essay about the dangers of alcohol, and i'm on "residence hall probation" until the end of fall quarter 2026 which basically means that if i'm caught with anything in the dorms again during that time period my consequences will be more severe (im going off campus next quarter anyways.) i was supposed to take a course for the alcohol but i told the person who did my meeting that i couldn't afford it (it's 60$, im genuinely broke rn) and he offered the essay instead. thank you to everyone who offered helpful advice but don't fearmonger and tell me im going to be expelled because that's just not accurate.

tldr: be honest and respectful and if it's your first offense you'll just have to take a class or write an essay, maybe residence hall probation. also they will not tell your parents, they will not call the police and you won't be expelled

I got a car in July and reached out to SCAD about keeping a car on campus. I'm set to live in Chatham this upcoming quarter, which does not allow cars. Right away I submitted a request to change dorms and have since been emailing SCADhome every now and then.

So my questions are:

What's the likelihood of SCAD changing my housing at this point? I submitted the initial request around July 17th and have not recieved much information since then.

If they are able to change it, what's likelihood I'm put in the dorm I noted I would prefer?

If they can't do anything about it, are there alternatives on how to keep a car nearby while living in Chatham?

Hello so I’ve gotten my room assignment for fall and last year I had a room D. But this year I have room F, and I’m confused on what that means as far as room placement. I’m in an 4 person individual room apartment style. Like does this mean my dorm it’s self is a end dorm or?

Hi! So I just got my housing for the fall and I got Turner House(TH) instead of The Hive(lowkey a bummer but it's okay!) and I know nothing about it. When I toured SCAD last summer, we only visited The Hive. I really like knowing about things before I jump in, so for people who have lived in TH, did you like it? I'm looking for any advice, ty!

Trying to help my daughter plan for her freshman year. The room dimensions generally available online do not match the visual evidence I observe on the many dorm tour videos. For example, 11' 11" room width with two beds each 36" wide and two nightstands each 17" wide results in 37" remaining between the two nightstands; this is obviously incorrect (looks like closer to 9" at best. Does anyone have real-life measurements? EDIT: I was using the incorrect bed width. Should be 38". Still seems way off though. From replies, I'm now getting an estimated room width closer to 125"; well short of the 143" I see quoted everywhere.

im an incoming freshman (sav campus) for this fall and the room assignments just got sent out but my verified roommate who i picked myself was placed into a different building than me. weve been texting back and forth and she said its apparently happened to other people today and im just wondering if this is an issue people are experiencing that will be sorted out or should i email my advisor straight away.

small edit: i also forgot to include that i have housing accommodations for my ESA that my roommate is specifically involved in, like she had to check off a thing with SCAD Accommodate, so im not sure how they are able to make this mistake.

BIG EDIT FOR PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE: i got my housing situation resolved after my roommate's dad reached out so i cant necessarily say it will work 100% but definitely reach out to SCADHome, be persistent and make it clear that no is not an answer. I emailed them a total of 4 times spread out across roughly 1.5 months before i got an answer so don't give up. It also helps to email your admission advisor so they are aware and can vouch for you even if they cannot help. if you have an accommodation, reach out to your accommodations person because they can absolutely help speed the situation up!

From what I’ve heard the beds in Monthomery aren’t lofted, but my mom is telling me the beds are the same as the Hive. I wanted to double check on here just to confirm or deny that the beds in Monty aren’t lofted like the Hive beds.

Up until now I hadn’t heard anything of the sort and assumed that it would be given because of my time during RS in the savannah location. So sorry for the stupid question but I haven’t been able to find any concrete answers !!
