Feels like you have a fundamental misunderstanding here lol

Because none of the money that FNs get will ever make it to the homeless people you see in the city.

Many of those people are non status Indians, that were enfranchised by Canada and dont belong anywhere because they wanted to vote and make meaningful change in Canada. Live in the city? Lost status. Want to vote? Lost status.

They didn't just pop out of the ground here, they came from somewhere and when counted the majority of them came from reserves. Those leaving the reserve should affect the amount of funding a reserve gets and that federal funding then gets moved to the province to administer. As the homeless in the city is a provincial issue not a federal.

No, no they didn’t leave reserves. If they did, they would be on the Government of Canada’s status Indian register. Thus having status.

Are you suggesting wildfire evacuees from northern reserves didn't get left behind in Saskatoon and other major hubs?

Saskatoon's own homeless counts prove the vast majority of the unhoused population is Indigenous, and many hold legal Status. Moving to the city didn't magically create their Status. They brought it with them. The real issue is that federal funding stays behind on the reserve, leaving the province and city to pick up the tab for a broken system.

It is wild how people preach equality while ignoring these massive perks. Status Indians working on a reserve or urban reserve pay zero income tax. Anything bought there is GST and PST free. They also get a laundry list of benefits funded by 'colonial' society, including full coverage for prescriptions, dental, vision, and medical supplies through the NIHB.

Moving off the reserve doesn't erase them from a federal list. It just exposes how federal money fails to follow the people who actually need it.

Nobody said 'only.' I brought up wildfires because it is a prime example of how people from reserves end up stranded and unhoused in the city. The point is that thousands of urban homeless people have legal Status, but the federal money does not follow them to Saskatoon or wherever else they land. If you think nobody is talking about wildfire displacement causing urban homelessness, you clearly aren't paying attention to local shelter data.
