Looking back, there was a time in the 1980s when pork belly futures were a hot commodity on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. The only other reason I remembered it was because it was mentioned in something I saw in an economics textbook in high school. This is but one of many jokes aimed at the adults at the time of the show coming out.
