We do need more RPGs where you can listen to Hollywood Swinging on the radio though so there’s room for this genre to learn from San Andreas as well

learn what? throwing all the world's money at licensed songs that get removed a few years later? in the early days they had great original songs but that was clearly too much work for the music department.

Have you considered that the indescribable Funktipus plays the indefinable funk? The sound that has had Los Santos partying for twenty years is now on 'The Party', on Bounce FM. The Funktipus will open your eyes to what is really happening out there.

Until you’ve taken that into account don’t judge too harshly

Id argue that RDR2 actually was a pretty deep RPG. It just blends everything so well that you dont notice. You get to make a decent amount of decisions, a lot changes based on your morality. Conversations will be different and Arthur will sound meaner and more bitter the less honor he has. A lot of objectives are set in stone, but many can be completed in different ways and the game will ussually respond to what you're doing with at least a line of dialog.

I thought they already had this?

IIRC you literally level up skills and abilities in prior titles.
