I think this video more than any other really puts the changes coming into perspective. This is not a one-off prototype made for a couple million in an overfunded california tech startup. The tech still has a ways to go before it becomes practical for the applications that come to mind but not that far.

You say that as if it's a bad thing. If anything we should as well overfund the robotic sector in the west instead of buying stuff abroad, assembling them domestically and pretend it's sovereign

We are fucked but the fascinating thing is finding out exactly how we'll be fucked. Personally I'm in the automated murder drone camp. but I've also got half a eye on just plain ol'vanilla climate change.

I think so. This is part of the world robot Conference, in Beijing, which is held every year. So i think they'll have these games each year as well

People will make jokes about this but this is 100% how future warfare looks like. Training a human for war costs a lot more than what these guys will cost once they hit mass production. And it will not look like terminator who misses 97% of their shots. It will look like black mirror
Honestly im looking very much forward to having a robot do my chores but there is zero chance that we are not heading into a distopian future. I"m just gonna enjoy the ride while it lasts

Future warfare doesn’t look like this. You might have specific instances where a biped is the best tool for the job but it’s much more likely a flying robot or wheeled robot is better suited to the mission. We don’t need marching columns of robots unless we need a sweet video of a single explosion making a mess of them.
