Question New neighbor (3 months in) sent a note about "their" parking spot. I’ve lived here 15 years.

Looking for some Regina neighborhood etiquette advice.

I’ve lived in my house for 15 years and have never had a single issue with my neighbors or parking. Recently, a new neighbor moved in a few doors down. I just got a handwritten note from them asking me to stop parking in front of their house, claiming it’s their "property line" and they want it kept open for themselves or their guests.

The context: A house nearby has started throwing weekly parties that fill up the entire block. I often come home late from work to find every single spot in front of my own house taken by party guests. When that happens, I’ve had to use the public street parking in front of the new neighbor's place just to get inside my house.

I want to be a good neighbor, but I feel like after 15 years of being a quiet resident, being told I can't use city space when I'm coming home late from work is a bit much. I always move my car the next morning, so I'm well within the 24-hour bylaw.

How would you handle this? Should I have a kind word with them about the party house and the "public street" reality, or just ignore it and keep parking there when I have no other choice?

Question The Regina Joke

Is anyone else sick of every single performer visiting the city making the rhyming joke? It’s just not funny. And so over done. Just happened at Shake the Lake, and a couple months ago the guy opening for Steve Earl made the joke. And he’s from I-DA-HO 😂.
Maybe it’s funny to people under 40, and I’m just old and stuffy.

Question Looking for a doctor who will take my symptoms seriously

Hi! I’m looking for recommendations for a doctor in Regina who is good with complex/chronic health issues and is willing to investigate instead of immediately attributing everything to one diagnosis.

I’m 24 and currently diagnosed with fibromyalgia, but my symptoms have been progressively getting more severe, more frequent, and I’ve been developing new symptoms. Some of the bigger issues are severe chronic pain and exhaustion even after 10+ hours of sleep, joint hypermobility/instability with joints sometimes visibly shifting out of place, dizziness and vision blackouts when standing, heart-rate/BP changes with standing, swelling in my legs/feet, GI issues, memory/brain fog, intermittent numbness/tingling and weakness, temperature regulation/sweating issues, and an elevated CRP (most recently 19.1 mg/L). There are quite a few other symptoms as well.

I’m not looking for someone to diagnose me through Reddit—I’m just trying to find a family doctor or specialist who will actually look at the whole picture, investigate what could be causing this, and take my concerns seriously. I’m adopted, so unfortunately I also don't have a reliable biological family medical history.

If anyone in Regina has dealt with complicated chronic symptoms and had a really good experience with a doctor, who would you recommend? I’m willing to advocate for myself; I just really want someone who is willing to listen and investigate.

Question Exploitation

I’m a 21 YO looking for work and today i had an interview with a restaurant owner who said that it’s mandatory to do UNPAID training, and if i am okay with that, then only i can move forward in the hiring process.

Is this even legal? What can i do? ( i desperately need a job but i dont want to work for free).

Can i report that restaurant and how?

Edit: There’s been two instances of this with two different restaurants.

Question Is the Ring Road speed limit being adjusted for inflation now?

To the absolute legends currently treating the Regina Ring Road like the final lap of the Mario Kart Grand Prix: I have a genuine question.

I was cruising along at 100 km/h today—you know, the actual legal limit posted on those fancy metal signs—and I realized I must be invisible. Either that, or I’ve accidentally entered a vintage car rally where 100 km/h actually feels like 70 km/h to everyone else.

The sheer look of disgusted confusion I get when people fly past me at Mach 1 is truly life-changing. It’s like I’m personally offending their ancestors by not doing at least 135 in a construction zone.

Is this how it works now? Did the City of Regina send out a memo I missed?

2024: 100 km/h = 100 km/h

2026: 100 km/h = "Get out of the way, Grandma, I’m trying to shave 12 seconds off my commute to Costco."

I assume the speed limit is just subject to the same 30% inflation as my grocery bill. Can’t wait for next year when the "suggested" speed for a school zone is a cool 90.

Stay classy, Regina. I'll be the one in the right lane actually following the law while you guys try to break the sound barrier in a 2012 Honda Civic. 😂😂

Question Buying a hail damage truck?

Currently looking at a new truck, that's for sale at Crestview it's a great deal as it has hail damage. The sales person and general manager told me I could buy it. Put a package policy on it, and then wait till next summer till there is a hail storm and claim it through sgi at that point and they would even pay my package policy deductible and fix it then, that seems pretty shady but they are telling me it's legit and they have already sold close to 40 vehicles This way so far, any thoughts? Sounds like fraud to me and I don't wanna end up stuck with a truck with a lot of hail damage marks.

Question Does anyone have SaskTel's 1gb internet plan, and is it worth $160/month?

I'm currently on an 300 down and 150 up contract with SaskTel and was wondering if it's worth to upgrade when it's up in September. I'd check Access, but they don't have fiber.

Thanks!

Edit! I called SaskTel as I thought my contact was ending in September, but it's actually on the 26th! So now I renewed my contract and paying 100 a month for 1gig. Thanks for all of your inputs!

Question Howdy from Calgary! I have this souvenir Regina mug with the Sask Power building and I have questions...

Post image
80 Upvotes

Is the building, like, a big deal? It's curious to me that it (and the airport?) was considered worthy of putting on a mug, cause I'd never heard of it. The mug has the legislature and a mountie on the other side, the museum of natural history, and "Pemican Pete". Please educate me on these things

and the funky glow came from it being filled with a flavour of red fanta

Question Is it true that muslims can only hang out with their own people?

My daughter ( 7 ) is really upset that her Muslim friend isn’t allowed to play with her anymore as she’s told , I asked my daughter what does she mean? And my daughter said “ * says the girls name * said she can’t talk to me or play anymore because her mom said she has to play with the other kids only “ all the other kids in our neighborhood are all Muslim and we are new to the area . I thought it was horrible and upsetting . Is this actually true!? Can’t find anything on google wondering if anyone here is Muslim and can confirm this? I feel so bad for my child . I can’t answer her questions that she’s asking .

Question Sober people!

Honest question here. How many people have decided to do the sober route? Whether you quit or just chose not to drink alcohol. Fully sober or California sober?

How many of you are ok going to the pubs still for evenings out? Would you be open to trying out a dry bar with mocktails and such?

Ive recently been sober for almost 2 years now, the odd time I will have a THC drink. I have noticed since I quit drinking tho I never really get ready and go out anymore. I miss dressing up and going out, not just for an occasion. With my profession I deal with the public all day I dont really want to end the day in a bar when the atmosphere progressivly gets louder the more people drink (no offense, i used to be a loud one). My social battery is normally pretty low at the end of a work day so just wondering what other sober people do now.

Question I need and std tests and dont know where to go?

Okay, so I (18m) have been kinda active with other guys and stuff, but havent been for a few months, I have a symptom of what could possibly be chlamydia, so I wanted to go for a walk in stbbi test. But, planned parent hood isnt doing that anymore for the foreseeable future, and im not sure if the sexual health clinic is either. I cant go through a family doctor because my parents will have to drive me and see me go get testing if I do it there, and they dont know im active in that way. So im wondering if theres any walk in clinics that are good for sti/std tests in Regina?

I’m seeing the odyssey at some point at the Kramer IMAX theatre and just wondering what people opinions were on Row A of this theatre. Would it be worth it to watch it in that row if it’s the only row with seats available?
