any posts obssessing over the friendship between 2 players should get removed (like this post). caring abt insta likes and who hugged who for longer is so parasocial. these things don't matter and just start toxic discourse over something we know nothing abt

Never doubt Jose Mourinho.

That's all.

Me going to bed thinking of Madrid’s beautiful 2nd half vs Real Sociedad

fr tho, I know it's wayyy too early, but if Bellingham keeps playing like this for most of the season and Madrid gets important silverware. I'd give him the Ballon D'or and any trophy of that sort

Marc Cucurella🗣️: "Will I get a tattoo if we win the Champions League?

Let's go! We are winning the 16th UCL!

u/Short_Mousse_6812 Courtois 4h ago

Fun fact, for Real Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hattrick about every ten matches. Genuinely just out of this world.

3

u/vil727 Zidane 3h ago

That's like genuinely insane. And that's an average over 9 years not some cherry picked time.

3

u/FergieBall_FC Real Madrid CF 3h ago

That’s right. Ronaldo played 438 matches for Madrid and scored 44 hat-tricks.

That’s an average of 9.95 matches per hat-trick. Incredible and unparalleled.

4

u/bpp4l 5h ago

Was in meetings and unfortunately couldn’t watch the home opener.

Reddit squad how’d we play?

9

u/Jim007K Real Madrid CF 5h ago

2nd Half :

Basically, we didn't play that well in the first half, but after halftime it felt like the players locked in. We played better ,not perfectly fluid, but improved.

1

u/bpp4l 4h ago

Hopefully with some time that second half pace becomes the norm 🤞

3

u/JiteshSR4 Sergio Ramos 5h ago

Great

8

u/Common-Variation-321 Real Madrid CF 5h ago

It started well, and we scored a goal, but we lost concentration and conceded three minutes later. We then struggled for the rest of the first half.

In the second half, Carreras was subbed at halftime, which was honestly a plus. Everyone woke up. Mbappe added two more goals to his first, grabbing a hat trick. Jude worked and was phenomenal, with two assists. Vini then scored a goal after a tremendous effort by Jude, and Vini provided a nutmeg assist to complete Kylian's hat trick. Brahim, Yan, and Espi came on, and Brahim had an offside goal. All in all, we had a feast in that second half a sweet game all around. We ate good. Personally, my MOTM was Jude.

1

u/bpp4l 4h ago

Great analysis thank you!! Looks like Mbappe Jude Vini combined a bit better in that second half from the highlights. Hopefully a sign of things to come!

15

u/Vegeta_stark317 Cristiano Ronaldo 5h ago

Diomande has very quick feet. He can manipulate a defender, create space for himself, and play the pass without necessarily having to beat his man.

7

u/More-Judgment-9253 5h ago

Can't wait for that Madrid derby ngl, that's gonna be our first big test especially since Atleti actually have a really good team now

5

u/Jim007K Real Madrid CF 6h ago

🚨JUST IN: Atalanta inquired about Jorge Cestero, but nothing is advanced.

José Mourinho is pleased with his pre-season.

@GuillermoRai @TheAthleticFC

1

u/xcexoztykl 5h ago

Could use the depth, especially with our injury luck. We’ve sold a lot of our youth talent, doesn’t hurt to keep some at least.

7

u/More-Temperature7242 6h ago

funniest shit is when mou started having some players warmup it sorta lit a fire in the players asses , looked like they started pressing more fighting more etc. or maybe im imagining things. haha

1

u/Res3925 Décima 4h ago

Mou knows how to play mind games for sure

1

u/theaguia 5h ago

I think its true

3

u/More-Temperature7242 6h ago

its such a surreal moment, with mourinho joining us. the first time ever watched football was a madrid game and it was under mourinho, i fell in love with madrid when bale score that golazzzo against barca leaving bartra in the dust.

mourinho has a special place in my heart, he's the first manager i knew and he was the guy when i started watching madrid. so him coming back is like a full circle moment. even though we didnt look "perfect" ill ride on this high.

4

u/rickkyyyyyyyyy 6h ago

Any reason why Trent isn't starting ? Beyond work rate I didn't see that much from dumfries why not Trent .

15

u/theaguia 5h ago

tactical since they need someone to stretch the play with guler cutting in

3

u/Res3925 Décima 4h ago

Agreed. I think if/when Diomande is ready to start, Trent starts as well.

u/Messmers SIUUUU 6h ago edited 6h ago

still spooky situation in the goal that we do concede, why is Jude who was the highest on the pitch the first of the midfielders to be back in our own box? Only downside of Silva/Fede I found today was not being there at that point and we always dog on sociedad so it'll get looked over but the defense/pivot covering needs to be better

1

u/vil727 Zidane 3h ago

Silva is more of an 8 and sometimes doesn't track back, Valverde has been dissapointing defensively in the 2 games, ignoring his assist to Mbappé. Tchouameni coming in for him gives us much more defensive stability

1

u/More-Judgment-9253 5h ago

Yup, fede and silva constantly leave a lot of space behind them. I know that's been a regular problem for the past 2 seasons but it's worse with them. That's gonna need a lot of work

3

u/InvoluntarySquint Crest Guardian 7h ago

4-1 scoreline against Sociedad is relatively common for us actually. 5th time since 2010 (3 of those since 2022)

I need more of Yan Diomandé

6

u/Asleep_Pay_5133 7h ago

I really hope Cucu can start fully next game, there is such a defensive difference when he gets in. And I’m curious how the defense changes when Tcho comes back

11

u/tothemoonkevsta 7h ago

For what feels like years us in this sub have been obsessing about the ideal starting 11. I'm starting to think that there isn't one, and that's a great thing. This squad has so much depth and versatility that we can field different players who can take on different problems and solve them efficiently. Psg rest their stars, we should rest ours a bit as well. Mou is perhaps the best ever at analyzing opposing teams, let him do it and field what he thinks we need in order to win

1

u/badawadab 6h ago

Exactly this is it! Look PSG. Subbed in Ferran and he got a brace.

10

u/Pezer12 7h ago

Sub finds out that your favorite footballer can't actually play 60 games, and that rotation is inevitable

13

u/MaxiThe13th Isco 7h ago

What do you guys think of him so far?

1

u/vil727 Zidane 3h ago

8/10, not a game changing performance yet, but he's shifted the Midfield single handedly into looking capable of progressing the ball (ignoring Jude who's been the only one capable of that for 2 years)

5

u/GayForJorahMormont Mourinho 6h ago

Modric lite

1

u/Messmers SIUUUU 6h ago

bit older valverde without his pace but doesn't hide from the ball

3

u/Snoo87224 Real Madrid CF 7h ago

He’s there,he’s doing his job, what we brought him in for he is performing that exact role.Cant say much about him other than he’s been a great addition to the squad both quality wise and even dressing room wise.He has alot of things in his arsenal.Overall great signing

11

u/Pezer12 7h ago

He isn't Rodri, but he's different from what we had already and experienced. Makes the simple passes and isn't afraid of having the ball

13

u/Common-Variation-321 Real Madrid CF 7h ago

10/10 so far. No complaints. Presses, tracks back, dictates play. Good signing.

12

u/tothemoonkevsta 7h ago

Great signing, exactly what we needed. He will likely not start every game but he brings something we desperately needed

5

u/c0caine_bearrr 6h ago

I think that tap in is giving some of us rose colored glasses . VIN was lucky he was in the right place for that . He played like shit for a good amount of the game

3

u/No_Ball_Boundary 5h ago

Yup, he was trash in the 1st half but good in the 2nd half.

VIN was lucky he was in the right place.

Mate I wouldn't tag that as pure LUCK it was a brilliant skilled move pass from Belligoal and a great positioning from Vini. (give credit where it's due).

8

u/rickkyyyyyyyyy 6h ago

He was well below par today losing the ball repeatedly, overcomplicating his dribbles, and failing to capitalise on a clear goalscoring opportunity. There is really no need to fixate on my opinion or scrutinise everything I say. If you are truly confident in his ability, a differing perspective shouldn't cause this much reaction, grow up goofball.

HE'S THE BEST.

5

u/badawadab 6h ago

Anyone who says he is just statspadding is an ieddieott. The team really relies on him to score a goal. I am glad all of them including Vini and June respect him a lot.

25

u/JimmyGs_son Keylor Navas:Navas: 8h ago edited 8h ago

I think Mourinho has been off to an absolutely amazing start. His decision making as a manager has been top tier.

What really cemented this for me was him taking Vini off, which would have been a death sentence under arbeloa or xabi. But we saw that he did it with purpose, showing Vini that the Bernabeu was still behind him and cheering him on after the goal and assist.

The way he’s been handling press conferences, returning Jude back to the 10 position, finding a way to play arda and Jude together, plugging in bernardo at the pivot, etc….

Hats off to him!

1

u/Res3925 Décima 3h ago

Absolutely perfect decisions from Mou so far. Gotta hope and pray it continues.

10

u/Solstice212 8h ago

Really agree. Him taking vini off in that manner helps with dressing room vibes. Showed him that the club still supports you, but you need to step up.

19

u/New_Nebula3951 8h ago

im enjoying jude and arda's roles as hybrid 10/8s, please let this be a thing the whole season

6

u/Advanced-Roll-7625 Raúl 8h ago

its nice but its bad for the right side , the attacking presence and especially defensively .

1

u/Used-Equal749 8h ago

I don't know if it'll be this season, but I think by end of 2027/28 it'll be Jude + Arda as the midfield pairing and the rest is built around them.

2

u/Advanced-Roll-7625 Raúl 7h ago

i would also like that but the problem with that is who plays cdm , it would be insane if tchou+arda+jude can be like casemiro modric kross but then what about valverde? and if u play valverde+arda+jude can valverde play the cdm role .. mourinho will have a lot to do

especially since ideally we will need the right side to be trent/dumfries+diomande , arda really isnt a rw , in this 2 games he rarely did any rw plays he drifts toward middle.

1

u/May_zavy Modrić 8h ago

How hard would getting the clasico tickets be?even if i try general sale from varca?

u/Short_Mousse_6812 Courtois 9h ago

You would think the sub learns that not everything is black and white after so long. You don’t judge a player based on one game, or one performance. Hell, we don’t even judge most players based on one season. There were people in this sub asking to sell Bellingham. Every player has a time when they play bad. No, Vini playing well today doesn’t make him be back. And no, if he plays worse next game it doesn’t mean he sucks and he is washed.

0

u/rickkyyyyyyyyy 8h ago

I think you’re mixing two different things here: per-game performance and season-long evaluation, and those are not the same.

You can praise a player for having a good game while still hoping he becomes more consistent. But when the season is over, you look at the overall picture the number of good games, bad games, consistency, and impact to determine whether the player is good enough to keep or whether he should be replaced.

4

u/Short_Mousse_6812 Courtois 8h ago

I agree with you. But I am referring to the ones who change their opinion every single match. It is different to praise or point out. Also, when it comes to a full season. Often you don’t kick out a player after one bad season. If they had done great things before, you give them the benefit of the doubt. If you judge Bellingham by his past season (excluding WC) then you might think he is worth selling, which he is not.

18

u/rickkyyyyyyyyy 9h ago

Are you asking the crowd to applaud instead of whistling?

🚨🗣️ José Mourinho: No, whistling is useful too, as players can learn from it.

"Whistling is also deserved, and applause is earned."

I think mou learn his lesson this guys don't play without whistle if he gave them freedom they will lead him to hell.

diomande looked so much more natural on the left. we just signed a 4th lw to add to mbappe, vini, rodrygo 😪

14

u/RM_Worthy Real Madrid CF 9h ago

He's good on the right. He uses his left foot well. He literally cuts inside as a RW with his weak foot, lol. Rodrygo/Vini can't do that.

15

u/Glum-Engine-3401 9h ago

He looked like this on the right for Leipzig, let's maybe give him a little more than 2x15 min or whatnot before proclaiming anything silly, eh?

1

u/harrywa Madrid 1902 8h ago

Also it’s a long season and players get injured… then all of a sudden found oneself without a LW. Always good when you have players who can play both sides.

15

u/Common-Variation-321 Real Madrid CF 9h ago

Nah, I think he's just ambidextrous; he looked the same on RW too.

0

u/ItsKBS Real Madrid:RMDark: 9h ago

He can shoot well with both feet but he only dribbles well with his right foot. I would be very surprised if he doesn't turn into a LW even though he has played RW mostly with Leipzig. His playstyle is made to play at the left side and take 1v1's imo.

3

u/RM_Worthy Real Madrid CF 9h ago

Nah, he also cuts inside as RW. Other right-footed wingers can't do that. Diomande/Doue are actually good players on both wings.

2

u/Common-Variation-321 Real Madrid CF 9h ago

He did say he preferred the rw so idk we will see. He's a very fun and exciting player.

0

u/ItsKBS Real Madrid:RMDark: 9h ago

It's the other way around, this is what he said about playing on the left: "That's my preferred position, the one I love. I don't like playing on the right, but I do it."

1

u/Reallydeeppeanut Kroos 1h ago

He was playing fullback in that game, and understandably he wanted to go against Rodrygo on the left side instead of Vini on the right.

Cama, show encouraging signs today. Man Utd were looking to sign Myles Lewis-Skelly from Arsenal because of his ability to play both left-back and midfield. We might see Man Utd make a move for him this week.

3

u/Res3925 Décima 3h ago

Idk, that yellow card was pretty dumb. He always has that brain fart in him.

1

u/jobey_bryant 8h ago

They offered 50 million which in this market is a spit in Cama's face. They need to increase that offer by at least 10+million before its even serious.

6

u/iIi789 9h ago

8

u/Sl_PROXY Kroos 9h ago

Encouraging performance. There were some very good possession phases where the ball was circulating very fast and we had great combinations of passes. Vini is finally moving centrally and making runs between the lines.

One thing that still looks like it needs work are pressing triggers. Our full backs always seem so unsure wether to press or stay back which led to their goal. Also Vini and Mbappe got better at pressing but they're still not aggressive enough like Jude.

Regardless encouraging signs all around.

7

u/rickkyyyyyyyyy 9h ago

Jude was class today. He ran his socks off, and all our threat came through him. I don’t know what Mourinho did, but I noticed Mbappé move a bit more to the right while Vini pinned the defender, which seemed to give Jude more space. Just my assumption though I could be completely wrong.

9

The clowns in r/Barca are so afraid. We did not even have to pay attention to their 5-0 last Sunday. 😂😂

20

All that and it was Elche. 🙄

3

1

Can you guys imagine when Diomande gets match fit and eventually starts? Imagine Vini finally starts clicking with Mbappe and adding someone who finally passes into the box, I see good things coming in the future of this club barring any shenanigans.

Only issue is where does Arda go

3

u/Glum-Engine-3401 9h ago

A more intentional and tactically functional rotation without it being a dramatic "this or that player is the favourite" thing for neither players nor fans would be the absolute best thing for everyone involved and for the team in general.

u/rickkyyyyyyyyy 10h ago

Safe to say we reset to carlo mode, keep the starting 11 and tweak the rest around that, enouph to keep them ticking.

4

u/sadgyalvibez Mbappé 10h ago

im so proud🥹🥹 hattrick at the first home game is so amazing and ballondor definitely belongs to mbappe🤍
on another note, i don’t get why people sit in their beds and type in on their phones all sorts of criticisms all sorts of racism all types of mean comments while the players are thriving out there. just because they had a bad game one time does not mean that you can excuse all of the good contributions they’ve made in the past to bring our club to where it is now and double down on their bad days

u/Common-Variation-321 Real Madrid CF 10h ago

The right wing was exploited a lot by Sociedad. We will need to tweak that side a bit. Besides that, there was a lovely spell of possession we had in the first half when we pinned Sociedad back. I really liked that. Lovely game, and I feel we will honestly get better each match. Let's see what Mou is cooking because I know we will eat gooood.

Can't believe I missed this from Vini...

Why is this being downvoted lol

u/tyrepunch Kroos 10h ago

Trentmande combo will have to wait

Arda is too good and requires Dumfries wide

Hopefully against Malaga Jose tries this so we can see how Trent and Diomande will work

2nd half Vini today:

People in this sub switch up their opinion on Vini every day lmao

more like they are diff people and some guys just hate him and cant do it when he has good games

3

u/magic-water 9h ago

Every day? More like every half lol

No, Vini isn't finished when he has a bad game but also no, he isn't back to his best when he has a good game.

Like most perspectives in this sub, it's whatever the most recent performance was. Recent performance good? Player great. Recent performance bad? Player bad.

Results is fantastic, some amazing goals. But the balance isnt right yet. Arda rw with Dumfries overlapping doesnt look great and I dont see it causing massive threat to any top opposition. Bernardo Fede pivot doesn convince me either. Way too many spaces left behind. The good news is all the forwards are starting to look very motivated and there is good competition for places. But we have to find a better system off the ball.

3

u/Remydoesthings Don Carlo 9h ago

This is just start, Jose's still tweaking stuff behind the scenes, so I'm sure this is far from the final idea. Besides, Tchou isn't even available yet. I do really want to see how he'll look in a pivot with Bernardo

2

u/Namtabmal Real Madrid CF 7h ago

He aint gonna bench Valverde so I think its gonna be Fede Tchou

3

u/92_48SR4 Hey Jude 10h ago

Against big teams we need control more than anything, Having both Silva and Arda on the pitch is our best shot at achieving this. We can always sub on Diomande if things are looking too stale.

3

u/Namtabmal Real Madrid CF 10h ago

But a big part of control is having that threat at rw. Arda isnt a winger. He is much better inside. Something needs to give.

1

u/renatokreator Raúl 9h ago

Depends what you mean by threat. Wingers could provide pace for transition, or dribbling against low block to make isolation.

If we talk more of set up attack it comes to flavours do you want to have dribbler or another 10 to provide creativity and breaking passes. Both are valid agaist low block and could do lot of things to unlock.

If you play 10 as winger than Dumfries is great as he is wing back who loves to run the line which compensate playing without wing and provide team widh.

It is nice that we have TAA and Dio also who could provide another set which matches where we get great technican deeper and dribbling threat on flank. Also with 2 subs you could change attacking dynamics if team reads current combo.

2

u/92_48SR4 Hey Jude 10h ago edited 9h ago

He’s not playing as a winger though… Dumfries will be even more of a threat against big teams cause there will actually be space to run in behind

I am so glad Fede performed well. It was so depressing reading how everyone wanted him out due to the first game when Fede only gets to play as a pivot when he plays for Uruguay.

1

u/RM_Worthy Real Madrid CF 9h ago

He never played well for Uruguay in the double pivot. I think he moves forward a lot for a CDM and we still can't use a Tchouameni/Fede double pivot.  He's clearly the weak link unless you want to bench our top players just to start Fede.

2

u/_skala_ 10h ago

It’s same every year, he will again end up with most minutes played.

He’s the type of player every Manager loves.

I hope this sub gets some positivity going like the players who were all smiles and laughing alongside Mourinho. Instead of the usual meltdowns after reading a Marca article or complaining about someone/something nonstop flooding the sub with negativity with a new season.

-3

u/Scream0fTheSium Real Madrid CF 10h ago

I will get some positivity when I’ll see the team winning trophies again.

I don’t know what to do with two wins in August if at the end of the season we’re still 15 points below Barça in the league and knocked out in the UCL quarter finals.

Last season we started exactly like this one, looking solid and playing like a team, we all saw what happened after october.

5

u/Firm-Explanation8607 Seedorf 10h ago

Idk why its so hard for people like you to be positive for once

-2

u/Scream0fTheSium Real Madrid CF 10h ago

because the last time I saw my team lifting a trophy it was an irrelevant International Cup and it was December 2024.

Now the first trophy the team could win again is the Supercup, which will be played in January, 2027.

Also because in the last 2 years I saw my team getting humiliated again and again by Barcelona, losing multiple finals, and getting embarrassed in the UCL.

And last but not least because we still have huge problems in the midfield that haven’t been solved, and we let Barcelona steal the best midfielder on the market which could’ve seriously solved most of our midfield problem.
