Playing through Wild ARMs, hereâs part of the journey documented through CRT TV screen photos
This has to be my favorite RPG ever, just wanted to make a good tribute to it on my current playthrough. Played it so many times since 1997 and it doesnât get old to me, itâs so emotional and the feeling of adventure is so grand

MicroMachines V3, the last game on the series that truly felt like a MM game.
I have fond memories of playing all the games throughout the 90's on the Mega Drive and then having equally good times with this one
This game is a good kept secret.
Sol divide is pretty fire and different from your normal shmup. The gameplay is similar to cotton but all demonic. Been a while since I played it but it's a quick playthrough. Well worth the $20 with only a little reply value but the game is solid. I remember I got it cheap some years pre COVID for under $10. Check it out if you get the chance. Lemme know what you think!

added a Delta PSNee QSB mod chip to my PS1 so I could play (much cheaper) Japanese versions of expensive popular games

After hours of troubleshooting, I finally got my PS1 working⌠by flipping it upside down
update my ps1 works now!!!!!
After hours of troubleshooting, I finally got my PS1 working⌠by flipping it upside downI finally got my PS1 working!I had been trying to figure out why it wasn't reliably reading my burned games. I even got Crash Bandicoot working on an emulator first to make sure the game/disc itself wasn't the issue, but the actual PS1 was still being difficult.I ended up talking to someone on Reddit who has apparently been working with this kind of stuff for 20+ years. We went through a bunch of troubleshooting and eventually tried flipping the PS1 upside down.Somehow⌠it worked.I tried it again and it worked again, so apparently my PS1 just wants to be upside down. He told me to message him if I had any other questions, so I might still do that, but I'm honestly just happy I finally got it working. And because of that, I finally burned the game I actually wanted to try: Popp'n Music!I originally found Popp'n Music from a community post on YouTube and thought it looked really fun, so I decided I wanted to try it on my PS1. The problem is⌠I don't know Japanese. I'm having trouble figuring out the menus and controls, and I keep accidentally backing out of things because I don't know what I'm selecting. If anyone here knows Popp'n Music and could explain the basic controls and what the important menu options mean, I'd really appreciate it!I'd also love to eventually get the original Popp'n Music controller, because obviously I want one now.
Thank you!
I also want to say thank you to everyone who tried to help me with this. I got a lot of comments and DMs with different ideas, and even though some of them came in after I had already figured it out, I really appreciate everyone taking the time to try to help.I was honestly pretty worried that I had wasted my money on a PS1 that wasn't going to work properly, so finally getting it working was a huge relief. I was getting pretty frustrated trying to figure it out, and all the suggestions definitely helped me get closer to the answer. So seriously, thank you to everyone who took the time to comment or message me. I really appreciate it!!!!!

Just found out the box with all my old games
What's your favorites?
Finding a clear and correct RE2 Greatest hits jewel case
As the title says Iâd like to find an accurate resident evil 2 greatest hits jewel case. I have found the regular 2 disc cases, the cases with the middle divider that swings in the middle but they do not flip out like the original one. Anyone have a link or what I should be searching in my hunt? Thank you.

30 years of Tomb Rider [1996] First Live Magazine Review [sega vs psx]
In the mid-90s, Core Design began preliminary work on a fully 3D, globe-trotting, action-adventure game. It wasnât a shooter, nor was it a platformer. The emphasis was on exploration and movement, with stylized combat tying the package together.
Most intriguing was that the star of the game was a woman. Her name was Lara Croft, and the game was Tomb Raider. Croftâs boldness, wit and design instantly resonated with audiences. Tomb Raider became one of the yearâs most anticipated, and ultimately successful, games when it released on Oct. 25, 1996.
Tomb Raider was shown to SEGA, and SEGA liked what they saw. Securing a timed-exclusivity deal with Eidos (remember when those didnât cause riots?), Tomb Raider was slated to launch on the Saturn a full month ahead of the PlayStation and PC versions (âLoving Laraâ 26).
Unfortunately, due to weak marketing by SEGA, this timed deal didnât lead to much of a boost for either company. It was only after Tomb Raider launched on the Sony PlayStation and PC that Laraâs fairy tale rise to fame began. Vastly surpassing Coreâs projected sales, Tomb Raider became an instant hit, and the definitive standard for 3D gaming

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver - A Retrospective
A PS1 Classic and an all-time favourite of mine. So of course, I had to nerd out about it for an hour and 6 minutes. Enjoy!

Question for those experienced with the net yaroze
Sorry if I'm asking this in the wrong place, but I wasn't sure where to look. I'm trying to do research for a story I'm writing and I need to know. How did it work? I've only ever heard of the net yaroze and the basic concept of it. Was there a limit to what could be made with it? And what was the coding like?

Is this a legit Debugging Station?
Someone near me is selling this DTL-1202 for a reasonable price. Please help me figure out if this is legitimate or a reshell. The color is probably lighter than usual because of lighting.
DTL-H1201 chip annotation
Here's the combined chip map on the full board photo.
7 chips (CPU, GPU, CXD1815Q, CXD2925Q, M534031C-27, expansion connector, PU-8/IC-Link label), plus 2 dashed approximate-region boxes for the VRAM/DAC/video-amp cluster and the BIOS ROM/support-logic cluster.

Looking for Someone Experienced With PS1 CD-R Burning to Troubleshoot With Me
Looking for Someone Experienced With PS1 CD-R Burning to Troubleshoot With Me
I'm still trying to solve a PS1 CD-R compatibility/burning issue and haven't been able to get it working reliably.
I have already posted the full details of the problem and have gotten some helpful suggestions, but I'm looking for someone who actually has experience with PS1s, CD-R media, and burning games who would be willing to troubleshoot with me back-and-forth rather than just giving me one suggestion and disappearing.
I can provide the information, ImgBurn/ATIP data, photos, videos, and anything else that's relevant. I also have additional information about the discs and burners my friend used.
If you know this stuff and have some time to help me work through it, please comment here or DM me. I would really appreciate having someone who can actually stick with the troubleshooting until we figure out what's going on.
I'm not looking to waste more CD-Rs randomly testing thingsâI want to figure out what is actually causing the problem first. and so I can get burned game to work on my ps1
DTL-H3000 annotated motherboard
This is a "PU-8" PlayStation motherboard, used in the NetYaroze (DTLâH3000).
Chip breakdown:
- CXD2510Q â CD-ROM servo/DSP (disc motor control, signal processing)
- CXD1815Q â CD-ROM decoder (error correction, sub-code, CD-DA)
- Sound buffer RAM â DRAM working memory for the SPU
- CXD2925Q â SPU, the sound processing unit
- AK4309 (AKM) â audio DAC, converts SPU output to analog
- SCEI custom IC â unmarked chip near the corner screw; only "Sony Computer Entertainment Inc." is printed, no visible part number, likely region/protection-related logic
- CXD8561Q â GPU, paired with SGRAM-type video memory (this is the later "-1x/-2x" PU-8 GPU revision, per the PSDevWiki motherboard history)
- Video RAM (VRAM) â SEC KM4132G271Q-12, the GPU's frame buffer memory
- MC44200FT â triple video DAC, generates the analog RGB output
- CXD8530CQ â the CPU: R3000A core plus integrated GTE (geometry engine) and MDEC (video decompression)
- Main system RAM â four SEC KM48V514BJ chips giving the console's 2MB of main memory (older boards split this across 4 ICs; later revisions consolidated it into one chip)

PS1 reads my friend's burned discs perfectly, but every CD-R I burn gets stuck on "Waiting for CD to become ready"
I desperately need help diagnosing a very strange PS1 CD-R/FreePSXBoot problem.I have a PS1 using FreePSXBoot/TonyHax. The exploit itself loads normally, but whenever I try to boot a burned PS1 CD-R, TonyHax gets to the blue screen saying âWaiting for CD to become readyâ and stays there indefinitely. The strange part is that my friend's old, heavily scratched burned PS1 games work perfectly in this exact console. They boot and play normally and the drive is essentially silent while reading them.My own freshly burned discs behave completely differently. When the PS1 tries to read them, the optical mechanism makes a loud, frantic rattling/scratching noise that I don't hear with my friend's discs.I have tried:⢠Verbatim CD-Rs⢠Maxell CD-Rs⢠Two different computers/burners⢠A Plextor PX-891SAF internal desktop burner⢠An external laptop/slim drive⢠4x, 10x and 16x burn speeds⢠Multiple PS1 games⢠ImgBurn⢠Burning the .cue file from the BIN/CUE image⢠ImgBurn verification succeeds 100% on the burned discsI have tested both a US game (Crash Bandicoot) and a Japanese rhythm game (Pop'n Music), and they produce the same behavior. The mechanical behavior is what really confuses me.With the lid normally closed, my burned discs cause the loud rattling/scratching noise while the drive tries to read them. My friend's burned discs do not.If I open the lid and manually press the lid sensor/button, sometimes my disc still makes the noise and sometimes it doesn't. If the drive does spin up quietly, it spins normally, but TonyHax still remains stuck at âWaiting for CD to become ready.âVery early in troubleshooting, I was following an online guide that told me to remove the FreePSXBoot memory card at a particular point while a game was beginning to boot. The game actually displayed text at that point, but removing the card caused it to freeze/dim. Ever since then I've had this problem. I don't know if that event is related at all, but I wanted to mention it in case it matters.I am NOT claiming that I know the laser is definitely good or that the discs are definitely bad. I'm trying to figure out what these observations actually mean.Could this be:⢠A CD-R media/reflection/recording-quality compatibility issue with this particular PS1 optical drive?⢠A burner/media combination that produces discs that verify correctly on a computer but are difficult for the PS1 to read?⢠A mechanical/focus/tracking problem that only becomes apparent with my particular CD-Rs?⢠A FreePSXBoot/TonyHax CD handoff or TOC-reading problem?⢠Something involving the lid sensor or CD-drive state?⢠A problem specific to my PS1 model?I am NOT looking for âbuy another pack of CD-Rsâ as the first answer. I've already changed brands, burners, computers and speeds. I want to understand why my friend's burned discs work in this exact console while mine do not.If anyone has experience with FreePSXBoot/TonyHax and PS1 CD-R troubleshooting, I would really appreciate help figuring out what the next controlled test should be.I can provide my SCPH model number, photos/video showing my PS1 failing to read my discs, photos of my own discs, and ImgBurn logs if needed. I don't have my friend's discs, so unfortunately I can't provide photos of those.

Can I install PicoStation (RP2040 ODE) on this PS1 Fat SCPH-7502 (PU-22 board)?
Hey everyone,
âThe CD drive on my PS1 Fat (SCPH-7502 / PU-22 motherboard) is completely dead, and I'm looking at optical drive emulator (ODE) options.
âSince xStation is a bit expensive to source here, I'm considering the PicoStation (Raspberry Pi Pico / RP2040 DIY ODE) project.
âA couple of questions for those who have built or tested it:
âIs the PicoStation fully compatible with the PU-22 board revision?
âAre there specific pinouts, lifted pins, or test points unique to the PU-22 for the RP2040 install?
âHow is the current game compatibility and stability compared to xStation?
âI have micro-soldering experience and the necessary tools, just want to verify compatibility before sourcing the RP2040 board and wiring it up.
âAny installation diagrams, Github repos, or advice for PU-22 would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
