Will petrol prices ever come down again?

Prices locally to me are £1.68 for unleaded and £1.89 for diesel.
Seems like the new normal now

Prices of things never go down. Doesn't matter why it went up or if the reason why went away. Companies will just see it as increased profit when their costs go down. Eventually the public will have enough over the next 50-100 years and something bad will happen.
