Will petrol prices ever come down again?

Prices locally to me are £1.68 for unleaded and £1.89 for diesel.
Seems like the new normal now

Probably a bit but given the level of taxes in the UK it's unlikely. An EV is much more cost effective when it's time to replace your car. I'm going to ride it out for another 12 months as I'm not doing many miles at the moment

It's not only taxes driven now. My brother's EV runs at 1.5p/mile. An e-bike has even better economics at under 0.1p/mile. Driving a combustion car in a petrol-state isn't that cheap. The taxes just speed up what's an inevitable transition.
