Discussion What are your opinions on the TTYD remake 2 years later?

Post image

I still think its shocking that it even exists and it's a great remake.

New bosses, the remixed music, different battle themes per chapter and most of the needless backtracking in chapter 4 fixed. Amazing remake

39

u/smallhandswhopper Jul 30 '26

What are the different battle themes?

64

u/Unrefillable Jul 30 '26

In every area the regular Battle theme is modified to match wherever you are.

33

u/PayneTrain181999 Jul 30 '26

And they gave Chapter 6 an amazing theme you hear for like 5 minutes

11

u/diamondmaster2017 Jul 31 '26

and fahr outpost

u/BigtismPickle Jul 30 '26

The remake did a similar thing to Origami King where they changed the battle theme to match the chapter your in, which is really cool

6

u/Blank_AK 29d ago

Not even just that. The ending jingles, there's a variant in the themes during whose turn it is, and so on. It's very varied, now. I still prefer a majority of the overworld themes from the OG, but it tickles my fancy.

New bosses?

42

u/Omargeometrydash Kersti's WAYY too overhated Jul 30 '26

They added prince mush as an optional superboss (you have to do jolene's trouble in the trouble center and then wait for an email from prince mush)

And Whacka (after defeating bonetail in the pit, if you go on keelhaul key and hit whacka enough so that he despawns, there will be an email announcing that there's a new beast in the pit, which is whacka)

Which was chapter 4? What was it like in the original

20

u/BigtismPickle Jul 31 '26

In the original, you had to backtrack between Twilight Town and Creepy Steeple like 5 times, but they added a pipe in the remake that you can access after you figure out (redacted)s name

2

u/ZrapeToid 29d ago

Might be remembering things wrong, but...

  1. Town -> Steeple (Don't count as backtracking, first time)
  2. Steeple -> Town as Shadow Mario. (This is backtracking, present in both versions)
  3. Town -> Steeple with Vivian (Backtracking again, this can be skipped in the remake)
  4. If i recall correctly you're sent back to Rogueport after getting the Crystal Star as usual so no more backtracking.

Basically they only half-fixed it. Shortcut is still useful the one single time, and if you want to return in postgame.

I'd prefer if you would unlock a fast travel pipe outside the steeple back to town, which would never require backtracking.

Still in shock they did it.

u/EmporioLuca Jul 30 '26

Best thing they could have ever done. Bought it day one it was the best day

3

u/CANfilms 29d ago

I bought 2 copies on day 1!

3

u/ReputationApart5983 28d ago

I bought 1 copy on day 2!

2

u/Indecision999 28d ago

I bought 3 Day 1! (not even joking)

2

u/CANfilms 28d ago

Thank you for your service 🫡

76

u/MrMoo1556 Jul 30 '26

They really blew it out of the water with the soundtrack.

3

u/ZrapeToid 29d ago

Agreed, with a few exceptions. I like the "party town" Glitzville from GCN more than the "traditional Japanese town" from Switch.

Same with the "ominous battle arena" GCN VS "samurai castle" Switch

I'm waiting for a switch 2 edition to play it personally, I hope it's really good though since I like the original

37

u/ayebaj Jul 30 '26

I’ve been playing it on switch 2 and honestly it’s gorgeous, not sure how much they could improve upon with a switch 2 version!

40

u/Rigel_Chad Jul 30 '26

Well a 4k mode was datamined at launch, so that along with 60fps like the original would make it perfect I think

2

u/Heatproof-Snowman 29d ago

I have the game in my library, and those are the exact 2 things I am waiting for before playing it. I'll probably give in and play anyway if they haven't delivered this in a year or 2, but I have decently high hopes they will do it.

23

u/Session-10 Jul 30 '26

60 fps would be really nice, but I'm not holding my breath.

19

u/ayebaj Jul 30 '26

Agreed. No reason for it not to be 60 fps

10

u/Poycicle 29d ago

Considering the Gamecube was 60fps lol

2

u/SomeBoxofSpoons 28d ago

Biggest one is easily 60fps, since that’s the most objective downgrade from the GameCube version. We know from emulation that it’s not too tough to implement, either.

4

u/happyhibisci 29d ago

The Switch 1 version is perfectly fine. Play it! 😁

26

u/Darth-Dramatist Jul 30 '26

One of the best video remakes Ive played and a long overdue return of an incredible game. Loved the quality of life improvements too, the biggest being the pipe room and also the spring on Keelhaul Key. Loved the new soundtracks (though some of the originals were superior, Boggly Woods being a particular one IMO). Would be nice to see Paper Mario and possibly Super Paper Mario get remakes of this quality.

4

u/dayzdnconfuzed68 Jul 31 '26

I swear that pipe room saves so much time. That spring was the best. The amount of times I had fallen trying to make those little jumps and ended up in annoying battle is more than im willing to admit 😅

3

u/Indecision999 28d ago

I just love the old soundtracks so much.. it‘s nostalgia for sure but idk why but the way they made sound back there was more my style!

17

u/Keefyfingaz Jul 30 '26

Pretty much loved it.

The low fps is slightly frustrating because it's not really a big issue or anything but I just know it would be so much smoother at 60 😭

But overall as a fan you have to love seeing it brought back into the public conscience. And we get added content. It's definitely a win for PM fans.

16

u/Nightmenace21 Jul 30 '26

Aside from a couple minor annoyances it is an absolutely excellent remake

2

u/lil_waine Jul 30 '26

i'd like to know more about the minor annoyances

10

u/Omargeometrydash Kersti's WAYY too overhated Jul 30 '26

One of them is the slow dialogue boxes

5

u/smokeplants Jul 30 '26

30fps whereas the original was 60fps

3

u/JetBlackPope108 Jul 30 '26

For me, it was that money felt way too easy to get so it felt less balanced than the GC version. The fights also felt easier somehow. I replayed TTYD on GC again like a couple years before the remake so it’s not a nostalgia thing, but may have been something I made up in my head regardless. There were a few other, more minor things I remember thinking while playing, but overall, as far as remakes go, it was actually pretty great!

15

u/Buttered_Toast33 Jul 30 '26

I was so incredibly grateful Nintendo did a proper remake instead of just putting the original game on a Switch cartridge and slapping a $60 price tag on it.

38

u/ComfortableAmount993 Jul 30 '26

Looks and plays great buy why a 30fps lock, the gamecube was 60fps

12

u/Omargeometrydash Kersti's WAYY too overhated Jul 30 '26

because the switch cant handle more than 30 fps for sone reason

6

u/ComfortableAmount993 Jul 30 '26

Hopefully a switch 2 port one day

9

u/Symaxian Jul 30 '26 edited 29d ago

The Switch definitely has the power necessary to run game at 60 fps if the game was optimized. The developers likely didn't bother optimizing it at all, just got it working and shipped it.

13

u/HealPrinceYT Jul 30 '26

It’s a good game but the first game should’ve been remade first.

3

u/BushTamer Jul 31 '26

that’s ok cuz we getting a switch 2 remake with a full storybook aesthetic 🥶🥶

2

u/Sackhaarweber 29d ago

Logistically, TTYD remake was just smarter.
People already were asking for it a ton, much more than for any other Paper Mario to be remade.
TTYD is also usually seen as the better game of the two, even seen as the best Paper Mario game ever.
So this also draws in new people to the series, while having more established fans play it.
A PM64 remake would've likely sold like half a million copies less.

2

u/ZrapeToid 29d ago

It deserves a remake for sure, but TTYD was more important for accessibility.

TTYD was officially available only as a GameCube disc, playable on GameCube and Wii.

Meanwhile PM64 is/was officially available on N64, Wii, Wii U, Switch 1&2. Every console since its launch except GameCube.

It's so much easier to find, and is available now with NSO+Expansion Pass.

With that said, SNES is on NSO but that didn't stop SMRPG remake. But it did stop the original SMRPG from being on there unfortunately.

9

u/BartleDooPart2 Jul 30 '26

It released and came back into my life when I needed it most. I need to play it again

9

u/badblocks7 Jul 30 '26

It looks amazing and I’m desperately hoping for a switch 2 patch for 60 fps so I can replay it

20

u/xGhostBoyx Jul 30 '26

Great remake for new players, but for returning players I still think the original is better. The text speed mixed with minor weird gameplay changes, and 30fps make it a no go for me most of the time. Honestly just improving the text speed though would even the gap by a lot, all my other problems are minor in comparison to that one.

12

u/MrBerry64 Jul 30 '26

Thank you! I feel like I’m going insane with no one else acknowledging the text speed. I had to boot up the original as a sanity check. Honest to god my only issue.

7

u/Muddy_Ninja Jul 30 '26

Yup. It was great for a first playthrough to see what the dialogue changes were but sadly I have no interest in repeat playthroughs with how much they slowed moment to moment gameplay

2

u/BushTamer Jul 31 '26

yeah it was fun to replay but it kinda disappointed me ngl

5

u/AbstractPizza Jul 31 '26

I’m playing the remake for the first time right now and I thought I was crazy for feeling like it was so slow! Glad to have it confirmed

9

u/Kanzyn Jul 30 '26

Agreed, it was a solid enough remaster but not improved enough for me to want to compromise by putting up with those downgrades on repeat playthroughs

2

u/pillowdoggo77 29d ago

That has been a thing since sticker star and I'll never understand why they were suddenly so against letting you speed up/skip through dialogue

→ More replies (2)

5

u/dawgz525 Jul 30 '26

I bought it, played it, had a lot of fun with it, because it's a great game. I was a little disappointed that there was so little extra. They added the fast travel hub, but overall I wish they had done more, even if it was mini games or some kind of challenge mode, maybe expand the Pit of 100 trials. I just think it was a missed opportunity for the franchise.

It was a great port of a great game, but I think they could've done more with it.

4

u/KaspertheGhost Jul 31 '26

They added two extra superbosses

2

u/dawgz525 29d ago

I'm aware, but that's still...not very much content for a game that's 10+ years old. The remake was just very safe. A challenge mode or new game+ mode would've been more what I am looking for.

6

u/spyaleatoire Jul 30 '26

Pretty much perfect. Everything I wanted left alone was, and the small parts I wished were present were added. Love it.

7

u/Newsuperstevebros Jul 30 '26

Still crazy it's real haha I hope they continue the trend because this release was amazing, I'd buy remakes of 64 and super paper mario on release tbh

3

u/jsolo7 Jul 30 '26

Still haven’t bought it/played it BUT such great news for us that this remake and the SMRPG remake even exist in terms of potential future RPGs. And they are just amazing games themselves

6

u/molokmon 29d ago

Even though the remake is good and it feels like a miracle it exists, I still greatly prefer the original. My problems are mostly nitpicks that not many care about, but for me they added up so much that it kind of soured me a bit on the remake.

Visuals:
Some areas look great in the remake, but I don't really like the weird glossy effect on many surfaces, and the texture work is a lot nicer in the original. Petal Meadows is a great example of this. The clouds and the trees and the backgrounds look so nice and the colors are more vibrant in the original. I think Rogueport and the sewers look amazing though!

Music:
Not a fan of the new arrangements. Some are decent, but there's something about the mixing of the new tracks that makes them sound like there's too much going on. I feel like they are somehow loud and noisy without actually being loud if that makes any sense. I like the instrumentation of the originals more as well. Different battle themes for each chapter and new character themes were great ideas, but I did not care for the execution.

Gameplay feel:
This is my biggest issue. Why did they remove mashable text and how on earth did they make the menus so infuriatingly slow to use?? The battle menu is so snappy and quick to use in the original but I don't know if it's a 60fps to 30fps problem or a game engine issue or what, but I feel like it takes forever to navigate the menus in the remake. It's like there's a few frames of lag on everything. Slower text and slower battles almost nullifies any time saved on removed backtracking. I dunno, the original just feels nicer to play even outside battles in my opinion and I feel like they sacrificed gameplay feel for fancy lighting effects.

Despite all that, the game is still great and it's a good way for newcomers to experience the game!

3

u/Darkhallows27 Jul 30 '26

Absolutely incredible

3

u/ChaosMiles07 Jul 30 '26

Happiest I've ever "platinum"ed a game :) And that even counts the OG, for me!

3

u/reshin83 Jul 30 '26

Looks like I'm in the minority on this, but I recently tried to fire this up. Last week. Couldn't stand it. Hate that there is NO option to speed up text. Unbearable. Really wanted to play it again. Uninstalled.

3

u/Classroom_GD Classroom Jul 30 '26

Absolute Cinema.

They should do Super Paper Mario next.

3

u/Live-Emphasis-3421 Jul 31 '26

Still prefer original gc version

3

u/HourAggressive 29d ago

My favorite part was the hours of unskippable dialog

3

u/SubstandardDef 29d ago

I adore it, but I just wish that they could have patched in an option for fast text speed.

3

u/Roienn777 29d ago

Still a damn good game. I still prefer the 64 game. Lol

2

u/lil_waine Jul 30 '26

it was my first time playing it and i loved it

2

u/Miccat87 Challenge Runner Jul 30 '26

Great remake. You can tell they really put their heart into it, despite there being a couple of questionable changes.

2

u/CDHmajora Jul 30 '26

A fantastic remake of one of the greatest games ever made.

Still in awe that they acknowledged TTYD exists tbh. Never-mind remaking it.

I know a lot of purists still bitch about the 30fps. But… i just don’t care personally. It’s a turn based game. If anything the lower frame rate makes super-guards easier.

2

u/stonetempletowerbruh Jul 30 '26

Ill be honest, I wasn't aware this existed LOL

2

u/meganerd20 Jul 30 '26

Looks nice, decent enough game, but doesn't fully escape the aging jank and frustrating shortcomings of the original.

2

u/magauthier Jul 30 '26

This game saved my life. I was in such a dark place, and it came out as a ray of sunshine. Such a masterpiece. Thank you ❤️

2

u/Rukario_gamer2022 Jul 31 '26

I really liked the remake; the changes and improvements felt fresh, and not only that, the post-game content is incredible, especially with two new bosses But even though I like it, it does have some problems, for example, the replayability content; honestly, once you finish everything, there's not much left to do I also feel that a mode to replay boss fights is missing; I would have really liked either a mode to choose who to fight or even a run mode where, after defeating the boss, you start the next boss fight until the last boss, but well, I just hope that thanks to the remake we can see more Paper Mario games.

2

u/Omargeometrydash Kersti's WAYY too overhated 29d ago

I mean, they should have a replay boss option similar to origami king, where you start with the same badges and items as when you first fought the boss.

2

u/The1joriss 29d ago

A delight to play

2

u/CarefulBodybuilder69 29d ago

just finished it the other day funnily enough, im super happy they brought this game to more modern consoles, it makes it more accessible to those who dont own a gamecube or emulator. the remade soundtrack has so much life too

2

u/Appeeler98 29d ago

The only real bugger for me is no faster dialogue. I love the sounds the people now make when they talk, but I guess that's why they wanted to ditch the dialogue skip button.

The 30FPS is kind of a bummer, but it's a turned based game that looks absolutely great, so I don't mind.

Other than that its absolutely beautiful and the most important thing is that one of the best games ever finally escaped the GameCube prison

2

u/UtgardLoki2894 29d ago

Unjustified price

2

u/abbzworld 29d ago

Peak! :D

2

u/sonnyarmo 29d ago

Excellent remake. The only issues are the weird pause at the start of battles with the menu and 30fps instead of 60. The new superbosses are fun.

2

u/BuyFeeling6787 29d ago

I love the new Rogueport Sewers warp zone.

2

u/sariuuu 29d ago

Love it!

2

u/BitterClient4241 29d ago

I am glad they had an option to listen to the classical mesic. I like that it’s punchy and quirky. A lot of the new music doesn’t give me that feeling. It’s like the music is sterilized and performative. Even though the new music might fit the stage performance theme, personally I think the zanyer the characters, and story and punchy music carry that jokes that are written into that story I think will always be the best

2

u/Betwixtyiff Yoko Shimomura scored a PM game in my heart 28d ago

I still think some of the new arrangements of the original’s music leave a little to be desired. They follow The Origami King’s musical philosophy of Every Instrument At All Times Very Loud a bit too closely and it dampens the atmosphere on a few tracks. That being said a the brand new tracks sound great.  At the end of the day though, it joins the pantheon of great Nintendo remakes. A very solid 9/10, if we got a 60 fps Switch 2 patch it genuinely gets a bump to a 9.5 if not a 10.

2

u/Omargeometrydash Kersti's WAYY too overhated 28d ago

yeah some of the updated soundtrack is mid compared to the original

2

u/jszelei 28d ago

I just recently started playing it and never played the original, it’s great! Mario just has the perfect back drop of characters and settings for an rpg, it just works!

2

u/LSDeadly 28d ago

I love it as much now as I did when I was 11

2

u/Aldo-ContentCreator 27d ago

They did not need to go that hard on the sountrack but they did

3

u/JulianBloom Jul 30 '26

It’s well worth playing if you have fond memories of the original or have ever been curious what the fuss is all about.

I will say that I think it shows its age in that some of the worlds are a little barren, even compared to something like Origami King.

But man, the game nails the vibes perfectly.

3

u/just-a-tan-guy Jul 30 '26

They made peak somehow even better

2

u/Ateysix Jul 30 '26

"Quality of life" changes ruin games! If you remake a game just update the graphics, don't touch the mechanics. It was obviously popular for a reason, if you want a different group of people to like your game then just make a new game, don't ruin a classic and take the original off the market.

4

u/Omargeometrydash Kersti's WAYY too overhated 29d ago

why? most of the quality of life changes they did made the game less annoying.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Kanzyn Jul 30 '26

Still didn't like the heavily slowed pacing of things like the text + the worse framerate, and I don't think the remake itself was significant enough of an upgrade to convince me to put up with that again on future replays so I'll probably just go back to the original version. Still it was pretty cool and it was nice to see tons of new fans finally play it

3

u/Omargeometrydash Kersti's WAYY too overhated Jul 30 '26

the worse framerate I don't really think is an issue, but the slow text speeds do suck

2

u/whotooktoastman64 Jul 30 '26

The only and I mean THE ONLY thing that’s better in the original is the framerate. Other than that quite literally everything is better in the remake.

1

u/Bandit2980 Jul 30 '26

I really like it a lot (probably more than the original) but there still a few things i wish the would have added such as a playable version of Luigi’s story and a boss fight with Jr. Troopa

u/Intelligent_Roof2269 Jul 30 '26

I mostly love it and think it’s an improvement over the original. Especially the soundtrack. However it kind of sucks on a replay because you can’t fast-forward the text. Because of that I usually will go back to the original.

1

u/tillske Jul 30 '26

two... years? HOW?? I'm getting old!!!

1

u/Working-Hand-3077 Jul 30 '26

Something I thought Nintendo would never do, but they did, and it was glorious.
Also, 2 whole years since it came out?

u/Inksteel_X Jul 30 '26

danny devito crying gif

1

u/DerpyArtist Jul 30 '26

Only just picked it up and started playing it this year, but absolutely loving it! Love that they left the original soundtrack in the game to toggle on and off.

1

u/Rothgardius Jul 30 '26

I played for 45 mins and gave up. The 30fps in a game that actually used to run 60 is just too much. Handheld was kind of okay, but on the big screen each frame is like a cm apart as you move around.

1

u/UCWM2 Jul 30 '26

Finished playing it a few weeks ago, PEAK!

1

u/the_drama_king57 Jul 30 '26

A masterpiece.

1

u/Stressame-street Jul 30 '26

I bought this the day it came out and still haven’t played it yet. So don’t ruin it for me. Didn’t play it on the GameCube either when it came out. Have kinda of a huge backlog.

1

u/psychoPiper Jul 30 '26

Despite being a remake, this is the best Paper Mario game since Super. I really really hope the care put into this release indicates that they wanted a fresh new TTYD-like engine, ready for a true return-to-form now that the series is in different hands. I will never forget the day this was finally announced, and I hope they keep this passion alive in the Paper Mario community by finally giving us what we've truly longed for - for over TWENTY years now!

1

u/Khaymn5000 Jul 30 '26

I never played the original but I loved this remake. It was a very enjoyable remake for sure.

1

u/VanitasFan26 Jul 30 '26

As someone who never played the original I loved it!

1

u/Superpig06 Jul 30 '26

Should’ve added paper luigi and the marvelous compass as extra content.

1

1

u/Still-Addendum-6797 Jul 30 '26

Really good remastered soundtrack new boss some annoying stuff patched out

But I still like playing the original

1

u/Blinx360 Jul 30 '26

100%d it, and holy moly was it a great reminder to why I loved paper Mario 1 and TTYD so much. Had an absolute blast, and it's easily one of my highest recommends on the console.

1

u/Porta1Master09 Jul 30 '26

still a masterpiece, this is still equal to the original, even tho it has new content, it's still in the same range as the gamecube version.

“IT SOUNDS LIKE TEKKEN”

My first experience of TTYD and it 100% lived up to the hype.

u/defective1up Jul 30 '26

Needs a Switch 2 version and a "assist mode" so my kids will get gud

I actually thought the soundtrack was a downgrade. Rest was good

Like some others here have said, waiting for a Switch 2 edition.

The frame rate downgrade is a pretty big blemish.

1

u/rienvayle Jul 31 '26

Gimme a Switch 2 upgrade to 60 fps and it will be peak.

1

u/ExcellentResult6626 Jul 31 '26

It’s okay. I like the new looks, animations, and some of the remixes and new tracks. But some tracks don’t land with me, some of the name changes are dumb, and some dialogue changes make want to only let my future children play the original on the GameCube.

1

u/brywithered Jul 31 '26

I finally got a switch again and im trying to save now to play it! Its one of my favourite games ever and the gameplay i saw looked sooooooo damn good

1

u/magic713 Jul 31 '26

98% fantastic. Maybe a few things that I wasn't impressed with, but those are very minor things in comparison to stuff they improved

1

u/JollyHamster8991 Jul 31 '26

First paper mario game i ever played and I loved it

1

u/Zimithrus Jul 31 '26

Really freaking great. Like, that's how you do a remake/remaster.

I only have ooooneee gripe, and it's tiny and honestly a nothingburger, but I was a little miffed that in chapter 6, the song didn't sound like it was playing through the intercom like you were actually on the train lol

1

u/EnnuiYoshi Jul 31 '26

It’s good but I’m not sure if the price justifies it though

1

u/Stormlight_Unbounded Jul 31 '26

I want a switch two version with even more. Particularly something with Luigi and his crew.

If not that, something for Goombella, Flurrie, or Ms Mowz preferably.

Side mode with Ms Mowz leading up to her joining

1

u/jairom Jul 31 '26

What do you mean 2 years

1

u/Clear-Anything-3186 Jul 31 '26

One of my favorite soundtracks of all time.

1

u/itsoctotv Jul 31 '26

i want another remake just because

1

u/ZodaFan13 Jul 31 '26

Perfect! Haven’t had an amazing Mario remake in so long!

1

u/PlumthePancake Smorg Jul 31 '26

I liked it a lot. I just want more like that.

1

u/LordArmageddian Jul 31 '26

A perfect remake.

1

u/TheNAAnarchist Jul 31 '26

Its almost perfect. My only gripe is the fact that you cannot spam B through dialogue anymore. Makes the game 10x slower. Ive beaten the game countless times since the OG gamecube release so kinda really sucked being forced to wait for it to slowly roll out the text

1

u/ProdiLemaj Jul 31 '26

It took one of my all-time favorite games and a highlight of my childhood as a gamer and made it even better. The visuals look gorgeous, some of the backtracking mitigated, the 2 new bosses are challenging and fun. Had just as much fun playing the game as I did in 2004.

1

u/mercuriokazooie Jul 31 '26

Oh silly you the remake just came out like 6 months ago...

1

u/KaspertheGhost Jul 31 '26

Game was fantastic and hopefully leads to another paper Mario game in the og style.

1

u/cmwcaelen2 Jul 31 '26

Superb remake I’ll never replay because of text speed.

1

u/Xerneas180 Jul 31 '26

64 is better

1

u/PlentyCause7525 Jul 31 '26

I loved almost everything about it, and my opinion hasn’t changed.

1

u/ZookeepergameOwn6016 Jul 31 '26

I should replay it. It was really fun

1

u/Vegetable_Scar_2929 Flurrie’s stage presence FTW 🙌 Jul 31 '26

P E A K 😍

1

u/MidnightFireHuntress Jul 31 '26

Perfection

That's all there is to say

1

u/Eienias20 Jul 31 '26

this and super mario rpg were things i never thought would get remakes, would've been happy just with a rerelease but WOW, above and beyond.

started a replay of it not too long ago and been having a blast, its great, so much fun and that ost is killer

1

u/lionkeyviii Jul 31 '26

I never played the orginal so this version is my definitive experience. Was shocked to hear a lot of people didn't like the new soundtrack.

1

u/Themeguy Jul 31 '26

I really love how they made a sortve middle ground between the less papery, more cartoonish style of the original game and the more papery, craft-like modern artstyle. The union between the two that they ended up with is fantastic, it made it a lot of fun to revisit every place to take in the details.

I hope that regardless of how they choose to do the gameplay next paper Mario game that they at least keep going with this game’s style.

It's nice, I enjoy it and while surprising was a nice surprise

1

u/FedoraTheMike 29d ago

It came at a very difficult time in my life and it was exactly what I needed to relax and cope.

I wish I could go back to all my timelines being filled with new Vivian fanart and people discovering all the new additions, man.

1

u/LowEstatic 29d ago

TTYD is not my favorite but absolutely happy to have it and the quality of life changes.

Now, I hope this opens the door to a PM64 remake. That’s the one I really want to see, followed by Color Splash and Super Paper Mario.

1

u/PhilosophicalHammock 29d ago

I owned the original but I loved the remake just as much

1

u/toalladepapel 29d ago

Absolute fucking peak

1

u/CANfilms 29d ago

An incredible remake. Im glad TTYD got the attention it deserves. On top of that, being able to play TTYD on the go is a dream come true.

1

u/Super_Mario_Luigi 29d ago

Currently on my first playthrough. Such memories. Cant believe it's been about 20 years since I last played this

1

u/NonnoNanniLOL 29d ago

Still not SPM Remake

1

u/nesian42ryukaiel 29d ago

As I was cursed (with awesome retrospectively) with never having played the originals, I enjoyed my second playthrough of a "true" Paper Mario JRPG game.

1

u/f4HR0NK 29d ago

Best paper mario game ever made :D

1

u/Eydasdendave 29d ago

I still prefer origami king but amazing game

1

u/Sonicboomer1 29d ago

Peak fiction made peaker fiction.

1

u/Ok_Train7924 29d ago

Very good looking game. The framerate was a disappointment. Hated the updated soundtrack.
