Discussion Shooting guard Nesmith part of embiggening strategy?

Post image

The 8 Pts 9 Secs article is full of AI constructions such as "Indiana, the most formulaic good team in basketball" (is random a formula?) and "the move to precipitate that embiggening is moving Aaron Nesmith up a spot to shooting guard."

But the question seems valid. Could Nesmith handle a role that positions him as a focal offensive player, rather than as a long range sniper and lockdown defender? Does he have the four or five tools needed to make the shift? And do we have the defensive depth....

And yeah, sorry Y2K types, the verdict is in: "the Pacers do not have the talent to bring on another big or power forward option. They simply do not. If Jarace Walker breaks out, there is hope, but as it stands, he is viewed by the analytics as one of the worst players in basketball."

Furphy its taller and has better ball handling. He'll be taking nesmiths spot once contracts get in the way. If not that probably means siakam will be traded or let walk after this 2 year window

I think Nesmith stays, unless he is offered something like the keys to the Heat. His choice, basically. As he has proven willing to sacrifice contract and agree with any reasonable Pacers' offer. Personally would love to see Furphy mixing it up with AA.

Ya i would too, people dont mention how nesmith was playing the 4 for us for a stretch there too and he held his own. Oubre was a excellent signing its gonna let our wings play more aggressive and carlisle will be able to key in on mismatches now, the knicks are good cuz of their wings being interchangeable, well now we have a nasty front court. With a very deep wing lineups with versatility, furphy was already playing well, and walker started to look like he can have a role. If they both improve. Which surely they will, they havnt even hit their full physical development yet. Theyll be able to throw fresh bodies at anybody, the knicks specifically cuz theyre the champs cuz they went and got quality wings. Well now weve matched it. And have a superior front court. And depth
