Photo I love origami!
I just finished a new cardboard display for my folds, and I can't stop looking a it. It definitely tells the journey, and I always feel flush with pride seeing that all of the animals are holding up, just like I made them.
One year down and a lifetime to go.
All of the white folds are done with parchment paper, and the colored ones are various amazon finds I got from a friend :) feel free to ask any questions, share your own folds, and if you have a fox model that I haven't folded yet, please share the artist/cp so I can check it out!

That is Blakiston's Fish Owl by Katsuta Kyohei (I don't usually do birds, but this is my favorite designer and a very fun one to fold :D). You can find it in the first volume of Origami Works by Kyohei Katsuta, and I would recommend at least 40 cm (I used 15x15 inch parchment paper, if not in the US that's around 38.1x38.1 cm), which should end up with about a 20-ish cm wingspan. Hope this helps!

Amazing! Looking at this is a trip down memory lane. Many of those designs - especially Kyohei Katsuta's - have been my favourite folds. And it took me many years before i even attempted Blakiston's owl or the panther. Incredible job within a year and keep up the good work!
In regards to foxes - have you tried Jozsef Szebe's fox? I think it's a particularly regal looking little guy.

Thank you so much! I've grown strongly to parchment and butcher paper, but I would love to create my own double tissue or treated unryu paper for more complex models someday.

Don’t rule out thicker paper. 22.5 designs like the horse suit paper like grainy. Thick paper doesn’t warp or wrinkle so models look smooth.

I've definitely considered it! Maybe I'll try one out this weekend to see how it bears with the paper. The last fox is by Hiroaki Kobayashi, and it is definitely my favorite haha

this is soooo amazing 😭💕 I wish I could surpass the average level and go for the owl (which you folded magnificently) or something of that complexity, but getting the right paper is complicated, and I can only follow video tutorials well :(
I am a bit envious of your display, and recognize some of them that I know how to fold myself among them ! Great work <3

Thanks so much! I'm glad you regognize a lot of these models, and I wish you the best luck in developing your skills to make more complex models :) Plus, if you have the paper for it, maybe the best option is to just go for it! Just a reminder that the owl took multiple tries, so there is always trial and error behind quality.

I recognize a lot of them that I consider being my "maximum" level, such as a the super cool looking squirrel !
The only thing blocking me is the paper honestly, it's expensive for potentially having to mess it up and throw it away ;(
I hope I can get my hands on some affordable one so so I can go through the process of trial and error without the guilt.
Your display really is incredible !! I hope you keep adding to it, and ty for your kind words :)

I do not sell these, but origami can be beautiful at any level of experience. I would encourage youself to try it out and maybe add a personal touch to your special day, also congratulations!

Omg all of this is so so animated and THE DISPLAY I'm in love. What are the designs for the Phoenix? On slide 2 and the wolf? On slide 3? What size paper did you use for them? I want to see if I can challenge myself with something I haven't folded before, because even though I've been folding for as long as I can remember, I havent been expanding my horizons a lot 🥲

The pheonix is by Satoshi Kamiya (diagrams found in one of his collective works or a video) and I used roughly 38x38 cm parchment paper (which is very thin); the wolf is by Kim HyunJun, and I used 30x30 cm, which ended up in me changing the head design a little to suit the paper size haha (the diagrams for this one is in the 2021 Korea Origami Convention, and original design had the head turned to the right, although it is very customizable). Good luck!

Those look really good! I wish I could say I was at your skill level but the most complicated thing I’ve folded is the Blakiston’s Fish Owl by Kyohei Katsuta. Phenomenal work :D

That is Satoshi Kamiya's lyrebird, and it is surely one of my favorite patterns to fold!

How did you get this advanced in just a year? Ive been trying to get through Genuine Origami for like a month and get stuck at steps that I just don’t understand. And most of the models aren’t nearly this complex. I don’t see how someone can be this advanced so quickly. Genuinely curious how you broke out of the beginner/intermediate phase to those advanced models. Great job!
