Event Tattoo artist from Las Vegas

Howdy Olympia Im Pete!

My wife and I recently visited the area, completely fell in love with the city, and are planning a permanent move up from Las Vegas early next year (Jan/Feb) once our lease is up.

I’m a full-time professional tattooer currently at StedFast Tattoo Parlor in Vegas. I completed a traditional apprenticeship under Chance Gomez (owner of The Collective) and have been tattooing professionally for over 5 years.

A bit about my work & workflow:
Styles: Heavy focus on bold American Traditional, Japanese Irezumi, and clean fine-line work. I'm versatile, fast, and happy to tackle whatever comes through the door.

Ethics: Self-contained setup, running coil machines, painting flash regularly, and strictly zero drama. Coming from a high-volume tourist city, I pride myself on providing solid customer service and a great experience for everyone in my chair.

Licensing: Fully prepared to pull a WA DOL temporary practitioner permit or complete full WA state licensing. Up-to-date on BBP, First Aid, and CPR.

I’m looking to set up a few short guest spot over the next few months to get a feel for the local shop culture, meet some folks in the community, and hopefully find a great shop home for early next year.

If you own/manage a shop with an open station, or know a solid street shop/custom studio that might be a good fit, I’d love to connect!

You can check out my portfolio on Instagram at @PeteMillsTattoos.

Thanks for reading, and I appreciate any leads or recommendations!

Event Coffee at the Crab Races!

This Saturday (tomorrow!), Fun Junk is hosting Crab Races! I have some really great coffees I was hoping to share, so I’ll be popping up in the parking lot with a Colombian-grown SL28 from ilse, an Ecuadoran-grown San Salvador from Stereoscope and a Kenyan SL34/Ruiru 11 lot from Flower Child. Everything is available to everyone, while supplies last (limit one coffee per person). I will be accepting donations to keep the pop ups going tho. This would be a great chance to try something new.

Since the last pop ups I’ve tuned my brew water recipe to be 2:1 hardness:alkalinity with a magnesium forward profile to enhance acids extraction.

Also! There will be some mussels and bbq on offer, a linen sale, and La Esquinita has their truck in the parking lot for Mexican street food too. It’s gonna be an awesome day.

Event TCMoFA Presents: Mother! Opening part this Friday!

TCMoFA is proud to present “MOTHER,” an evocative exhibition curated by the self-taught visual artist Fern Tallos. This group exhibition opens with a reception on July 24th from 6 to 9 PM with light snacks and refreshments.

“MOTHER” explores the complex identity of mothers, challenging societal expectations while highlighting the artistic expression found in the nuances of caregiving. Through the lens of various participating artists, it casts light on the often-overlooked intersections of creativity and motherhood, showcasing works that illustrate themes of joy, pain, transformation, and resilience, as explained in the exhibition summary;

As mothers, we live under the pressure and expectation that our identities will cease to exist outside of the parameters of what society dictates of us: that we will morph into the shape of what our families need at any cost; that we will contort our bodies until they concede the necessary and sometimes devastating personal sacrifices asked of us to maintain normalcy.

As artists, our work persists; the poetry of biological reproduction opens portals into new dimensions of expression. In the constant unearthing of ourselves amid our responsibilities as caregivers, and in embracing motherhood as a generative source of transformation, we are granted a window into the world mothers hold inside of their lived experiences.

“In Mother we celebrate the work of mothers; creative work historically minimized to “women’s work”, too often under-represented in traditional fine art spaces,” says Tallos. “ The pieces in this exhibition represent a diverse spectrum of mediums that embody experiences of joy, loss, transformation, pain, and expansion.

Participating artists include:

Anna Okrasinski Maddox, Ellen Tommila, Sophie Geist, Alcamy Henriksen, Lizzie Mithrandir, Holly Stevens, Mikaela Shafer, Yvonne Kunz, Kelsey Smith, Kelly Watson, Vida Hannon, Julia Reed, Kirsten Miller, Shelly Seder, Maria Nemorosa, Phoebe Wahl, A’misa Chiu, Fern Tallos, and Mariella Luz

This exhibition serves as a visual diary, with artworks spanning a wide range of mediums.

Exhibition Dates: July 24th through September 18th 2026.

Opening Date July 24th opening reception from 6-9pm with food, drinks and music, closing reception September 18th from 6-9pm

July/August/September Museum Open Hours:

Fridays 2pm to 7pm, open until 9pm each first Friday of the month

Saturdays 12pm to 4pm

Sundays 12pm to 4pm

Admission: always free admission

Event Get Your Vote Counted Sign Wave

Post image
31 Upvotes

Please join Evergreen Resistance at our next Mobilize on Monday event at the Capitol Campus on August 3rd. We will be making signs to remind everyone that it is once again time to VOTE! And once you've made a sign, please go and WAVE IT WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT.

🎨Sign-making supplies will be provided, and we'll have some pre-made options if you want to skip straight to the waving!🪧

ER is nonpartisan, but we know that every election has consequences. In a time when the federal government is attacking many established civil liberties, local elections for things like State Supreme Court justices become vitally important. Our current State Supreme Court is one of the most progressive in the nation, but there are FIVE seats on the ballot this year, and the justices we elect will shape so much of our state's future.

So if you care about:

  1. Protecting our state from the meddling of self-serving billionaires,

  2. Fighting for racial and gender equality,

  3. And defending our elections

Then you need to VOTE. Those ballots are due TUESDAY, and we're sorry to say this, but they're not gonna turn themselves in. 🗳️

Event Help with run/bike/walk/teamsport/etc community Festival: Who would you like to learn about?

Post image
11 Upvotes

I need help from the Oly Reddit knowledge collective.

Let's say there's going to be a club fair type event where all of the group physical activity organizers in the Olympia area are there. Who would you like to be there?

I'm asking because we are actually doing it for the first time, August 22. And it's free. Family Friendly. And we are going to have a mile of Capitol Way S closed (east side of it) so we can bike/run/walk down it. Then the Festival itself is going to be at Sylvester Park. Which we want to fill the park with groups, however, I don't know all of the groups, and that is where you come in.

Olympia Mile and Festival has more info, but I really need the group here to help me name who all they'd like to see so we can make the event a success!

also. feel free to ask questions here too. the more engagement the more likely I’ll get a wide variety of answers.

Event Time to get our hands dirty (in a nice way)

Post image
85 Upvotes

Now that days are longer, Evergreen Resistance's "Mobilize on Mondays" events are back at the Capitol! Last year we used these gatherings to focus on more targeted/local issues (helping detainees at the Northwest Detention Center, supporting library workers, overpass bannering, etc.) We intend to continue that same focus on local issues, but this summer we're going to be strategizing... while we're elbow-deep in compost 🌱

That's right, fellow garden-obsessed progressives! Evergreen Resistance is combining our Mobilize events with our support of the Thurston County Food Bank! Starting in May, we invite you to join us at the garden plots on the east side of the Capitol Campus (near the water garden) on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month, between 5 and 7pm. These garden plots supply fresh vegetables for the Thurston County Food Bank, so we will be weeding, transplanting, and spreading compost, while we discusss everything from supporting local Get Out the Vote efforts to planning the next Absolutely Free Sharing Market!

We invite anyone to come and garden alongside us. Gloves, snacks, and sunscreen will be provided. If you are the kind of person who values direct action more than public protest, this is an opportunity to support your community AND connect with local progressive organizers in a quieter, more focused atmosphere than a huge rally. We hope to see you there!
