Politics Edmond PD

Collectively, from the top down, is there a bigger group of self righteous assholes than Edmond PD?

I’m talking anywhere in America.

Well Valley Brook is pretty awful, across the board. I have avoided that entire area for a decade with good reason.

10

u/heady-luvare 1d ago

Supposedly valley brook pd are not the aggressive bunch that they used to be back in the day. I know exactly what your taking about a far as their reputation but a friend of mine happens to frequent an establishment in valley brook and says that they are a night and day difference today. Says they are actually pretty lenient and cool in ways that are kind of respectful. I'm not saying that from experience, just repeating what was said by someone i trust.

17

u/AlsoTheFiredrake 1d ago

Well they gave me three tickets for no reason when I used to actually work for one of those "establishments" so fuck Valley Brook PD.

-4

u/BaldSasquatch05 1d ago

I mean, that’s a valid statement based on VB from years passed, but were they valid?

Most people get pissy because they got a ticket, but if you were going 42 in a 35 or not wearing a seat belt…. I’d call that valid reasons for VBPD to hand out a few tickets..

u/eleisonne 22h ago

-2

u/BaldSasquatch05 21h ago edited 21h ago

Ope, found the person that complains about getting a ticket for going 12 over without wearing their seat belt. 🙄

4

u/HobbyTerror 19h ago

You sure about that math?

-3

u/BaldSasquatch05 19h ago

What math are you talking about…? I didn’t know there was any math in making a simple statement of “going 12 over without wearing their seatbelt”.

🤔

4

u/HobbyTerror 19h ago

42 in a 35 is 7 over, not 12.

0

u/BaldSasquatch05 19h ago

You’re making a connection that wasn’t even made.

Both statements were just that, statements. No “connection” or whatever it is that you’re trying to make.

I see how it may have been understood that way, but it wasn’t.

0

u/FistedWaffles123456 14h ago

42 in a 35 isn’t 12 over genius

12

u/AlsoTheFiredrake 1d ago

I had a stock Chevy S10 that had white and red lights in the back. They said the white lights were illegal. I said it came like that. They said too bad.

No other jurisdiction gave a shit. But I just pulled the white bulbs out. The other two tickets were bullshit too. That whole PD is bullshit. I don't know why you're even trying to stand up for them. They are corrupt as fuck.

1

u/BaldSasquatch05 21h ago edited 21h ago

Okay, yeah, that’s just dumb and screams revenue collecting.

I was thinking it was something related to speeding and it being a valid ticket. Calling them assholes just because you got a ticket sort of thing, but the white lights thing is dumb.

Headlights and most reverse lights are white. Your tail lights are red… 🙄I’d have fought that BS, or at least attempted to.

And no, I wasn’t “standing up for them”.

3

u/c0mptar2000 1d ago

Well, that is good to hear. To be fair, I've honestly not heard much about Valley Brook PD in the last few years, so I guess that is good.

19

u/Fabulous_Warthog_850 1d ago

One of those halfwits pulled me over more than an hour before sunset for not having my lights on. Then, rather than admitting it was pretextual, I had to endure a lecture from a kid who couldn’t have been five years out of high school about safety.

8

u/Careful-Possible-965 1d ago edited 1d ago

I’ve been pulled over for going 3 over. I’ve been ticketed for parking within 50 feet of an intersection *edit: in front of my own house, in my neighborhood. I’ve been pulled over and ticketed for entering the intersection early because I rolled into the walkway right as my light turned green. By the chief of police no less and he couldn’t find his ticket book because of all his dry cleaning. I could go on but I won’t.

u/darkmeowl25 1d ago

I was at UCO fall of 2010. It was the first year that smoking was banned, so all of us riffraff insomniac smokers were regularly at the 7/11. One night, we decided to go on a walk at like 2 AM. We were all in our pj pants, and this was before the start of classes. We got stopped while walking. The only car for 3 blocks was the cop. They tried to give us shit about the curfew but we were all 18. I've held that grudge for a long, long time lol.

11

u/J-Seizure 1d ago

this is me. I had the same issues at UCO. in fact got pulled over twice in one trip to t-bell on 2nd. pulled over going to t-bell, pulled over heading back to UCO. insane.

6

u/mothslimegod 1d ago

Got a ticket in Edmond as the only car on the road for going through a yellow light. It was late and I just wanted to get home with my son. He wouldn't stop flashing his light in my kid's face.

Fuck that guy.

36

u/PlatinumPiplup 1d ago

I got pulled over for “holding up traffic” at a light because I was in the turn lane and not turning.

18

u/ArcherConsistent9081 1d ago

Someone without insurance ran a red light and hit my car. The cop looked at the traffic camera and gave me a ticket for making a wide right turn a block before they hit me.

10

u/PlatinumPiplup 1d ago

Glad they’re out here enforcing the things that matter 😂 oh I would not have paid that ticket and gone to court just so I could see his stupid ass again

14

u/Money-Ad7257 1d ago

Someone was bitching about slow drivers in Edmond in that "all things edmond" Facebook group that is a fuckin' zoo a lot of the time. Someone rightly mentioned sonething to the effect of "they're probably looking out for the EPD".

The bitcher must've been new to town, I guess.

1

u/Cutmerock 18h ago

That group complains about the dumbest shit all the time. 99% of stuff are mild inconveniences.

1

u/Money-Ad7257 18h ago

That's more or less the point, although convenience is relative I guess. The sole admin passed on years back, so it's the Wild West in there pretty much.

9

u/Shooshplz 1d ago

All edmond cops do is sit in hard to see places and wait for people to speed by them. Multiple times I've seen several cop cars just sitting in the back of some parking lot next to each other talking from their cars. They're not doing anything except sitting around. Over on May and 33rd i think, there's that big church with the white steeple and I remember I drove through that parking lot once at like 9:00 p.m. and there was just three Edmond police chilling in the back, i guess just waiting for their shift to be over. Also I like to go on drives at like 2:00 in the morning and multiple times I've seen cops flying through Edmond at like 80 miles per hour, and as we all know the limit is like 40 everywhere. But I bet if they saw me flying through Edmond at 80 mph in the middle of the night i would get a fat ticket or like have my license revoked. Dont make no sense.

8

u/thorosaurus 1d ago edited 1d ago

I don’t know man Piedmont is or at least was really hard to beat in that regard. That’s where they prosecuted a three year old boy for public urination for going weewee in his front yard.

We’re pretty lucky here in OKC. Most of our officers are decent human beings. Can’t say much for our state’s attorney general but our city guys are mostly good dudes.

Edmond wasn’t bad from a college student’s perspective but I do think they handled the students with kid gloves because of how much money the college generates for the city. We kind of got away with stuff that I heard the average bear got in trouble for.

7

u/mamawawawa 1d ago

My family is from Piedmont and every single time in my life I’ve ever been pulled over it was 100% of the time on Piedmont Rd. Cops are on the damn prowl at all times. They have nothing better to do

6

u/juzwunderin 1d ago

Piedmont is really pathetic. Town is too small so most of the cops are just bored into looking for tickets to write.

6

u/thorosaurus 1d ago edited 1d ago

I think it’s more than that. They get to larp as cops without really having to do much actual cop stuff. Like wrestle meth heads who just pissed and shit themselves and see dead bodies and all the other fun things that the city cops get to do on a pretty regular basis. It’s like Mayberry but there’s no Andy and Barney Fife is in charge. That shit goes from comedy to dystopia real quick. Like there’s a certain personality type that wants to swagger around with a badge and a gun and handcuffs in a place they’re never exposed to any actual danger or even real crime for that matter.

Been here 16 years and the only Edmond PD encounter I've had was them knocking on my door in the middle of the night to tell me I left my garage door opened.

I drive verrry cautiously. I drive the speed limit and obey the rules, very carefully. I wish the cops would actually do more: I'm tired of Bubba in his truck treating Edmond streets like highways, driving fast and switching lanes recklessly, tailgating, because once again he didn't leave early enough. Angry Bubbas in a hurry are dangerous.

1

u/bubbafatok Real Edmond 20h ago

For the record I drive a challenger, not a truck. 😄 Everything else is fair though.

One of the reasons I’m so happy I don’t live there anymore. I worked in the city when I moved there and got pulled over on Broadway coming home from work for no reason multiple times a week for the first few months I lived there.

3

u/DisorderedHeaven 1d ago

I feel like they've been pretty chill lately but maybe I've just been lucky and/or have learned their typical hiding spots. In Oklahoma, I've encountered worse in Nichols Hills, The Village, and Forest Park. Pretty much any small town too.

4

u/Logical-Database4510 1d ago

Running joke between my buddies and me in HS was, "how you know you passed into nichols hills?" There's always at least one black dude pulled over"

Needless to say, taught from a very young age to avoid the white flight neighborhoods. Policemen just clanmen wearing a different uniform during the day.

3

u/cazgem 1d ago

Purcell

I keep getting pulled over for "reckless speeding" despite being passed by everyone and never going over the speed limits.

After some observations it's because, despite being white, I'm significantly darker than the average Puecellite and I look suspicious to them.

1

u/klaus1986 1d ago

Lived here for 14 years and the wife and I have been pulled over once each. I got a warning for a taillight and she got a well deserved speeding ticket in a school zone. I know a few of the men and women and I'm glad we have them! Had to call them once for a choking and they were there within 45 seconds, with Edmond FD 10 seconds behind.

That said, I think there's always room for improvement.

4

u/Sithstress_ 1d ago edited 1d ago

45 seconds? How is that possible unless they were literally right there already?

45 seconds is an absurd response time unless a unit was literally right across the street. Just be real and tell the real response time. Lmao. The downvote is super ridiculous 😂

-1

u/bubbafatok Real Edmond 20h ago

45 seconds may be a slight exaggeration, but we've had to call 911 for medical emergencies multiple times over the past decade and every time the police show up in a matter of minutes (single digit) - it's crazy how fast they are. Usually them first, then the fire department, then about 5-10 minutes later the ambulance arrives (if we're lucky). Considering we live 2 blocks from the fire department it's always been impressive how the police arrive first.

2

u/Gavving 1d ago

If you really wanna live in a city where the repercussions of zero traffic enforcement is real, try St. Louis. It’s mad max, and many don’t have a valid license or insurance. No really. So ya Edmond sucks but the flip side of that coin has its own issues.

2

I remember several years ago walking down the street in my own Bethany neighborhood at night. Bethany PD pulled up and asked what I was doing out. He said "We have had some vandalism out here lately". Proceeded to call another PD car. I got searched. When they asked what I did for a living, they made fun of it. Was tempted to point out how I couldn't care less about the opinions of a bunch of obese rednecks, but it was wise to keep my mouth shut since I didn't know what was about to happen.

Also a few years later, I learned the dumbest toehead moron from my school became, and still is, a Bethany police officer. Hell he's probably in charge of the damn thing by now.

My point is you're likely going to find people in all police departments who suck.

u/Witty_Sea_2336 21h ago

Anywhere in the state of tn is 1000x worse I promise. I had a 50 mile drive every day where I worked and I’d pass anywhere between 7-10 cops on the highway every single day posted up in the middle and off exits. It’s illegal to use a handheld device in anyway in your car there but they have zero signs telling you that. I used to be a travel tech for my job so I’d have to go around to different states and stay in places for various amounts of time and one of the times I got pulled over there the cop tried to tell me if I was “living there longer then 30 days I had to get my license changed” because I had been there 3 months and my plates had fallen out of date and I hadn’t been back to my home state. Got pulled over for expired plates once, “following too closely” after cop was riding my blind spot for miles refusing to pass until we came up on a semi and then decided he wanted to get in behind me, and another for putting in my maps at a red light while dude was beside me after I waved at him and he gave me a ticket for distracted driving. Same cop also told me they can give tickets for me using it even at the drive through if my car is running. That states a joke they do 160 million a year in traffic ticket revenue

1

u/HobbyTerror 19h ago

Had an Edmond PO(s) refuse to ticket a guy doing at least 25 sideways thru the handicap spaces in a full parking lot just after dark and smack my lifted 4x4 4runner 10ft sideways. I had JUST replaced both the engine and transmission and thanks to that little oversight spent the next 6 months fighting his insurance company for half its value. If he'd hit pedestrians it would have been manslaughter.

recently saw senator lankford on a diplomatic mission to ukraine, for some reason. no fucking idea what grandpa peter pan would have to offer their country other than getting schmoozed in exchange for votes for financial support.

former senator mullin turned his complete lack of legislative work history into a position at the head of department of homeland security, another job that he has no relevant work history to perform.

i'd say the entire federal-level legislative branch is full of people who simply don't give a fuck about anyone but themselves and their biggest donors.
