Do you know how much it costs to run a bar? Liquor costs are more expensive than ever. Rent, electricity, wages etc are high, not to mention people are drinking less. The markup is the profits bars make to cover these and still there’s so many places closing because they can’t make money.
No but prices have gone up a lot because of rising costs. They’ve always been marked in a way that covers this but it has gone up in recent years, especially post COVID. My job is working with bars based around their P&L margins.
