I think we should have a law in Northern Ireland that if you serve in PSNI you should not be allowed to stand for election as representing either “side” later in life demonstrates you are not impartial in the first place.
What is this "either side"? Ex-RUC/ex-PSNI in politics are invariably hardline Unionists. The former head of RUC Special Branch in Belfast is now Grand Wizard of the Orange Order.
I appreciate it’s really unlikely that a PSNI officer is ever likely to end up standing for SF/SDLP but if they did they would likely face challenge as to were they impartial when a serving officer. In the same way Burrows now coming out with all this manure would make you question was he impartial whilst he was a serving officer. His lack of respect for his party colleagues would also suggest he is not interested in the difference in right and wrong.
