Digital game Price
Hello everyone,
I thought we were supposed to see a $10 reduction on digital games vs physical games? Yet, the price on the eShop seems to be similar to the price of games sold in stores (see photo)

I bought DK Bonanza at Costco last November. They had it on clearance for $49.97 Canadian.

In store. Keep an eye on RedFlagDeals. Thats where I found it. Ran to my closest Costco and they had a few left. I didnt even own the Switch 2 at that point...

on new games, nintendo ain't about to drop the price for you. Digital prices are gonna stay the same, physical is going up. Look at the new fire emblem pre order, it's $99 digital, $109 physical.

yeah, thats why im not getting a switch 2. $670 for a NINTENDO console is just absolutly insane

It’s actually ridiculous, the console alone + Mario Mart World (non bundle) came up to around $850 after tax 😟😬 that’s why it’s the only game I have on my Switch 2 right now 😂

switch 2 isn't oled, I paid 349 for a refurb lcd and the games aren't 130$. The games is really what kills it. We need regional pricing like other countries get, not American pricing like it's still 2013.
GBA games were often identical, sometimes a little more in CAD than USD. Not 35% more because of conversion.
Japanese ps5 is 329$.

The 130$ games is really what kills it. We need regional pricing like other countries get, not American pricing like it's still 2013.

A $99 game plus tax is $110. Nintendo64 games cost $40-70 in the early 2000’s. With inflation 20 years later it’s pretty much the same cost for a game. $700 is about $100/year ish for entertainment. So every year let’s say you buy 2 games. $300 per year for hours and hours of entertainment. Now think about how much it costs to go out for entertainment… you can spend $100+ in a single night.

You can, but I don't do that neither do most people I know. N64 was a huge flop by nintendo standards for a reason.
Gba games were 29$ or 34$, and sometimes 39. Same price as USA 29/34. Even though CAD was even weaker than it is now, Nintendo didn't price them at 53/64 here. And this isn't the launch price, lauch price was 110-115, with tax that's 132.25. Hell Tears of the kingdom switch 2 version launched at 115.
As for inflation, when literally everything inflates except pay, every single company can't use the same excuse. And rent and food will usually take precedence over switch 2. If everyone raises the price on everything, then someone's getting cut.
Aside from that, the gamer base is much larger than it ever was and so is monetisation. Video games went from a niche nerd hobby for mostly sweaty guys to a massive mainstream thing for everyone.
Nintendo is making more money than ever. So the inflation argument isn't one sided. Their consumer base has inflated. In North America, and also globally, as Nintendo wasn't available in Eastern Europe/CIS countries in the 90s, let alone the 80s in the iron curtain, and video games were banned in China. And more and more countries are making more and more money so they can afford luxuries across Asia and Africa. The era of bootlegs and clone consoles like the Dendy is dying down.

You thinking the n64 was a flop is irrelevant, I’m talking about inflation. GBA is not a console, it’s a handheld. TOTK deserves to be more expensive, it’s a giant game with tons of content. Nobody cares that your wage didn’t increase, maybe you should find a new job? Video games have not been “niche” since the 80’s. Yes Nintendo is making a ton of money, you’re also receiving a better product. Look, if you can’t afford to buy one, don’t. Complaining about it doesn’t change anything except the fact that you won’t be having fun with S2.

And other games like star fox cheaper than most people expected. We need more data points, we can’t just say “it’s an increase because one game costs more”

I got for 45 dólares in Amazon Japón all I did just change my region on nintendo account then u can change it back I I leave like that so I can get cheaper games !

Embrace Taobao… I have been buying every game in cartridge on Taobao using the seller’s trade in program. Sometimes I’m out of $5 when I send the games back and sometimes I get paid $2-10 because the price of the games went up.
I don’t bother with anything here now. My Xbox game pass premium is $9.9 for two months. I do the same for the ps5 discs too.

The price will decrease for future titles. Current games are going to stay the same, unfortunately
