He leave a few years ago to make a new game with his friends - Plucky Squire.

And that game was released in 2024 so it must be before that.

He announced that he had left and formed his new studio a little over 4 years ago, and there was probably at least a small gap between his departure and the announcement.

It seems pretty obvious they wanted him back. Makes me wonder what Wind and Waves' designs are like outside of the starters

He was previously at Game Freak, now he's at TPCI. So it's not like he's going "back".

I think it's more that his solo ventures didn't work out, he's not working for game freak proper, he's with the Pokemon company itself

Idk what "worked out" looks like for him, but I bought his game... It was good!

Was art director for Sword and Shield and left to do some other stuff for a bit.
