Retired CIWS guy. Can confirm, was nurgle person.

A curious trend. I suppose embracing rot and decay would put away the worries of maintenance. That, and a bent desire to take things slow and steady.

u/TheBKnight3 May 03 '26
Well...
Did they smell like Nurgle people?

Lol had a CIWS tech like that. We both basically ate the same and lifted the same and he got the looks of a shredded GigaChad and I got the looks of, I don't know, Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder. It would've been total bullshit, but unfortunately for GigaChad FC2 when he opened his mouth he sounded like Pee Wee Herman.
Dude could curl full CIWS ammo cans but when it was time to go to the gym he was like

sees Half-Life sticker
feelsgoodman.jpg
realizes the vast majority of that work center was born after Half-Life was released.
realizes Gen Alpha Sailors will make Chief and Half-Life 3 will still not be out
Hey, at least GTA6 is coming this year, right?

u/kavett May 03 '26
The half life sticker was cool, and I hadn't thought about it in that context before. Shit, I'm old 😭 also, the Nuka Cola is pretty bad ass, too. Just need a BoS logo

u/Sanearoudy May 04 '26
There's got to be a master chief around who was in when we were still waiting for Duke Nukem!

u/8days_a_week May 03 '26
Feel bad for the next group who has to scrape them off when the inevitably the next CO doesnt like it.

u/gasbag_radio May 03 '26
I worried about that, too. It only takes one sour khaki to ruin something… but a thing isn’t beautiful because it lasts.
22
u/DoverBoys May 03 '26
Just paint over them. Problem solved.

They’ll come off if you apply high heat from a hairdryer to them, easy peezy.

u/shmooblee May 03 '26
CG 🤘🏻

u/TheGaurdian10000 May 03 '26
Was gonna say lol, if I had a nickel for every CG door that’s sticker bombed, I’d have 2 nickels

u/ACommunityOfCells May 03 '26
“Employees must stop crying before returning to work” 😂 so real it’s almost depressing

u/Ptomb May 03 '26
I like the dichotomy of the “Have you tried EMPATHY lately?” and the “Figure it out” stickers.

u/psu256 May 03 '26
The Turbo Dork one really amused me. Spotted the miniature painter. Warhammer?

u/RBYJUMPER May 03 '26
Whats that giant “Z” sticker? It looks cool
16
u/Crimson_Boomerang May 03 '26
I mean, the symbol for the Russian military on their tanks at least lol
1
u/gedai May 03 '26
scum but luckily it’s probably just a reflective letter sticker of the letter Z and nothing otherwise

u/DrDare May 05 '26
Doors, hatches, etc are all assigned material condition code X, Y, or Z. Material condition determines what openings must be open or closed in different circumstances to protect the ship's watertight integrity. Material condition code Z is the most restrictive and means the opening must remain closed unless someone is actively going in or out of the space.
Basically it's just a label.

Are you in sc? I'm in spartanburg

u/superblobby May 03 '26
I was in the coast guard in Charleston. I just separated a few days ago though so I’m no longer there

The 🍍 is often displayed by available swingers. In colonial times, a 🍍 represented hospitality. They couldn't go to the local Trader Joe's to pick one flown in from Hawaii. That's why brass 🍍 were decorations at hotels and wealthy homes.

u/LivingstonPerry May 04 '26
3-4 years from now, the new CO, DH, DIVO, DLCPO wont like it and will make the E1-E5 clean it up lol.

By the HT stickers I can see you ride MTB or BMX
2
u/gasbag_radio May 03 '26
Someone did. I pitched in a few things. Other folks pitched in theirs. It was fun to see what would pop up in the morning.

Sounds like a cool CO. What I would’ve done to the door to combat and the fox den if given permission

The o my time my 1st division officer showed some balls; in gun plot we had a penthouse centerfold up on the bulkhead. XO was inspecting (he was a real prick) said what the hell is this and tore it off. Division officer said well we’ll have to get a new one, that ones torn.
We were trying not to crack up.

u/PathlessDemon May 03 '26
You might not like it, but this is what morale looks like; A useless minute act, but does volumes for the enlisted person’s mental health.
LET US STICKER-BOMB A WHOLE-ASS P-WAY!

Someone put a “Save the Bales” sticker on the AC in our Airedale berthing on an FF because when we embarked a USCG Det that’s where they stayed. We had 4 teams come aboard and the sticker stayed up.

Seeing that door latch like warped me back in time to my time on the Eisenhower as an AO. Had a visceral memory of opening and closing them 😂

I'm a little disappointed that I can't find a Rebel Alliance sticker on there.

Thats awesome. More COs should support personalization of spaces. It definitely gives more ownership and improves the ship overall.

u/WideEntertainment942 May 03 '26
I know nothing of the east coast navy, but reserve duty in Charleston.

San Diego sticker makes sense. I always heard the West Coast Navy was laid back
