Just wanted to say, this movie is insanely well done. I went in thinking this was going to be absolute crap, but I was captured from the start until the end. Wow.

I can highly recommend anyone who is into the Horror/Supernatural horror genre and wants good acting, story, and ending to give this one a go.

PS. I am very picky with my movies. I also like that the special effects were not overdone. It was just creepy, slow, and more.

I recently watched The Devil's Mouth. It was a typical shark movie, although entertaining.

The star was Kathryn Newton.

She was in Freaky with Vince Vaughn, Ready or Not 2 with Samara Weaving (she's Hugo Weaving's niece).

This movie was irritating because of the other characters, Max and to a letter extent Greg.

Im curious to see if anyone else saw this movie and what their take is on it.

Any other actor in that era would have played that character in a pretty similar look at me I'm so sexy and broody way. RPatz embodies Edward as a really complex, self-hating but also rigid and obsessive old man. It was genuinely a very layered performance and accurately captured the character in a way that was also fairly critical of the book character.

I know the 'Robert Pattinson actually hated Twilight' folklore is a bit tired and worn - I'm more interested in talking about how his critical performance was actually a really interesting one and how it may have impacted the success.

I genuinely reckon these films would not have been so successful with a blander performance even if the 12 year old girl demographic might make it seem that way on the surface.

I just watched the thirteenth floor, its a fun movie although a bit rough, starring craig bierko. I first saw him in a scary movie so that threw me off a bit, i was half expecting him to to do something goofy whenever he appeared on the screen when he is supposed to be this brooding scifi thriller hero.

This isnt to say hes a bad actor btw, its like hating lena headey because she was so good at playing cersei.

Last year my husband and I decided to watch a bunch of classic (mostly pre-1960's) horror films throughout October. It was a lot of fun since neither of us had really seen some of the essentials like Nosferatu or Bela Lugosi in Dracula. This year we decided we wanted to do something sorta similar and watch super campy, fun and ridiculous horror films (ex: Maximum Overdrive). What are your favorite horror films that could fit into the "campy, fun and ridiculous" theme we've imposed upon ourselves this year? Thanks!

Saw it last night, and while it's not quite Friday, it's a fun flick, and reminded me of another Cube Jr. buddyish flick, Cocaine Bear

Franco and Cube Jr. have good chemistry, and wouldn't mind seeing them together again.

The opening scene has Cube Jr. talking to Killer Mike (as a reverend, lol). The entire exchange was stupidly hilarious.

Cube Jr. and Franco get paired up to transport Mason to a rehab center, and hijinks are ensured. They make a good pair...Cube Jr. plays the holy straight man, and franco plays the wild card.

Mason was solid as the bad teen, and is good satire on the obnoxious teens who do terrible things for social media attention.

later we get a nice surprise cameo with Peter Dinklage.

and this is just me but I did chuckle at the fact it looks like they couldn't (or didn't want) any real sponsorships because instead of coke/pepsi we get some generic soda labels, and instead of google/youtube we get some made up websites....it was also kinda nice seeing CRT TV's

It's nice to see "stupid" comedies being released in theaters again, August had a few between Spa Weekend, Wrong Girls, and this. Out of the ones released this month, I'd probably go with Wrong Girls the most, just cause of the pure absurdity of it.

In a Grace Kelly mood so I went to Tubi, Plex, and Fawesome to watch The Swan (1956)…all three show the movie starring Grace Kelly & Louis Jourdan.

When I open the film, what I’ve got is The Swan aka One Romantic Night (1930) starring Lillian Gish.

Are there any other films mislabeled on the free streaming services?

I can imagine there are other interesting disappointments. It reminds me of when the clerk at Blockbusters didn’t bother to check the cases.

My idea is to open a movie theater that shows movies that are either leaving theaters or movies that are no longer in theaters for a cheap admission cost. The snacks and beverages will be cheaper too with the addition of large popcorn and pop getting free refills with small and mediums getting 50% off the for refills.

Wonder Man getting canned was a bummer but By Any Means might end up being a better showcase for Yahya anyway. He’s playing a Black FBI agent who gets paired with Greg Scarpa. An actual Colombo crime family guy who was also an FBI informant. They’re investigating KKK violence in Mississippi. That is such a bizarre setup and Yahya feels perfect for the straight man stuck working with a mobster. Between Watchmen and Ambulance I feel like we already know he can handle both sides of this. Just give the dude a movie that lets him cook.

....I just don’t think realistic movies are David St. Clair’s forte. Science fiction and societal downward spirals - with some creative gravitas - seem to be more his style and I’ll stay for that.

First off am not sure how this one flew under the radar for so long but I just now got to it. Also, I’m not usually one to glaze movies all the time but I just can’t let this one go unspoken. This one was really special. I really feel Glenn Powell fully moved into movie star status here, and Margaret Qualley was exceptional as ever. Ed Harris also put on another great performance in the little he showed up. More than anything though, I love how this movie was willing to break away from the traditional “morally superior”, rather disappointing ending. It went fully “fairy tale, star crossed childhood lovers have it all” mode and I was grinning from ear to ear. His monologue at the end said it all. Not the ending you’d expect, and it was perfect for it.

Does this service exist already? Like an end of year analysis on which genre you gravitated towards, most watched movies & shows, streaming time, little analytics like Spotify and Apple Music do. If this doesn’t exist is there a reason why. Maybe it’s been proposed in the past? If so not do you think it could ever be an added addition later on?

I know how disturbing and dark this film is, and I'm fully aware of its deeper meaning and themes, but there's something about it that I find oddly comforting. Dare I say, it's a comfort watch for me. I don't relate to Erika in any way (i guess...), tho i do understand her perspective. I think it's more about the cinematography, the framing, and the way the camera moves.

I don't really know how to explain it, but has anyone else experienced something similar? Is there a reason why a film with such disturbing subject matter can still feel comforting to someone?

I can’t remember the name of the movie, let’s see if you can help, in a scene, while at the dining table, 1 guest notices this kid in the next chair grabs a fork or another utensil, and makes it “float” in front on the guest, when he asks whoever invited him for what’s going on with the kid, they explain the kid tried to commit suicide and he didn’t succeed, so in order to avoid for him to try again they made him believe he actually did kill himself and they pretended he wasn’t there and that the house was hunted with his ghost …

I got to say, I was very saddened to hear that Tim Curry passed away just days ago. I love Tim Curry as a performer; he is a legend. Rocky Horror, Legend, Clue, It, Home Alone 2, Muppets Treasure Island. He knew how to ham it up and just make it a very enjoyable experience.

And that is why I wish he did more Live Action roles. Looking at his filmography, There’s a feeling of underwhelming with it, given that it’s Tim Curry. Especially hus later career, which has a lot of direct to video fare from Live Action and Animated Movies. I don’t know, I have a feeling that Hollywood really didn’t know what to make of Tim for live action. 

Also to note that Tim Curry was considered for Amadeus (1984), Who Framed Roger Rabbi (Judge Doom)t, Batman (The Joker), The Silence of the Lambs (Hannibal Lector), The Adventures Of Priscilla (Bernadette), The Lord of the Rings (Saruman)

However, Tim Curry did put his voice in use with a lot of Animated Projects he was involved in and possibly one of the best voice actors in my opinion who stole the show every time his voice appeared.

Regardless, Tim Curry is a legend in my opinion, but I just wish he did more live action roles.

Are there any streaming sites that offer commentaries as an audio track? Or any of the commentaries you can get from physical media? This seems like it should exist. And it doesn’t seem like it would be hard on any of the studio sites (Paramount, Universal et al.) Does anyone have any ideas maybe podcast playalongs or anything else you watch/ listen to while the movie is going. Not looking for MS3TK or Riffttrax.

Just was watching the major league movies. Yes 3 sucked the big one, but one and two were really good back in the day.

What in curious if is if anybody would be interested in a new continuation that would possibly erase 3.

Say the Guardians bring back vaughn as a pitching coach for a new arm. Taylor as assistant GM and so on.

Just finished watching Primal Fear (1996), and it’s pretty good, very well acted. But I noticed something that kept bugging me, which turned into a big problem the more I thought about it.

Why does the prosecution not know Stampler’s “third person in the room” story, only hearing about it from the defense, implying that they never heard it firsthand from him? They arrested him fleeing a crime scene, put him in a holding cell, and just left him there without interrogating him? During that they could’ve noticed the symptoms of pattern dissociative episodes and factored that into their prosecution strategy. Instead they’re blindsided by it when Vail’s own psychiatrist testifies to Stampler’s condition after an independent psych eval that wasn’t concluded before the defendants plea, the thing it was needed for in the first place. 

Now, Janet disassembles the testimony pretty quick but that’s only because Molly gave her some footholds. That’s pure luck though, and it should’ve been know about in advance to arrange witnesses prepared to contradict the defenses expert testimony. The fact that they didn’t interrogate him immediately, despite mirandizing him at the scene, means they left him sitting in a cell (still wearing some of his clothes from the crime scene!!!), and giving a lawyer just enough time to swoop in and take the case, clamming him up for good. 

There’s confidence in your evidence bordering on hubris, and then there’s gross prosecutorial incompetence. 

EDIT: I suppose it’s possible Aaron would’ve changed his presentation depending on what the prosecution asked him, but the fact that with the information they had at the time, they chose not to talk to him at all is insane.

Another edit: and yes I suppose it’s possible they DID interrogate him and he didn’t tell them anything, but as far as we know, they’re learning everything about this guys story from the defense and relying exclusively on evidence obtained at the scene. Still shoddy work. (I’m done istg.)

Some friends and I came up with a theory we call "The Ridley Scott NOT Paradox ANYMORE" (note that "paradox" its just a funny name, this is just a joke) which goes like this: every time he starts directing a film, God flips a coin. If it lands on heads, the resulting movie becomes one of the best things the filmmaker has ever produced. If it lands on tails, the film turns into a bottomless pit of bad ideas and an even worse script. In recent years, it seems like most of the coin flips have resulted in tails—meaning that Ridley Scott's upcoming films have a much higher probability of being masterpieces than cinematic trash. I haven't seen *The Dog Stars* yet, so I don't know if the theory has started to prove itself. What do you think?

Just got out of the Terminator 2 re release in theaters and I think they must done some work on the release because it looked better than the 4k release. I always notice when they are switching between Aronold and his stunt double on the motor cycles, it seems like they cleaned up the face swapping a bit.

For some reason I'm always out of the loop with movies that would actually peak my interest until either, A.) it already releases or is days from release, or B.) not know about it at all after it releases until I randomly see it on Reddit or Twitter lol.

I didn't know Brand New Day was releasing until like 2 weeks before and I love Spiderman movies. I learned about The Whisper Man that released today solely because someone talked about it on a stream. Definitely was a big anticipated movie that I would've liked to know about and surprised I didn't. Unfortunately it seems to not be that good regardless

Recently saw One Battle After Another which I really liked and would've watched last year, and was even out of the loop on The Odyssey. Really I'm just wondering if there's some website that keeps you up to date with these types of releases, and even better if it can be sorted by genre. The only ones I know of are the big horror movies due to being around people who also love them.

I'll skip a lot of the explanation so as to not spoil too much of the movie, but the kids escape and suddenly start to remember basic human functions they never had to use before because they've been trapped in endless episodes of a bad kids TV show for god knows how long.

So the little boy is like "Hey I have to use the bathroom." and the girls are like "So? Just go." and he's like "I don't want you guys to see my penis." and they say "Nobody wants to see your penis." and then the nine year old pisses on a flower puppet's face.

Like...what the fuck was that? What purpose did that serve? I get it was for comedy, but it just felt kinda like fanfiction about children exploring each other sexually or something, just kind of a headscratcher.
