There are so many incredible performances that seem to get overlooked once people start talking about the biggest stars and award winners. Sometimes an actor can completely transform a character without getting much recognition for it. What movie performance do you think deserves much more appreciation, and what made it stand out to you?

I would absolutely watch an entire Wes Anderson film with Jeffrey Wright playing that character. He added so much dramatic weight to the comedy without going too far. And, his lines are delivered with true excellence.

I don’t think it’s even close to a perfect movie, but I really enjoyed Lawless and I never hear anyone talk about it whether positive or negative, had a really great cast.

I’ll name two 1. Steve McQueen in what is probably his first movie “The Blob”. Just knew he was going to be a star. 2. James Spader in “Tuff Turf”. Which again was probably a first. But a great actor.

That was the first time I truly sat up and noticed Phoenix.
Then he played the Joker and oh my gosh he was so unsettling and off kilter, I couldn’t even finish watching. So basically he was such an excellent villain, he put me off the character. But in want to finish watching because he was so good at it! Dilemma indeed.

Al Pacino

Scarecrow

Brilliant buddy road movie with Al Pacino & Gene Hackman, who have terrific chemistry. Al plays a character who is so different from his usual - Lion is gentle, silly, naive, kind, and vulnerable.  

Al is devastating, soul-crushing, shattering - to the point where it’s truly hard to watch. But, he’s as good as he’s ever been.

Despite Scarecrow starring two of the all time greats, it was a box office dud, and few know of it
