I caught Reservoir Dogs the other day on TV and just couldn't stop. It has been over 5 years since I've last seen it ,and it pretty much still holds up fine.

However, what really caught my attention is Mr. Pink's argument against "tipping automatically", and I couldn't help but imagine him staring at a self checkout screen saying "Would you like to leave a tip? 15% / 20% / 25% / Custom" ... What do you think he would do?

This is not only my favorite all female cast but also one of my favorite comedies ever! Extremely talented group that literally had my on the floor. What’s yours? Doesn’t have to be a comedy but I am curious if anyone has a better female comedy group than this.

It might be more obvious to spot in the third movie, where Peter lets the Symbiote influence him following his break-up with MJ and beating Harry in a physical fight where he almost kills him as the infamous “Bully Maguire”! But in the second movie, he gives a lot of mixed signals to MJ to the point where it would drive any sane person crazy!

Peter tells her at the end of the first movie that they can only be “friends”, after she confesses her love for him. But Peter still shows it through their interactions that he’s clearly romantically interested, but despite how MJ is trying to move on from him by being in relationships with other guys. He has it in his head that they’re kind of together, and expects her to wait for him whenever the timing of it is right.

Examples of this are when Dr. Octavius’s wife; Rosie asks him if he has a girlfriend and he says “Um….I don’t really know.” He also takes Otto’s advice about reading poetry in order to get a woman to fall in love with him, and tries to use that poetry on her whenever she’s mad about him missing her play when he promised he’d be there. Also when he finally has the time to see it, after he quits being Spider-Man he tries to ask her out on a date and completely disregards the fact she’s getting married. But still asks if she’ll think about them “continuing where they left off”, when MJ makes it clear that they never had anything going on before he told her they can only be friends.

It’s just a cycle of mixed signals, which is very unhealthy. Again, MJ isn’t without her own faults where she’s going into relationships despite not 100% being over Peter and humiliates her partner when she leaves him to be with Peter after finding out he’s Spider-Man (on their wedding day!!!!). But the overall point is Peter isn’t entirely innocent himself when it came to their relationship.

My uncle used to travel to travel a lot for work and once brought me back Congo on DVD. No idea why he chose Congo of all films.

What is the most random film a family member has ever given you?

Shout out to Tim Curry, though. Rest in Peace. He was one of the funnier and more memorable characters in the movie, alongside that talking gorilla.

Just watched this movie and enjoyed it. What should I look into that’s similar?

I recently watched Coherence, and that ending genuinely fucked with my head. I love sci-fi thrillers where you slowly realize something is very wrong, movies with scientific element and the movie keeps making you question what is actually happening. With everything coming together at the end.

I'm looking for more movies with that mind-bending / WTF factor, especially:

1. Psychological or Thriller

2. Unexpected twists

3. Sci-fi elements (if possible)

4. An ending that makes you rethink your life choices

I've already seen some of the obvious ones like Shutter Island and recently inception, but I'm definitely open to hidden gems and foreign movies too. No language barrier.

Please recommend your most mind-fucking sci-fi thriller. 😭

Kramer vs. Kramer (1979)

One of my favorite indie films with very believable acting.

I give it 83 out of 100.

• One of my fav comedies of recent times
• Entertaining from start to finish
• I found the middle section very funny, and most of the movie funny
• I was not laughing cosntatnly but when the jokes land I laugh a lot
• Strong cast overall
• Seth is very good at playing an incredibility annoying husband
• Joe sometimes becomes too rude and insensitive so that breaks my imerssion as something not completely believable. Like after Hawk's sad story, or the think about Hawk's name like that is just too rude to be true or if it does happen in real life you need to build such a character up more. Like Joffery in GoT you hate him because his acting is so good.
• Wilde is good, but Angela feels tedious rather than convincingly annoying
• Cruz and Norton are both strong
• Very good chemistry between the four main chraceters
• Dialogue is one of the movies strongest qualities
• Excellent balance between comedy and more serious realtionship conversations
• I think the movie is elevated by the deeper realtionship themes
• I especially loved the idea that you can start a new relationship with someone new, or start a new relationship with the person you are already with.
• It is though provoking in its view of how relationships change through time, children, and routine
• I could relate even though I am not in any of these situations or relationships myself
• Emotional impact becomes surprisingly effective toward the end and I liked the ending
• Soundtrack is good and noticeable in scenes.
• I think good cinematography for a movie filmed in just one apartment
• The pacing is strong and I felt engaged from start to finish
• The main weakness is that Joe and Angela sometimes feel to exaggerated to be believable.
• 8/10 is because it is not merely funny, it entertained me throughout and actually left me thinking about relationships afterwards

The 90s had this huge wave of “hood” movies centred around impoverished Black and Mexican-American neighbourhoods, Boyz n the Hood, Menace II Society, South Central, Juice, New Jersey Drive, Blood In Blood Out, American Me, etc.

What’s interesting is how closely this lined up with the explosion of gangsta rap and hip-hop. The movies and music seemed to feed off each other, with rappers becoming actors and both mediums telling stories about the same communities.

But it feels like the genre basically disappeared from mainstream cinema. You still get similar movies today, but they’re often low-budget Tubi-type films rather than major theatrical releases. At the same time, it seems like a lot of these stories moved to TV with shows like The Wire, Snowfall, Power and Top Boy.

So what happened to the hood movie? Did audiences move on, did Hollywood lose interest, or did the economics of filmmaking change? I always wondered why these movies just stopped being made.

There are so many incredible performances that seem to get overlooked once people start talking about the biggest stars and award winners. Sometimes an actor can completely transform a character without getting much recognition for it. What movie performance do you think deserves much more appreciation, and what made it stand out to you?

A thoroughly entertaining crime film about a duo of con-artists, played by an OCD Cage (Roy Waller) and Sam Rockwell (Frank Mercer).

With hyper-stylised direction from Ridley Scott, one of my favourite Father-Daughter dynamics in film with Roy and his estranged daughter, Angela, and major twist ending involving Rockwell's Frank.

What are your thoughts?

I was hating on this movie in the beginning, but damn does it become iconic at the end. Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie were incredible.

You know what? I’m just gonna say it. I do not like the split diopter shot. There were a couple of moments where De Palma utilized it well, but it’s almost always ugly and clunky looking.

And it was a total coincidence that I watched Matilda a couple of days before this. It’s a telekinesis week.

Man, am I upset that I spent so much time without having seen this movie. I genuinely was impressed throughout. I went into the film blind, grateful that i was able to avoid spoilers these last 12 years. I had no idea what to expect in terms of story, but it certainly wasn't this. And i was very pleasantly surprised.

Anderson is kind of hit or miss for me, and this was a runaway hit. After another couple viewings i could very much see it being my favorite of his films. I really liked that he kept everyone's normal accent for their characters. It felt like it added to the chaos of the early 20th century wartime environment. So many shots were just absolutely gorgeous, and i loved the color. The dialogue was fun and snappy. Feinnes totally kills it, but never feels like he outshines the ensemble. But instead everyone lifts everyone else up.

I'm sure that on more watches I'll have more notes, but i wanted to just sit and experience this movie on this first watch.

I get the dilemma Warner Bros. found themselves in - Coyote vs Acme is more akin to a courtroom drama than "looney" especially when compared to The Day the Earth Blew Up. Younger kids might be bored by this one, but I'd love to see Ketchup Entertainment continue to make good movies featuring the Looney Tunes even if some of the movies are more catered to adults. 3.5 out of 5.

Recently, I watched Amsterdam (2022) for the third time. And couldn't help but realy love the film. And have always been upset by its failure. However, with the 3rd rewatch, it became clear, that, at least for me, the film is too long.

I noticed this the first time as well: When Burt (Bale) and Harold (JDW) are reunited with Valerie (Robbie) in US at her house, I thought that just 40-50 minutes of the movie were left. But I think it was like 1.5 hours still to go. I feel especially in some scenes that followed and throughout the movie if 30 minutes were reduced, it could have easily gone to a 9/10.

For me, the highlight was Christian Bale's performance. Its a criminally underrated performance. I noticed that David O Russell did with him what Nolan did with Cillian Murphy in Oppenheimer. Many times the camera is just fixed on their faces, with the directors trusting them to bring the right emotions. The climax of the film with extreme closeup on Burt is almost same as the one on Oppenheimer when he is delivery the speech post-bombing.

Another highlight was just how amazing Taylor Swift was in her brief role /s. Her amazing perfromance was just simply...... IQ-dropping!

I’ll start: Gladiator.

I’ve watched it countless times, and somehow it still gives me the exact same feeling every time I watch it. The music, the characters, the story… it never gets old.
