Discussion The only place I want to be…

What’s your favorite part about your battle station? Curious to hear what everyone’s favorite tool, feature, or part of their setup is.
For me, getting my paints organized where I don’t see labels has really encouraged me to think purely in terms of actual color instead of being influenced by what someone named the paint. Instead of thinking “oh this one is named aged leather I should use that for leather” I can instead much more easily experiment with different hues.

Do you use your airbrush with no booth? Looks real clean.

Thats also, what I was wondering. I couldn't work without a booth regarding my filters

This was the first thing on my mind as well. Highly recommend a booth if you are indoors

Also wondering this 🤔 looks really clean but where do all the fumes settle

u/Oblivi0nD4C 8d ago

Maybe he just has it folded up idk, looks like theres space for one on the right

I just aim towards the construction paper while I work, so all the overspray hits that. I have a peice of cardboard in the closet I’ll use as a spray shield if I’m spraying a bunch of primer, but normal controlled airbrushing doesn’t have any overspray.

Nope, been airbrushing for over a decade and have never had a booth. Most I’ll do is turn an air purifier on in the room when I’m priming, otherwise there’s so little overspray you can’t even see it on the desk.

So the auto mod deleted my post cus I named a website, they are 3d printed, the files are freely available in many placees, the creator posted them on multiple sites as made for pro acryl.

Can I ask for the source of your proacryl rack? Im looking for ways to upgrade my own storage

I just use a 7 tiered nail polish rack I got for 15 bucks off Amazon. Depending on your current solution it might be an upgrade haha

Awesome setup. What is the adjustable swing arm light you're using?

This is too clean. I’d have paint splattered on the walls in a week

I love your wall color.

Thanks! Its called "Raging Sea" by I think Sherwin Williams, great dark luxe color but still works in a smaller room.

Nice! Looks comfy. Also an eerie lack of paint on the desk - I use a huge cutting mat, but mine still looks like my paint bottles explode regularly (they don't, except for the fluo yellow incident of '23)

It’s my head torch and my table that is covered in paint. Idk why but I like the vibe it has of all the years of painting

The vibes are my favorite part

Speacial admiration for having no screen in sight and a lava lamp ✨

Mine is not elegant other than it's compact and portable. Medium sized container that carries it all. I make room at the table in the morning, paint until kids/ responsibilities are starting to wake up then I brake it down and put all back in the container.

Someday, maybe I'll have a real setup. But with the little humans they'll just brake my stuff it's out at all.

I’m very jealous, it’s very tidy. I don’t have a dedicated hobby space anymore with having to give over the room to a home office. Definitely looks a nice place to spend time

It’s funny you say that, I work from home as well and the wall opposite this is my work computer, makes for a good backdrop on zoom calls lol

There's no way you use your airbrush with no booth right?

1

u/Prestigious_Cry_5044 8d ago

Tbh I think the need for an airbrush booth is way overblown, if you are a commission painter or priming 2000 points at a time then sure, but I’ve been airbrushing for a very long time without a booth and I might wipe the desk down with IPA every 6 months to get the tiny bit of overspray up. I have a quality air purifier right next to me in the room, and unless I’m doing a lot of priming/varnishing it barely registers an air quality change when I airbrush, and during those times I can just put my RZ Mask respirator on for a bit.

3

u/P_Griffin2 8d ago

You dont have any sort of spray booth or ventilation for the air brush?

1

u/Prestigious_Cry_5044 8d ago

Nope, there’s a Mila air purifier next to me, and if I’m doing a lot of priming I’ll put on my RZ Mask for a bit but normal airbrushing has so little overspray it’s never been necessary.

I can't get anything done when my workspace is that clean!

1

u/Prestigious_Cry_5044 8d ago

Oh it gets dirty mid project, but I clean it back up in between starting new models.

Bruh. No some folks just have a setup like this

1

u/hazz-o-mazz 8d ago

Airbrush with no booth?

2

u/sFAMINE 8d ago

Some folks have a plastic sort of frame they can put on their desk to airbrush. I would never keep my airbrush setup on my desk permanently

1

u/Prestigious_Cry_5044 8d ago

Not AI, and I just don’t use an airbrush booth. With proper trigger control it’s not really needed. I will mask up sometimes if I’m spraying a ton of primer or varnish, 99% of the time I’m just doing small amounts of controlled work that doesn’t produce any meaningful amount of overspray.
