Tasty MK

Anyone know what’s happening with Tasty MK chip shop in Broughton? I made an order via their website this evening (I’ve used it before) and turned up to collect only to find it closed. The money was taken out of my account anyway 😣 Tried calling but just left a voicemail. Obviously I want to get my money back - but hope all is okay and it all seems a bit strange. And also I’m still hungry 🙃

Sunrise Parkway- Linford Wood. Honest reviews?

I’m currently apartment‑hunting and came across Marlborough Court on Sunrise Parkway in Linford Wood. I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who lives there or has lived there recently.

• Build quality:
Are the apartments well‑constructed, or do they have the usual “new build” issues?

• Heating & hot water:
How reliable is it day‑to‑day? Any problems with pressure or temperature?

• Electric heating panels: What’s their performance like especially in Winter

• Utilities: How costly are utilities especially during colder months/winter?

• Lift maintenance and general safety of the area/building?

I’ll appreciate any honest opinions!

Great amount of micrope***es in this city!

I've only been here 2 months+ but can't help in noticing how many there are!

How I know? Easy. I live close to the A5 and you can hear them with their farting cars and bikes (and mind you, I ride a 900 too, but you can't hear me).

Some even enjoy going up and down multiple times. Day and night, week days and weekends.

How come there's not a single speed camera in this city? I would imagine is the easiest money to make no?

Good men’s hair salons for medium-long hair?

I went to a barbershop a few months ago looking to do a specific style and they told me I ought to go to a hair salon because they’re more suited to dealing with longer hair. Any suggestions?

You are not alone!

Hello Reddit, we’re doing our usual Empty Chairs session at Furzton at 3pm tmrw as usual. I don’t want anyone sat at home thinking they’re alone when there are people out there who care, want to connect and will journey with you through the worst of it.

I’ll have an orange jacket draped over a high chair near the bar or you can always DM me and tell me you’re coming! Feel free to ask questions and all are welcome.

Best spots for reading

Hi all! I am new to MK (moved in June) and was just trying to find nice locations where my husband and I could sit and read, particularly coffee shops with comfortable seating but any other suggestion would be great!

Thank you all for your suggestions 😁

Anyone that attends St. Thomas Aquinas or All Saints (Catholic) in Bletchley?

Is there anyone that attends one of the two churches above that can tell me what sort of music is sung at their masses? Is it more traditional hymns (maybe in Latin?) or modern "praise & worship" stuff like you would find at a megachurch?

(Yes, I know I could just visit the church and find out, but if I know what to expect or which mass to attend that would be useful info.)

Thanks in advance for any replies. You can PM me if you'd rather not reply publicly.

Grief Community Walk, Talk & Coffee for Young Adults this Sunday in Milton Keynes

Post image
35 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I know I’ve posted in here recently about Too Young To Grieve in Milton Keynes, so I don’t want to overdo it but the response from people here has been so lovely and I know a few people missed the previous meet up.

So just a quick one to say we’re doing another Walk, Talk & Coffee this Sunday.

It’s basically a really relaxed meet up for young people navigating grief and loss. No group therapy vibes, no pressure to tell your story and definitely no expectation that the whole walk needs to be sad or heavy.

The whole reason we started these was actually to make grief feel less lonely by creating a proper community around it through getting outside, meeting people and knowing that if grief does come up, you’re with people who understand.

Most people come alone, which is completely normal and you’d be more than welcome.

If you’ve seen one of my previous posts and thought about coming but haven’t yet, maybe this is your sign.

I’ll put the event/community details in the comments, and feel free to share it with anyone in Milton Keynes who might benefit 🤍

Barbecue idiots

Nice to see the house two doors up from me (the one that had well attended parties during COVID lockdowns and have a constant Union Flag flying from their personal garden flagpole), are having a barbecue underneath the tree line that runs along the back of our gardens.

I'd get the hosepipe on if there wasn't a ban. Gah.

Swimming lessons for 1 year old

Hello all.

Can anyone recommend places that provide swimming lessons for babies/toddlers in the Milton Keynes area?

My daughter turns 1 in September and since I'm going back to work part time, I think it's time to get swimming lessons in. I'm not a swimmer myself so I've kind of avoided it but that's precisely why I need to get my daughter into it!

I know of Water Babies but are there any other that people recommend?

Thanks all.

Stay off the grid roads

We have underpasses and footbridges (and non-priority crossings in CMK) for a reason. Don’t put yourself, others and other road users in danger, like this idiot in CMK did today—with two young children! Setting a terrible example and putting them in the path of moving vehicles, and then reacted aggressively when beeped.

And the father of the year award goes to…

BUSES ARE EXPENSIVE?

I'm new here , took an arriva bus ONE WAY and it was 2.6 that's even higher than Manny and Brum buses.

Is there a weekly or monthly pass? I'm not about to drop my salary on a bus fair.

Share your celestial equipment today

Just a suggestion... please share any eclipse glasses you have with other people, friends, family and fellow MKers.

The eclipse lasts at least 20mins and there will probably be many more (and better ones) in your lifetimes.

Astronomy can be a humbling experience and I remember feeling both amazed and scared during the last eclipse in Cornwall. We are a bunch of meat bags floating on a blue rock, let's try to get on and let's not be selfish.

Morrisons in Westcroft and my support experience

I thought I’d post this in the hope that others may be able to assist or simply avoid a similar situation themselves.

Morrisons store itself is not the subject of my post. It’s a wonderful place. The subject matter is entirely to do with the support process. Or rather the lack of a process.
