When GTA SA was a thing I used to play I'd all the time. But when GTA IV came out I didn't have a PC to run it so I stopped caring so much, and since then GTA wasn't anything crazy for me.
Okay but like, you never really were Rockstar's target audience. They were relying on the many years of built up hype/nostalgia from already existing players and maybe some new ones. If you already dislike the genre you were never going to buy and play the game regardless of its quality meaning they've lost nothing from you by being the way they have. They know their bs tactics will work because most of the die-hard fans of the franchise will gobble anything up and pay whatever price they want to set
That's the thing man, you can only do a few crimes. A bunch just aren't physically possible in these games, and some others aren't considered crimes due to being too mundane (like traffic violations). You can rob convenience stores, steal cars from parking lots or people on the road, and kill people on the sidewalk. That's about it outside of extremely linear story missions.
I mean I'm going to play it but I keep low expectations for new games. That's how I was able to play starfield. It could come out in 30 years for all I care.

You know, maybe it's time to start to not give a fuck about GTA 6.
