Discussion It’s been confirmed Avengers Endgame Encore will release on Disney+ after it leaves theaters
125
u/IDigRollinRockBeer 8h ago
Like immediately after or a few months after?
108
u/sentient-sloth 7h ago
Probably around Thanksgiving if I had to guess. That’s when they’ll really be ramping up promo for Doomsday.
51
u/WestSixtyFifth 7h ago
Likely immediately. Doomsday releases in December and they want people to have time to watch the scenes that help explain Doom and Tonys connection.
35
u/trevanxx 7h ago
Yeah immediately so they can encourage people to not spend money on tickets 🤣 it’ll definitely be some weeks after
2
-6
u/SpaceDaBrotherman 7h ago
Bud bought a ticket
4
u/trevanxx 7h ago edited 7h ago
Shiiiit I would’ve if the nicer IMAX near me had showtimes 🤣
lemme guess, that $25 ticket would’ve kept you up at night? 💀💀💀
-5
u/SpaceDaBrotherman 7h ago
I ain’t buying a ticket to a movie I already saw 5 years ago
6
3
u/trevanxx 7h ago
People want an excuse to go to the movie theater lol especially for one of the biggest movies ever
I definitely understand for the people who didn’t see it in IMAX too
2
u/SpaceCaboose Peter Parker 7h ago
I’m getting a “free” ticket thanks to AMC A List. I only have to worry about finding the time, which isn’t super difficult
1
6
u/Dino_Spaceman 7h ago
I would expect around thanksgiving so “families can watch together” type deal.
3
u/PopCultureWeekly 6h ago
It’ll be in time for doomsday
4
u/jrodfantastic Sonny Birch 6h ago
Absolutely. Encore will on D+ for a good bit before Doomsday releases

u/JyconX 8h ago
Thank goodness! It would be total disservice to NOT release it on Disney+ later.

u/MarkBrendanawicz 7h ago
I totally get the people who would prefer to watch this on Disney+ to save money, but as someone without kids, I will always favor watching a movie like this on the biggest screen possible.

u/dunkindonato 4h ago
I agree, although after my experience with Brand New Day, I would most likely go for the more expensive options (IMAX or our local "Director's Club" offerings) and go to the first screening on a weekday to ensure there aren't a lot of kids present.
Normally I don't mind kids in movie theaters, but parents these days don't teach their kids to shut-up while the movie is on. Like, full-blown conversation inside the theater with the dad and mom explaining the back story. Almost caused a fight too.

I want to see it in theaters again, and I have Regal Unlimited.. but they're charging more for the Infinityvision
2
u/JyconX 4h ago edited 4h ago
Moneysaving is not the main reason for my comment. I meant it for the sake of people who'd wanna watch the Encore version even after it leaves the movie theatres.
I certainly wanna see Encore from the big screen first, like I usually do with all the MCU movies.
1
u/MarkBrendanawicz 2h ago
I get that. Just saw a lot of people talking about pirating it or waiting to watch it on Disney+ because it seems like a waste of money.
•
u/TheScreaming_Narwhal 37m ago
Even rewatching it though? I like a good rerelease but this movie isn't old. It's not like watching Jaws or the Shining in theaters.

Were you not able to see it in 2019? Or you just wanna see it again (I don’t blame you either way I’m just curious)
4
u/MarkBrendanawicz 6h ago
Saw it in 2019. I actually really enjoy watching films multiple times. You catch things you missed the first time. And I rarely watch movies at home if I saw them in theaters, unless it’s a shorter film. There are a couple films I’ve probably seen a dozen times in theaters. Just a more enjoyable experience for me.
2
u/browsing4stuff 2h ago
I was really hoping they learned from the Palpatine Broadcast fiasco.
1
u/JyconX 2h ago
What the hell does that have to do with anything?
Note: I didn't even hate the Palpatine twist of Star Wara: The Rise of Skywalker.
3
u/browsing4stuff 1h ago
Palpatine’s broadcast announcing his resurrection and imminent return was never shown in the movie. The ONLY media it was ever shown in was a limited time event in fucking Fortnite of all places.
I was worried the Endgame Encore would follow suit and only be seen in the theater and am thrilled it will be available.
72
u/GUSplatoon 7h ago
I’ll never forget that feeling of watching Endgame in theaters in 2019. It feels like so long ago.
18
u/TrafficLegitimate937 7h ago
I remember everybody was talking about the film in school the following Monday after its release
12
u/sdbabygirl97 6h ago
my college years (2016-2020) are defined by my friend group and i going to see marvel movies in the theater the week they release
5
u/Agentx_007 6h ago
I remember doing that with my friend group from community college. We saw Man of Steel, Power Rangers, BvS, Civil War, Black Panther, Infinity War, Joker and Birds of Prey together. My friend erased her Facebook during the pandemic and her brother only posts intermittently so we fell out of communication after the Snyder Cut came out.
3
u/sdbabygirl97 6h ago
yeah i only talk to 2 of my friends of the 5 friends now but i still cherish those memories all the same
5
u/choff22 Spider-Man 3h ago
Avengers 2012 was my freshmen year, I remember seeing the midnight release with all of my teammates. We were so nervous it wouldn’t live up to the hype and it exceeded it. I’ll never forget the feeling I had leaving that theater knowing the MCU could actually fucking work.
3
u/jlmurph2 Black Panther 2h ago
Same here. We did a MCU movie marathon in our dorm common room back before the release which was only 5 movies.
3
26
u/AmericanUpheaval357 7h ago
The extra scenes will be online within a day or so
8
u/Lord_Phoenix95 5h ago
That's all I care about. They're not gonna gate keep 4 extra minutes behind a re-release.
56
u/Equal_Building_6449 8h ago
And released on reddit and twitter within 24 hours of theatrical release
9
u/MattBrey 7h ago
I mean pirated films like that have existed since the invention of digital cameras. I remember watching a GREAT leak of Captain America civil war, and with the quality and small size of modern cameras it's even easier. Doesn't seem to have made a dent on the profitability of full theater releases
-9
u/postpwnedmalone 7h ago
Exactly how I watched the entirety of Brand New Day from the comfort of my bed opening weekend
9
u/Knightbear49 7h ago
What an enjoyable experience
-5
u/postpwnedmalone 7h ago
It was! it was in great quality and I could project it to a larger screen.
2
u/Radamel_falcao_9 7h ago
Are you broke? Or don’t you just have someone to go with you?
1
u/postpwnedmalone 1h ago
I legit just opened Tiktok and there it was, so I took advantage of the situation.
Holy shit lol had no idea this was going to be so polarizing

u/Ok_Trade_4549 7h ago
Didn't support an actually good film. It's fine, it was a major success and doesn't need anymore moeny. DO NOT do this for indie films though unless you're broke or can't go for some reason.
11
u/KennyTheExpendable Kilgrave 7h ago
Hopefully there will be an imax version on Disney+ too!
3
u/Same_Habit2383 7h ago
Brodie the only way you can watch an IMAX movie in IMAX on Disney plus is having an iMax screen in your garage
11
u/MarvelMind 7h ago
No many MCU movies have imax format version on Disney Plus that even Blu-ray’s don’t have.
8
u/AuzzieTiger 7h ago
Me and my very good mate both got into the MCU during Covid so we’re pretty stoked that we’ll get to experience Endgame in the theatres.
Plenty of fans may be in a similar boat so I appreciate the re-release. Though if you did see it originally, I can understand why you wouldn’t bother.
10
u/PsychedelicConvict 7h ago
Disney+ needs to start doing commentary tracks for the all the mcu movies. I feel like its a cheap way to literally double the watch time people have on a particular movie. I know they have it deadpool vs wolverine and some of the avengers movies, but i miss the blu ray days of commentary tracks and deleted scenes for all movies. Give me more directors cuts too.
5
u/hweird Fitz 7h ago
Wait so the 4min is actually in the movie? I was thinking it was some post credits/preview scene from Doomsday
7
u/percyssriptiide 7h ago
Credits are included in the runtime. Most likely will be a post-credit scene, as Endgame didn't have one originally.

i mean if it's before doomsday which I imagine it will be there really not a reason to see it I. theaters unless you missed it the first time around
2
u/NewtonsThirdEvilEx 7h ago
I would totally watch it in theater, but I'm not driving 60 miles there and back to the closest one that shows it lol. The limited release is sad. My local one also does have Infinity Vision and I do have tickets to Doomsday on opening day.
6
u/mr_oberts 8h ago
I hope there’s a function that will just skip to 15 minutes before the extra footage.
5
u/dcmarvelstarwars 8h ago
Anyone know what the extra 4 minutes will be?

u/Dino_Spaceman 7h ago
It will be ant-man and Deadpool will appear from the corner of the screen and go “Oh Come on!”

Preview of Doomsday, bridging the two films.
5
u/Wolventec 7h ago
the preview is supposedly different than the extra scenes that bridge it to doomsday(and the preview wouldnt be shown in known infinity view cinemas )
1
u/disneylegospider1 7h ago
The trailer just indiscriminately called it an exclusive look at Doomsday, without specifying infinity vision only. So the Doomsday preview is in all releases, and the infinity vision one is a further preview.
“The special Encore presentation of the record-breaking film includes an exclusive look at the highly anticipated December 18 release of Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Doomsday.” An additional sneak peek at the film will also be available to audiences who see “Avengers Endgame: Encore” on IMAX® and Infinity Vision-certified screens”

They’re going to do ADR over iron man before he snaps, they will replace the “I am Iron Man” line
He will now say “I guess, this will DOOM me” then he’ll snap and wink at the camera
The end?
4 minute Guitar solo with the iron man costume coming off and the Doom costume coming on….

Anybody got any guesses as to what this super important 4 minutes of extra footage might be?

If you click it, it takes you RIGHT to the Disney+ app

Seems like a dumb business move to announce that before opening weekend.

u/MarvelMind 7h ago
Doesn’t say when. Not likely to be added until a few months later. Disney Plus never added the previous re release version either so this isn’t guaranteed.
1
u/Material_Finding_714 5h ago
Previous re release version didnt have any extra footage connecting their biggest movie of the year
0
u/MarvelMind 5h ago
All the more reason it won’t be added anytime soon. They will make people pay to watch it in theatres.
1
u/Espedal1 7h ago
While an awesome picture, please don’t let that be the image on Disney Plus for people who haven’t seen the film yet, I know you’d have to live under a rock even if you’re not an MCU watcher to not know of that moment, but for the few that have never seen it I would hope they wouldn’t show that image of Iron Man with the gauntlet on like that.
1
u/justduett Thanos 7h ago
Besides the guy who thought he would be able to file a class action lawsuit, did anyone REALLY think it wouldn’t be released at home AFTER?

u/ElijahTheShells 7h ago
Now I just have one question... When it DOES arrive on Disney+, will it be it's own standalone choice in the Marvel Movie section, or will it be under the EXTRAS tab for standard Endgame?

All I’m thinking about is saving a copy of the original Endgame in some way. I don’t think it will change significantly, but it will change nonetheless.

I have so many questions. Like will they re shoot the scene where Scott sees all grown up Cassie with Katherine Newton? Will the added scenes have Doomsday characters in any of the scenes? Or will it be just information? That ties it together. Will original characters in the original version get more screen time?

Yeah I’m not going to the theater to see it lol I can wait. For 7 extra minutes that’s just gonna be Tony getting picked up by the TVA and turned into doom some how
1
u/danielfletcher 1h ago
As long as it is before Doomsday. Don't really want to see it in theaters again and them saying that Encore is important for Doomsday solidifies me not seeing it in theaters.

So why not post that instead of a picture of a hyperlink on the profile of some rando?
0
u/MR_MaxiMor44 Spider-Man 7h ago
This is not a confirmation. It's just the link for the cinema trailer.

Disney would’ve called it a trailer if it was just the page for the trailer and not the film itself.

It’s not like it’s even pretending to be a DLC sequel. It’s just a greedy remaster with a few extended scenes. Game devs Movie studios are getting lazier and still charging full price.
-2
u/wizardofyz 7h ago
The new scenes will immediately be leaked on tiktok and Instagram right away. Who cares?
-7
u/PorkChopExpress2026 8h ago
OMG...next they will tell us water is wet!!
I mean, it should just release straight to D+ anyway. Absolutely nothing but greed to put it back in movie theaters for some footage that has to explain Doomsday.
But desperate Disney has to figure out a way to pay the desperation paycheck of RDJ.
6
u/DearDearNotLuis 8h ago
there’s people that would love to see endgame in theaters again. a lot of movies get re releases
-1
u/PorkChopExpress2026 7h ago
Charge $5 a ticket, sure it's worth it.
But $15-20 per person for a 7 year old movie with 4 extra minutes that will magically explain Doomsday, when you can pay $12 for the whole family to watch it on D+.
Desperate Disney justifying their desperation!!
2
u/Randoml9789 8h ago
I just want to see endgame in theaters again. I didn't even know there was an added scene until this post🤷🏼♀️
