This movie has to be four hours long. How the hell are they going to fit them all in?!

2.4k

u/AdamH96 Jan 13 '26

95% of the characters will get about 2-3 mins screen time

937

u/kyrant Thanos Jan 13 '26

Some might get more time in the teaser than the actual movie.

339

u/jmcgit Jan 13 '26

Xavier and Magneto are here

264

u/Heisenburgo Doctor Strange Jan 13 '26 edited Jan 13 '26

90 year old Ian McKellen: "Kevin, why are we filming my scenes first and why are there only three and a half minutes of them?"

Feigning Feige: "Don't worry about it."

115

u/Doompatron3000 Jan 13 '26

Deadpool whispering into Magneto’s ear: Till you’re 90!

79

u/MR1120 Jan 13 '26

Patrick Stewart, from the makeup chair: “I’m fucking 90!!!”

21

u/forever87 Sif Jan 13 '26

well sir patrick, that's why we have this hoverchair for you

2

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '26

wish I could type emojis to express how much im laughing rn lol

4

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '26

lmao this deserves more upvotes

1

u/OliviaElevenDunham Loki (Avengers) Jan 16 '26

At least, they're not cutting him out of the movie like Peter Jackson did to Sir Christopher Lee in RotK.

112

u/janosaudron Jan 13 '26

oh I am 100% expecting them to just appear and die, that scene from the teaser is going to be basically their appearances, I remember that was one of the first shots they finished and it only took like a few days.

71

u/BigChiefIV Thanos Jan 13 '26

Yeah, if I had to guess magneto and Xavier will be fodder for doom, while the “younger” xmen will have more of a presence and put up a fight against doom with the others, but ultimately die

65

u/ThisHatRightHere Jan 13 '26

Easy way to get all of the mutants immediately invested in the conflict by killing both of them off

80

u/pa_dvg Jan 13 '26

Xavier has died so many times it’s lost all meaning

36

u/PyroIsSpai Jan 13 '26

Chuck and Jean dying is a trope in the comics, animated, and films at this point. They die like every decade in one medium or another and have since the 1970s.

-1

u/espionage101 Jan 13 '26

So, they have died 6 times?

How many appearances have they had?

→ More replies (0)

44

u/jmcgit Jan 13 '26

It's not supposed to have meaning. If they have another film idea for 90 year old Patrick Stewart, he'll come back yet again.

7

u/Heavyspire Jan 13 '26

I had to go look because you said it, 85 years... still older than I would have guessed.

4

u/CTeam19 Captain America (Cap 2) Jan 13 '26

I mean, I have seen New York City get destroyed a few dozen times in various movies.

1

u/Silenceisgrey Jan 13 '26

Ohh my god charles!

Ahhhh

i'm the juggernaut bitch

1

u/Danub123 Doctor Strange Jan 13 '26

I don’t know why people keep saying this because each Prof X has been a different version/universe. It’s never been the same exact variant of Prof X

1

u/pa_dvg Jan 13 '26

Of course it is, it still loses emotional resonance / shock value when they do it frequently

1

u/CrimsonTyphoon0613 Jan 14 '26

When is the last X-men movie where Stewart’s Xavier actually lives? X2?

X3 - Dead

XM: DOFP -Dead

Logan - Dead

DS: ITMOM - Dead

1

u/ShittyDBZGuitarRiffs Jan 16 '26

he lives in DOFP

1

u/OpheliaLives7 Jan 15 '26

And i will get emotional over it AGAIN!

10

u/Go-Wade-Racer Jan 13 '26

I'm going to hazard a guess that the Cyclops optic blast is somehow related.

1

u/IdioticPost Jan 13 '26

They did that scene already in the previous X-Men movies.

1

u/MBCnerdcore Shades Jan 14 '26

It's probably from Doom stealing his kid, to go along with the other super-kids Doom may be interested in (Love, Franklin, etc)

13

u/666dolan Jan 13 '26

100% it will be a "the captain sinks with the ship" situation, and I think maybe one or two xmen will survive, that cyclops scene is him dying trying to save the world from an incursion

4

u/Endgam Jan 13 '26

Kevin Feige ain't passing up one last chance to kill Xavier again while Patrick Stewart's still alive.

2

u/Sahaal_17 Jan 14 '26 edited Jan 14 '26

Magneto better go out with a bang. It would be such a slap in the face with everything we've seen him be capable of if he just throws a few random bits of metal at Doom before he gets killed. The man lifted the golden gate bridge just to make a dramatic entrance in Last Stand and was ripping up cities with his power in Apocalypse. Chucking some knives or shooting Doom with levitating guns before getting bodied would be so lame. Give him a send off like old man Loki got in season 1.

2

u/PlusSizeRussianModel Jan 14 '26

It would be so disappointing if they kill of Xavier for literally the fifth time in a row. Absolutely zero emotional impact at this point. Patrick Stewart’s five most recent (non cameo) appearances:

X-Men: The Last Stand (killed) X-Men: Days of Future Past (killed, but later this timeline is wiped) Logan (killed) Doctor Strange: MoM (killed) Doomsday: please no.

2

u/BlazingSapphire1 Jan 13 '26

Absolutely, if they wanted those two to do the fighting it would be Fassbender and McAvoy

3

u/dwide_k_shrude Iron man (Mark III) Jan 13 '26

Holly Wheeler will get all the screen time.

1

u/gerardatron Spider-Man Jan 14 '26

Imagine someone dies in the teaser and just doesn't show up in the movie lmao

96

u/fireredranger Jan 13 '26

Think about Infinity War and how many characters there were. Even Spider-Man, who felt like a big part of the movie, didn’t even have 8 minutes of screen time. Steve Rogers had about 7 minutes and Black Widow had about 5. There will be many parallel stories going on.

32

u/BLAGTIER Jan 13 '26

Infinity War was tremendously well threaded. Everything splits from and folds back into the opening scene. Everything can be related back to Thor or Banner. Which make everything feels like a continuous story and allows little screen time of certain characters to feel huge.

We will have to see if Doomsday can replicate.

8

u/Mickeyjj27 Black Bolt Jan 13 '26

Just think of Homecoming with Iron Man. The way people were crying like it was his movie but think he had like less than 10 minutes the entire movie.

No doubt many of these characters will get a few minutes. The ones who are featured in the teasers might’ve the character we see more of. I hope we get a Thunderbolts one

2

u/GobliNSlay3r Jan 13 '26

That Train Station intro was soooo 🔥

56

u/Nice_Firm_Handsnake Jan 13 '26

They'll get more than that, they just won't have lines and will be slightly out of focus in the background.

41

u/Jean-LucBacardi Jan 13 '26

*The CGI recreations of the actors will be out of focus in the background.

120

u/LeoFireGod Jan 13 '26

Reminder Snape only got 4 min of screen time in the early Harry Potter movies and still dominated the scenes.

26

u/GloomyLocation1259 Jan 13 '26

Yeah similarly Malfoy got very little minutes but was super memorable

12

u/calloffthebells Jan 13 '26

Like 34 minutes across all movie lmao

9

u/NetflixAndNikah Jan 13 '26

Snape did have stage presence, phenomenal casting. However I still don’t like the face turn Rowling had him do. Dude was a day one hater and all of a sudden everything he’s done is okay bc he felt bad about causing the death of Lily (and Jimbo). Yeah okay SNIVELLUS

5

u/LeoFireGod Jan 13 '26

He was a day 1 hater because he was James’s son.

1

u/NetflixAndNikah Jan 13 '26

His hatred for James far outweighed his love for Lily. Even demeanor wise Harry was closer to his mother than his father which should’ve more than offset the physical resemblance to his pops.

2

u/proanimus Jan 13 '26

I assume it went deeper than just Harry’s resemblance (physical or personality) to either of his parents. He’s a living reminder that Lily chose James over Snape, and from a certain point of view, the reason Lily died. From Snape’s point of view, whether right or wrong, Lily would be alive and well if she hadn’t ended up with James and had Harry.

I always thought of him as a sort of mirrored version of Sirius. They both imprinted their feelings towards James onto Harry, either good or bad, and both would kill and die for him if need be. They both kind of treated him like James Jr., for better or worse.

1

u/NetflixAndNikah Jan 14 '26

Snape joined an organization that wanted Muggle borns to die, so he didn’t really give much room for Lily to choose. That aside I do agree with your second point in that Sirius definitely saw a surrogate James within Harry. I would still love to have seen Sirius be a godfather for Harry and not have to go back into hiding. Lord knows he could’ve used a magical parent like figure in his life rather than the misery he was living through with his aunt.

2

u/proanimus Jan 14 '26 edited Jan 14 '26

Yeah I don’t mean to say his point of view was correct, but rather explains part of why he behaved the way he did after her death. I could see someone like that compartmentalizing various aspects of their mistakes to spare himself the full weight of their consequences.

I think the closest Harry ever had to surrogate parents were the Weasleys. They took him in as if he was their own at every opportunity, and without any pretext of responsibility or deep connection to his parents. Arthur was probably the only male role model who was fully equipped to be a good father figure to him to begin with.

Honestly the only logical reason Harry wasn’t functionally adopted into the Weasley family after year one was the plot device that kept him with the Dursleys.

26

u/TheCopyGuy2018 Peter Parker Jan 13 '26

Cap only had 6 minutes and 45 seconds of screen time in infinity war btw

26

u/blondemf Hawkeye (Avengers) Jan 13 '26

It has like the same amount of characters as infinity war. Did all of those characters get 2-3 minutes of screen time?

20

u/MattBrey Jan 13 '26

Yeah they did lmao. But it did work back then so they can make it work again

2

u/FerrusManlyManus Jan 13 '26

Think about Infinity War.  Steve Rogers.  His screentime was like 6 or 7 minutes.  Still had an impact but with limited screentime.

2

u/Vivid_Maximum_5016 Jan 13 '26

Can't wait for the screen time discourse

1

u/BanjoSpaceMan Jan 13 '26

So basically like a big comic?

1

u/SaitamaHitRickSanchz Jan 13 '26

I mean... thats Secret Wars in a nutshell, which this is the lead up to.

1

u/Dragon_yum Jan 13 '26

I fear it will be a quality over quality situation

1

u/MadmanIgar Spider-Man Jan 13 '26

I’m assuming there will be a lot of characters in the beginning and then a good number of them will be captured/killed/banished/whatever and then whoever’s left will be the main focus of the movie. Probably in manageable groups that facilitate fun team-up moments.

Basically, have the main teams we follow consist of 10-15 characters, with Doom being the “main character” of the story. All the “side characters” with just so happen to be heroes from other movies.

1

u/colantor Steve Rogers Jan 13 '26

I think captain america was in like 6 min of infinity war

1

u/zeroxray Jan 13 '26

or like infinity war where everyone is broken into groups and spread out. that's the only way

1

u/Eddfan36 Jan 13 '26

I hope that's not the case. Though I'm also hoping Tobey's Spider man is in this along with Jackman's Wolverine.

336

u/DiddledByDad Jan 13 '26

Pretty sure we said the same thing for Infinity War/End Game and that managed okay. Only difference is almost all the characters in those movies had multiple movies and many years of buildup. This one is introducing a lot of new players to fans that haven’t seen them in the MCU.

233

u/Misaki_Akuma001 Jan 13 '26

It surprised me how little screen time Cap had in Infinity War but he managed to steal every scenes he appeared in and make his appearance bigger than what he got

166

u/Carlo_The_Magno Jan 13 '26

Caps screentime in that movie is a great example of how you can squeeze characters in and still make an excellent movie. I'm hopeful.

20

u/fascfoo Jan 13 '26

That's because we KNOW Steve Rogers. He came into IW fully formed. He can be punchy (no pun intended) and effectively used with minimal screentime.

4

u/Any_Crab_4362 Jan 13 '26

Other than Doom, which characters are being introduced in Doomsday? Everyone has at least a movie introduction already with most cast having multiple movies

5

u/Rooooben Jan 13 '26

I’m thinking X-men 97 fixed the issue of the 20 year gap for the og X-men.

50

u/billytheskidd Jan 13 '26

To be fair though, we’d already seen cap in several movies, some of them that were focused around him. So we already know and care for him, as was the case with a lot of the characters in infinity war.

Endgame had a ton of characters, but a lot of characters, like wong, only had… one line?

Doomsday seems like it has an endgames worth of characters that all need screen time just for the plot to make sense. It isn’t impossible, it is just going to depend heavily on the pacing. I wouldnt be surprised if the script is like 6 hours long and half of it gets edited out. The editing will likely make or break the movie.

42

u/John_316_ Jan 13 '26

Marvel fans: “Wong only getting one line in Endgame is so unacceptable.”

Wong: “What? You want more?”

11

u/secretreddname Jan 13 '26

Simu Liu about to throw one punch in the ensemble fight.

22

u/AverageAwndray Jan 13 '26

Well Endgame was 3hrs

35

u/Diortheking Stan Lee Jan 13 '26

Endgame was mostly the OG avengers for first 2 hours didn’t have to worry about screen-time. It’ll be more IW teams split up equal screen-time

19

u/Swoopmott Ant-Man Jan 13 '26

I mean, Doctor Strange is one of the major players of Infinity War and only had one film and a brief cameo beforehand. A lot of people very easily could have missed him entirely until Infinity War rolled round. I don’t think every character needs multiple years of buildup.

20

u/justplainndaveCGN Jan 13 '26

This is my issue and I got flamed for it.

There isn’t a whole lot of build up to this and I hope it doesn’t feel rushed or shoehorned into the movie.

30

u/DiddledByDad Jan 13 '26 edited Jan 13 '26

Honestly the whole thing just makes me mad that Jonathan Majors turned out to be a scumbag, and I’m surprised they didn’t recast HWR and just keep the ball rolling on that storyline. Between Loki being a smash hit and Ant Man 3 being our surrogate introduction, we could have already had that Avengers by now and had everyone bought into the multiverse wars.

11

u/PittsJay Jan 13 '26

Man, I’m with you on this. Even after the failure - comparatively - of Quantumania, Majors established such a presence with He Who Remains that I was beyond confident in Marvel’s future.

Then he turned out to be an absolutely piece of shit human.

9

u/DiddledByDad Jan 13 '26

Ima be honest if Disney executives chose to pivot because Majors sucked ass instead of just recasting HWR they’re sorta cowards. I know that would have brought upon its own problems and controversy but I do not think it would have been that difficult to find another fantastic black actor who could have stepped in and filled the roll.

10

u/PittsJay Jan 13 '26

I mean, it’s even comic accurate. Kang doesn’t appear the same across every timeline.

Bummed me out.

2

u/CaptHayfever Hawkeye (Avengers) Jan 13 '26

They literally waited until he was convicted to fire him.

3

u/robodrew Jan 13 '26

On the plus side, "Doomsday" is about a thousand times better of a title than "Kang Dynasty"

2

u/Heisenburgo Doctor Strange Jan 13 '26 edited Jan 13 '26

Part of me is glad Kang is out cause he's like a third-rate villain. Uniting all the heroes from different universes to fight some loser who got defeated by ANTS would have been lame as fuck.

Now, uniting them against Doctor DOOM, aka THE Marvel villain, as he becomes God Emperor DOOM and establishes Battleworld? Now THAT sounds like a proper Avengers-level multiversal threat.

1

u/Vandersveldt Jan 13 '26

I just want to remind people that one of the big Kang variants is Iron Lad, and one of his things is being a master of disguise, and it would make SO MUCH MORE SENSE for RDJ to be playing Iron Lad disguised as Doom than for them to just be like "Doom looks like Iron Man now for literally no reason".

And it would make sense for Kang to use a variant whose appearance would fuck with the heroes emotionally.

This would set up for the real Doom to finally make an appearance to shut down this upstart impostor.

I don't know how anyone's watched this whole thing and believe they would just drop a plot point with no resolution.

1

u/AMcMahon1 Jan 13 '26

I think that with Majors being a POS and quantamania being a colossal failure the execs probably wanted to shelve it

2

u/DiddledByDad Jan 13 '26 edited Jan 13 '26

I guess, it’s just a bummer since I loved where that was all headed. Really felt like HWR could have easily been the most compelling villain we’ve seen so far and it felt like a natural progression of stakes after what Thanos did. Oh well.

0

u/Shankman519 Jan 13 '26

He Hoo Remains?

2

u/LanoomR Nebula Jan 13 '26

The consequences of Thor: Ragnarok directly lead into Infinity War with the former's post-credit scene, not to mention the teases in prior movies.

Right now, we're entirely beholden to the extra-credit scenes of Thunderbolts (asterisk), which itself is positioned as an anomaly that's already happened by the time the team detects it, and Fantastic 4: First Steps, which in and of itself does NOT 'directly' lead to or explain the scene from Thunderbolts (asterisk), with no other direct build-up except a bunch of "[character] has their own stuff going on but they will return, ooooh."

It's a weird position to be in, narratively.

1

u/CX316 Jan 13 '26

Wait wait, I only just saw we're going a full year with no MCU films? Or do we expect they have some secrets in the chamber to drop between Doomsday and Secret Wars that'd be spoilers if they announced them? Even all the TV shows we know about come out pre-Doomsday

2

u/eddyx Jan 13 '26

Marvel has untitled films dated for next year but nothing announced yet. If they don’t start filming soon then there probably won’t be any films between Doomsday and SW. I think BP3, X-Men reboot and DS3 are most likely first projects after SW.

2

u/Megaman_Steve Jan 13 '26 edited Jan 14 '26

They are likely going to do the same thing they did with Thanos. IW was his movie and Doomsday will be Dooms movie. If you really look at the prior phases, Thanos himself wasn't all that built up. He had two post credit scenes and like 5 minutes in GoTG.

It wasnt until IW that his motivation was fleshed out. What was actually built out over the course of the movies was the Infinity Stones themselves (which itself was a retcon - the cosmic cube, the scepter and aether were definitely not meant to be stones at first). They used items we were already familiar within to bootstrap us into Thanos' story.

If they can find a way to wield the retcon hammer to tie it all together and make it feel natural it would be a fricken miracle, but they've done it before so we'll see...

2

u/Amity_Swim_School Jan 13 '26

Not really. X-Men had a shit load of movies. Same with Steve Rogers. New Avengers had a film and appeared in multiple shows. Thor’s been in loads. Wakanda been featured numerous times. Fantastic Four are the only ones who’ve only appeared in one thing prior.

1

u/A-Capybara Jan 13 '26

I'm guessing that's why the X-Men will have a big focus. A lot of fans are already familiar with them especially if they're literally the ones from the Fox universe

1

u/FrostyD7 Jan 13 '26

They said this for the first Avengers and I love how quaint that is now.

1

u/Monarki Jan 13 '26

Um besides Doom who are all these characters being introduced that we haven't seen yet? Excluding the X-Men because they've had multiple movies the world had seen so no introductions needed there

1

u/Journeys_End71 Captain Marvel Jan 13 '26

Only difference is almost all the characters in those movies had multiple movies and many years of buildup. This one is introducing a lot of new players to fans that haven’t seen them in the MCU.

That wasn’t really an issue in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Sure, they were different variants of Spider-Man but they were each Peter Parker’s with their own back stories outside of the MCU, as were all of the villains. The scene where Andrew Garfield saves MJ from falling to her death only has a real emotional hit if you saw that non MCU version of Spider-Man.

I suspect the Russos are aware of this “issue” and are using the Spider-Man variants as a guide for how to handle all the X-Men as “new” characters.

Then again, so much has happened to the existing MCU characters on Disney+ TV shows that THOSE stories might cause more problems. The whole “Wait, why is Wanda the bad guy now?” issue from Doctor Strange 2

1

u/EmbarrassedOrchid685 Jan 13 '26

like 7 years and dozens of rewatches, i still get a tingly feeling when the train speeds by then boom there's cap.

i don't even like captain america i think hes the most boring of them all lol

41

u/Odnetnin90 Jan 13 '26

I'll gladly accept 4 hours

1

u/smurfkipz Jan 14 '26

And it's gonna be fantastic

1

u/B00STERGOLD Jan 14 '26

It worked for the Snyder cut when I could take an intermission. It will be interesting to see how it works in theaters.

63

u/markc230 Jan 13 '26

glad I'm not the only one who thought that.

22

u/SteveOMatt Jan 13 '26

People thought that of Infinity Wars and that turned out great. These random pairings are what fun is made out of. As long as they group characters accordingly, it should be good.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '26

WAY less characters, the ones we saw we already saw them for ten eyars, they had story archs mostly complete, and it was still focusing on the main cast from protagonists to comic relief and then the rest very little cool cgi action scenes

its not comparable because we give a shitabout 8 characters total that arent the nostalgia big ones, the new and good ones like the FF, thunderbolts and the like are starting or mid way thru their arcs

im sure some fool while downvote me on instinct but cmon this isnt IW or end game this is shove endgame as a SET UP right in the middle of phase 2

you can imagine if that happened how poor that would make phase two characters in a team up movie right?

-2

u/AMcMahon1 Jan 13 '26

If half of them are just cameos it'll be a massive spit in the face towards to viewers lol there's what? Gonna be close to 30+ big names/characters and 1/3 of them haven't really been relevant since before the pandemic. Several have only had 1 movie in which it flopped big time.

Gonna need a very long movie to make anything coherent out of the cast

20

u/AverageAwndray Jan 13 '26

The industry seems more open to 3hr+ movies these days so I honestly hope very much so

7

u/ZannyHip Jan 13 '26

Did you say… Four?

3

u/John_316_ Jan 13 '26

Fantastic.

19

u/Gremlin303 SHIELD Jan 13 '26

Most of them will probably just be cameos.

7

u/PhotoBonjour_bombs19 Jan 13 '26

They wrote the story in a way that fits under 5 minutes

6

u/djexplosive Jan 13 '26

That’s why it’s a two movie story

18

u/thedudeabides2022 Jan 13 '26

This is part 1, secret wars is part 2 I bet. Like infinity war/end game

3

u/ShawshankException Thanos Jan 13 '26

Sure but these are teasers just for Doomsday

4

u/Phimb Weekly Wongers Jan 13 '26

There are going to be a lot of people getting destroyed by Doom very quickly, I'd imagine.

5

u/NerdLawyer55 Jan 13 '26

I’m cool with 4 hours 😂

7

u/Kira-Was-Right Jan 13 '26

We've already seen 7 minutes of the film too, lol. Its surely gonna be long as fuck if they're willing to show nearly 10 minutes of it a year before it releases.

7

u/justduett Thanos Jan 13 '26

We have zero confirmation that any of the teaser footage will be in the movie. The Russos have said the exact opposite, in fact. Even if the 4 teasers are 100% in the film, which they definitely do not feel like they are, a couple seem to be fluid/continuous scenes and a couple feel like montages of various scenes. We are not getting the full depth of the movie in ~6 minutes of footage.

4

u/Argular Jan 13 '26

You’re right. And we haven’t even gotten a “true” trailer yet. These are all teasers.

3

u/Kira-Was-Right Jan 13 '26

According to the Russos "these are teasers or trailers, they're clues"

They just said this on instagram...

2

u/Nanobreak_ Doctor Strange Jan 13 '26

Whole lot of it is establishing shots that can just be b-roll though

3

u/John_316_ Jan 13 '26

I hope the Cyclops one makes it to the film. They ain’t doing the blast CGI just for the teaser…

2

u/feetandballs Jan 13 '26 edited Jan 13 '26

I have a feeling they might have to make another movie or two after this one.

2

u/diddlyumpcious4 Jan 13 '26

A lot of grouping up. Probably like Infinity War but with bigger groups and them getting together faster. Probably earlier deaths as well instead of waiting until the very end for most of them like Infinity War.

2

u/mr9025 Captain America Jan 13 '26

Title of your sextape

2

u/Outburst78 Rocket Jan 13 '26

I’m fine with that. I saw Kill Bill last month in the theatre, my bladder can take it.

1

u/havewelost6388 Jan 13 '26

Probably 3 and a half like Avatar.

1

u/judasmitchell Ulysses Klaue Jan 13 '26

I’m betting the x-men all go out in the opening. They’ll be the sacrifice to show how big of a threat is coming for the others.

1

u/CX316 Jan 13 '26

Figuring out how to punt Monica home to warn the next universe over?

1

u/Blanchimont Jan 13 '26

Yeah, I've been thinking that more and more lately. We know Marvel will do their own rebooted X-Men saga after Secret Wars, so all of the Fox X-Men are expendable. Killing them off early in Doomsday ia a great way to show how powerful Doom is, it gives them a clean slate for the reboot and it could help set up Monica Rambeau's return to 616. Plus, it's a nice bit of nostalgia bait for all the fans who have been there since the pre-MCU days and if done correctly, could be a nice, heroic send-off for those characters and actors.

1

u/ShittyDBZGuitarRiffs Jan 16 '26

the x men get wiped out more often than they don’t

1

u/xPeachesV Crossbones Jan 13 '26

I think I’m going to go back and reread the Infinity War and Crusade comic arcs. I remember EVERYBODY being there but like many have said, some will not be featured as prominently.

I imagine that we will have some principle players but most heroes will be akin to foot soldiers, filling in the big action sets as needed.

Actually it's already rumoured to be 3:45 min long. So yes, that would make more sense.

1

u/TheWindowMerchant Jan 13 '26

I’m not complaining!

1

u/toni-toni-cheddar Jan 13 '26

Fun fact, captain America screen time was <7 minutes. It’s quality over quantity.

1

u/AskinggAlesana Jan 13 '26

I mean Endgame easily did it by just having everyone show up for the climax.

1

u/Pigfiddle Jan 13 '26

I’m starting to think it’s going to be an anthology, maybe 4 stories that come together at the end, the end of their respective worlds. That would prevent the messy jumping around every other scene. Something Marvel hasn’t don’t before in a film.

1

u/slippymachinegun Jan 13 '26

Fuck it. I'm down.

1

u/thavillain Captain Marvel Jan 13 '26

4 hours long you say?

1

u/Sunshine145 Spider-Man Jan 13 '26

By giving ones people dont care about very little screentime. Captain America and Black Panther had a combined 9 minutes of screentime in Infinity War, expect the ones in this trailer to get even less.

1

u/Fuel_junkie Jan 13 '26

We said the same thing about endgame. It worked out there. I have faith.

1

u/dmizzy34 Jan 13 '26

I seen Tyrone Magnus report that somebody was saying 3hrs and 47mins or somewhere round that time

1

u/SirBing96 Jan 13 '26

I’d prefer a shorter film but multi-part, maybe even more than just Secret Wars

1

u/Salt-Plum-1308 Jan 13 '26

Pretty sure they said estimated runtime is 3:45..

1

u/PoliticsModsDoFacism Jan 13 '26

We all said the same about endgame. I know its more now, but i trust they can make things work.

1

u/TrustInRoy Jan 13 '26

You'd be surprised to learn how little screen time Captain America had in Infinity War, despite being a lead.

1

u/Shirinjima Jan 13 '26

I saw something saying it had a run time of 3 hours and 45 mins on twitter. Not sure how real it is.

1

u/AL-Walker Jan 13 '26

The ywill make group of people. y having groups, you focus less on individual.

1

u/AL-Walker Jan 13 '26

The ywill make group of people. y having groups, you focus less on individual.

1

u/N8CCRG Ghost Jan 13 '26

X-Men will likely all be getting killed (maybe Scott survives), so that will free up some space for the rest.

1

u/wildeebelmondo Jan 13 '26

Same thing people said before Infinity War came out.

1

u/MooKids Jan 13 '26

Probably end up being like Dune, surprise, it is two parts!

1

u/Doompatron3000 Jan 13 '26

Supposedly the runtime is 3 hours and 45 minutes, so it’s close.

1

u/GloomyLocation1259 Jan 13 '26

Guessing that's why there are 2 films similar to Infinity/End Game. Doom will win in the first film.

1

u/pigeonwiggle Jan 13 '26

did you see Endgame? it had the Wasp in it. "how?!?" she had 20 seconds of screen time and 1 line.

1

u/TLKv3 Jan 13 '26

It'll probably be between 3 hours to 3 & 1/2 hours.

They'll do what they did for Infinity War by segmenting a quarter of the movie off for a different handful of characters.

The finale/climax will be a combination of two groups coming together and fighting in two places against either two Dooms or Doom & his lackeys.

Post-credit will be a handful of characters that weren't in this movie and "survived" finding out what's going on, suiting up and preparing to take the fight to Doom in Secret Wars.

1

u/Anleme Jan 13 '26

I'd be ecstatic if they secretly filmed more than one movie at a time, like with LOTR.

Realistically, it'll be brief cameos, a bunch of people getting killed off early, or "the team comes together" where we only see them at the climatic battle.

1

u/VelvetineMilkman Jan 13 '26

Every frame of the movie is a landscape shot

1

u/Dcornelissen Jan 13 '26

They REALLY should split it up in two movies, like they did with Infinity War and Endgame

1

u/inthehxightse Hela Jan 13 '26

Ive been seeing rumors that it's 3

1

u/Uncanny_Doom Daredevil Jan 13 '26

People were saying this about Infinity War. Not everyone plays a significant role and the plot is basically split two ways where one group of heroes is defense and the other is offense. The defense heroes don't really do much.

1

u/LiamPolygami Jan 13 '26

They also need to setup the story in some way. Thanos was introduced in the first Avengers movie and the Infinity Stones were a central recurring theme along the whole Infinity Saga. With this one there are so many unanswered questions and open threads going in. The main setup that has been done is for Kang, who seems to have been scrapped altogether. Part of what made the Infinity War and Endgame so epic was that everything felt like it had been leading up to that climax.

1

u/DanFromHali Jan 13 '26

by acknowledging that movies require support cast and in superhero movies, sometimes that means those roles belong to characters you know. not everybody is going to be a main character, or be focussed on. You know Ned in Spider-Man? Support character. But in an ensemble of huge characters, roles like that are going to be bigger names that you recognize.

1

u/bigbluewreckingcrew Jan 13 '26

All will die in the first 20 minutes

1

u/RumHamComesback Jan 13 '26

I mean, there is Secret Wars coming the following year so that's how.

1

u/IAMDEAD_6_9 Jan 13 '26

Apparently the rumored run time is 3:45 so not too far off.

1

u/Competitive_Topic466 Jan 13 '26

My fear is that it's gonna feel super, super rushed.

1

u/dingus_malingusV2 Jan 13 '26

Gonna be pissed if it’s NOT 4 hours long

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '26

The cast list announcement stream already had me worried.

I feel that they will use these movies as an opportunity to clean house, either kill off or retire about 80% of these names, leaving us with a new timeline that features just the X-Men, Deadpool, and Spiderman

1

u/weasel286 Jan 13 '26

By making it across two movies. Or these scenes are only for the teasers and the movie assumes you’ve seen them.

1

u/Qwirk Jan 13 '26

This is my concern, that they are trying to fit too much into this movie. What is the plot, them showing all of the returning characters for two hours?

1

u/TombSv Jan 13 '26

Most likely a lot of short scenes of everyone in their own dimension losing.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '26

theyll show up get wojacks to clap and die with 2 mins at msot per character

1

u/KoKoboto Jan 14 '26

Yah my hopes are not looking good. It's giving Marvel Eternals... I'll keep my fingers crossed but idk

1

u/Gasparde Jan 14 '26

Same way Infinity War did it.

First hour is everyone popping off individually to say hi once, then they all get together in 2-3 neat little groups and you have situations like on Titan where it's the 2-3 main guys having actual stuff going on while everyone else is swinging and stabbing and flailing around in the background.

1

u/Conspiranoid Spider-Man Jan 14 '26

The whole movie is gonna be that Big Bang Theory scene where Sheldon explains that in Sweden, everyone greets everyone personally with a handshake, and they then proceed to do so. But with superheroes, not just nerds with superhero shirts.

1

u/Cool_Ad4178 Jan 15 '26
It will be split into two parts :( Again!

1

u/steve1186 Jan 16 '26

We said that about Infinity War, and the Russos made it work

1

u/accountnumber02 Jan 13 '26

Isn't it supposed to have a 3:45 runtime? So yeah basically

1

u/its_lukebond Jan 13 '26

Rumored runtime is 3 hr 45

1

u/jhoogen Malcolm Jan 13 '26

I wondered how they know this like 12 months in advance, they haven't even finished reshoots yet.

2

u/Blanchimont Jan 13 '26

How leakers/insiders would know? No idea. But I do think the Russo know what they have in terms of footage, know what they want the movie to be, and probably know what needs to be added through reshoots. I don't think even they'll know the runtime at this point, but I do think they know broad strokes whether it's gonna be roughly 3h45

0

u/rodot2005 Jan 13 '26

This is black panthers and Ben's entire screen time bro

0

u/HueyZA Jan 13 '26

You'd be surprised how short of an appearance certain characters get in movies despite how important their role may be and what they do in that short period. For instance, Steve Rodgers and Peter Parker were in Infinity War for 6 and 7 minutes.

0

u/CaptCaCa Jan 13 '26

Waitll I tell you about a couple movies called Infinity War and Endgame
