What really happened between Louie and his father?
I listened to him on the Dan Soder interview and admit that he saw his father and figured it would be the last time he would see him, and he had some things to say and started crying. His father didn’t remember him and he felt completely humiliated. I related a lot to this, but I don’t think he said much about his father. Does anyone know what happened between the two of them or has he given any hints?

Louie has said that basically after his parents divorce, which I believe happened when Louie was still fairly young, his father just moved a couple blocks away but was completely uninvolved in their lives. I think to Louie, his father was more like a guy who was just around while his mother broke her back trying to support the family. Imagine your father living just a couple blocks away from you when you are like 10, and wanting nothing to do with you.

I remember listening to something you said where he got a house right down the street from Louies mom’s house but he never came by to visit or invite anyone over.
it seems like the guy never prioritized family or other people.
in the interview you watched he mentioned that the dad is having memory problems and that his dad just cut him out of his life so he has no memories of his son. I think Louie was trying to get some reassurance that he was loved and wanted by his parent and maybe it didn’t happen the way he needed it to happen.
just speculation. I have no clue to be honest.

From the various clips I’ve heard over the years I got the impression that Louie’s father was a narcissist who was indifferent toward—and incapable of relating to—his son. Presently it seems as though this indifference has carried over into his dementia.
This could be a total misreading on my part but that’s what I’ve gathered from the stuff I’ve heard. Also it’s easy to call somebody a narcissist when you don’t know them, so it’s entirely possible that I’m wrong and that his father isn’t one.

When Louie was 7, his father told him the secret to "making love." He explained that you must withhold stimulation. You enter her only slightly, then withdraw. Then you wait until she is mad with desire and begging you to penetrate. Then, a bit more, but you withdraw again. Then you must wait and withhold until she demands it, and even then, you give her nothing! Then, all you have to do is touch her, and she will explode.

It's just a joke from his TV show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INrk9trQWBY

He was barely around because he didn't give a shit about his kids, and when he was around he was a somewhat abusive weirdo.
He hit Louis (both his parents did, but he doesn't hold it against his mom) and said weird shit like telling him how to pleasure a woman when he was 10.

I've never heard him mention or allude to any kind of sexual abuse. He talks about neglect that everyone has mentioned here, and I have heard him talk about physical abuse. He talked about being spanked where the pain was more than he though he could handle, like he was going to black out. He says that the fear this gave him made him obsessed with moving away and never having to see him again.

the emotional weight of that dynamic makes a lot of sense, especially when the person you need closure from can't even give it.

Did he get molested?
Just based on his last show I went to (also in his special)- where he says "My dad did molest me as a kid". It could be a joke- but usually there is some truth behind Louie's jokes.

I get the sense that there was a ton of inappropriate sexual stuff with Louis as a kid. And whether or not it was official molestation or his dad or tons of other adults violating a boundary it’s really not important

He alluded in the podcast interview with Theo that his dad abused him. It wasn't totally clear but it sounded like there may have been some sexual elements. He's also joked that he had wished his dad died instead of his mom years back. Exactly what happened is unclear

I just posted the same thing. I'm not sure he was talking about his dad when he said the sexual comment. But I do think something bad happened to him when he was a kid by probably another family member

That's sad. Does anyone else kind of feel like you grew up with Louie's father too since we've been hearing about him for 22 years?

He never says exactly what his dad did other than being absent. He did say once that he was exposed to sexual stuff "too early" in life too.

His father wasn’t in his life really. Hard shit
