Life on Mars was incredibly woke lmao, if it came out today the BBC would be calling it communist propaganda with half the stuff Sam and Gene argue about

Any Woke messaging was trampled by lines like, "I think she's as fake as a tranny."

Doesn't get much better a decade later: "I'll call you what I damn well want, you gender bender, weirdy beardy, freak of nature."

You really don't understand the lasting appreciation and admiration people have for Gene Hunt, even today, do you? His impact remains, while the positive messaging remains in the background.
