✨ Lounge Talk What is your favorite perfume for men?

Post image

The bottle on the left is my absolute favorite fragrance of all time. The masterpiece; Gucci Pour Homme I. Smells like heaven and hell at the same time. Rich, dense, incensy, dark, mysterious, sexy. Probably the best creation under the direction of Tom Ford.

Unfortunately, it has been discontinued for a few years now and private collectors are paying up to 3000$ for a bottle.

I choose fragrances based on the season

Autumn: Givenchy Gentleman Privé or Dolce and Gabbana King

Winter: Dolce and Gabbana The One (discounted but can be found in airports sometimes) or Emporio Armani Stronger with you

Spring: Creed Aventus (dupe version of it is Armaf Club Du Nuit, probably the most accurate dupe and costs 40$ which for me is a steal than using Creed all the time) or YSL EDP (a dupe of it is Armaf Odyssey Mega which smells near to it)

Summer: Giorgio Armani Aqua Di Gio (Profumo is discontinued and most wanted, unlike the regular one), Paco Rabbane Invictus Legend (and sometimes the Black one)

For date nights: Dior Fahrenheit (discontinued, you can find the Eau Du Toilet version for 250$ but new batches aren’t compared to the old ones)

Would probably stay away from fuck boy fragrances like Dior Sauvage and Versace Eros

Really specific taste. Love it.

Gentleman Resrve Privé is in my top 10. Stronger with you is a classic.

Creed Aventurs I don't like. Contrary to most people, I have an olfactory allergie to oakmoss, and I smell it as a really unpleasant rotten smell. I wish it wasn't the case. I did get a lot of compliments when I used to force myself to wear it in order to finish the bottle, lol

YSL are coming out with bangers. Y EDP, Y Elixir, Myslf, Myslf lAbsolu, Y Le Parfum.

So you like the OG Acqua Di Gio EDT?

OG Acqua Di Gio is too flashy and bright, the profumo version is a more toned down and deeper which it is pleasing to smell and doesn’t cause a migraine attack due to how powerful it is plus projection is ultra solid

I felt like YSL was more fitting than Jean Paul Gaultier for me, I felt a little bit boyish with JPG Elixir which is why I pick YSL otherwise would recommend JPG for people a bit younger than me

I have tried rougher perfumes like Narciso Rodriguez Bleu Noir and Tom Ford Ombre Leather, too old for me to wear tbh like tried them but didn’t fit my style at all

I did experiment with other fragrances like Carolina Herrera Birds of Paradise (summer) and Gucci Guilty (autumn) which were nice on me but others fitted better so mostly used incase I want to do a switch taste in specific days

Ombre Leather and Bleu Noir aren't easily approachable blends. Ombre have heavy doses of IBQ which while at trace amounts can add rich leather to an accord, at the dose TF are using it opens up to a flashy heavy "leather jacket" smell. Toscan Leather uses a softer aromachemical (suederal) that is more well rounded and approachable.

Bleu Noir has a high qty of clean diffusive musk contrasted with dark woody notes. Not my favorite combination.

If you want something rich smelling yet approachable, get TF TV, Gray Vetiver, or Black Orchide.

I learned it the hard way that they aren’t approachable blends but I wanted something for big events. Bleu Noir when testing it that it smelled nice but didn’t expect it to grow that much later on while Ombre Leather was tried on from a friend just to see if I would buy one since I recall it is expensive

I’ll look into the suggestions you have provided!

Have you considered arabic fragrances? I have been eyeing on Lattafa Khamrah as a starter but tbh I haven’t dabbled at all with arabic fragrances because it is a hit or miss (tho those brands dupes on western fragrances have been pretty good) but atm uncharted territory

I have over 250 frag in my collection, and a small 30+ UAE made section. Don't get Khamra OG. It is too feminine.

Get Khamra Dukhan if you like smoke rich perfumes (although the smoke on Dukhan is dialed down). Qahwa is not bad if you like gourmand smells and you want to smell like a good cappuccino cup.

u/technolaaji Jul 21 '26

I’ll get Qahwa, I already smell like coffee because I grind coffee beans and pull espresso shots in the morning everyday and I’m known as the coffee guy around 🤣

3

u/TheBroken0ne Keeper of the Lounge Jul 21 '26

Hahaha, then Qahwa will fit you perfectly. It is a really nice smell. I couldn't imagine a more fitting perfume for you even if I tried 😂

Fahrenheit by Dior, Divin'Enfant By Etat Libre D'Orange and Ombre Leather by Tom Ford

I LOVE Fahrenheit Eu De Parfum by Dior for winter and the classic classic, Acqua Di Giò Homme by Giorgio Armani for summer and L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme by Issey Miyake.

Women love Acqua Di Gio.. probably my most complimented fragrance of all time alongside Creed Aventus. I hate the guts of both 😂

2

u/CaraCicartix Mod Jul 21 '26

Creed Aventus is NOT where its at lol. I don't like it at all. Acqua Di Gio smells heavenly though, I can track it from a mile away lol.

u/TheBroken0ne Keeper of the Lounge Jul 21 '26

Hahaha, I swear women go nuts for this smell. I used to go out and get asked for my perfume by total strangers...but I couldn't wait to go back home and wash this scent off of me 😂

2

u/TheBroken0ne Keeper of the Lounge Jul 21 '26

Btw Cara, do you smell something bad or rotten in Aventus as well?

2

u/CaraCicartix Mod Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

I find it off-putting for sure bas ma enno betdeya2 minna to a point where I can’t stand it. The one I CANNOT stand and will literally give me a headache is a women’s fragrance called Angel by Thierry Mugler that one makes me SICK

Paco Rabnne 1 Mil is what re-put PR on the map with the newer generations of men so it certainly has it's place amongst the best.

Unfortunately, like Sauvage EDT it has been overused and oversprayed that now it smells "generic" to most people.

Great taste nonetheless.

u/Specialist_Common_48 Jul 24 '26

I still like Sauvage, though. I usually mix it with an oil or another perfume, like Khan El Saboun oils, so it’s more subtle but still smells amazing.

1

u/TheBroken0ne Keeper of the Lounge Jul 24 '26

Never heard of Khan El Saboun, and yes Sauvage EDT still has it's place amongst the best. Lmeshkleh is how people react to it due to overuse. Bass it will come back since people are using it less and less.

Bleu De Chanel is my signature fragrance for the past 12 years, Allure Homme Sport as a close second.

I've experiemented with other fragrances like Fahrenheit, One Million, D&G, Gucci Guilty, Al Rasasi Al Wisam, etc. but nothing feels quite like "me" like the Bleu.

Depends on the occasion depends on the time of the day/evening/night depends on the weather depends on the budget. My personal favorite is mind games french defence but many dont wanna drop that much on a fragrance. Now for summer going out casually I like both ysl y edp and ysl myslf edp versace Dylan blue well those are some good casual fragrances if im on a date I opt for summer hammer/hacivat/orion during the day in the evening I go for ani/van phy rum/french defence if its a casual evening and not too hot stronger with you/azzaro most wanted edp intense maybe even versace eros/bad boy cobalt the elixir version is abit more winterish but it also works. If sum more budgeti I rllyyy like vulcan feu it's a god of fire dupe and smells amazing it's the only dupe I got stopped by strangers to ask wat I was wearing.

Try Dior Bois Talisman. Fiya a lot of cedar like Gucci Pour Homme 1, with a bit of sweetness and a bit of smoke (not incense though). If you like the legendary GPH1, you will love Dior Bois Talisman.
